Ok...been manually calibrating my speakers on the UMC-1. When I go to manual speaker cal and start the cal I don't always get the test tone. I have switch inputs or play something on the input I'm on ( a CD in my case) then stop and go back to the manual cal screen. It's almost like if the UMC is idle to long I can't get the test tones unless I wake the UMC up with some kind if input.
Something else..which I find annoying..when I finally get the test tone..if I have to adjust its volume it cancels the test tone and takes me all the way out of the menu. In other words I can't adjust the test tone on the fly...

I had the same problem with not getting the tones. This is after I updated the firmware. The tone would start on the left speaker but was silent, I would go to the next speaker and the tones would start. Then randomly I couldn't get any sound out of certain speakers. I had thought at first something was wrong with my amp. But I ended up turning the umc on and off at the back and doing resets to default and it started working again. This was one of the problems I listed when I sent mine in for repair.

I don't know. It was just one of many problems I was having with it. I called support and sent it back. They received it on Monday. Haven't heard anything yet. I will have to wait until I get it back.

I haven't had the problem with the test tone not starting, but I agree on the annoyance of the volume cancellation.
