I received mine on Tuesday Feb. 16th.
Although this starts a bit rough this is a glowing review.
Hooked it up....nothing, no sound. So...... I'm a dumb ass and hooked the amp into into ext. in. . So got this fixed then tried working on the set up but the remote would only work at about a foot away and then only 10% of the time . So I was setting it up as far as I could tell since my projector is in the other room. Got some done and went to check it out but still got no sound . Turns out I was incorrectly thinking I was selecting something but never actually selected it and so it always reverted back to none. Then I discovered if I took the battery cover off the remote that it worked great so then went into my theater room and set everything up which with the OSD it was very slick and easy .
Onto the actual product, I ran the Emo-Q and it seemed perfect on my crossovers(I pointed the mic to each speaker as I went along) but told me all but my center was reversed polarity . I ignored that part. Also the speaker distances were spot on. As far as the EQ I smoothed it out just a tad, although truth be told I have no real reason to have done so . For one of my inputs it incorrectly triggers my amp off so I switched to signal on for the amp until I have more time to mess with that.
After that was complete I started playing Blu-rays, streamed music, a PS3 game, music on my PS3 HDD and TiVo.
I took my Legends of Jazz BD and was floored with just how immersed it made me feel.
Then went of to my K.D. Lang BD and Hell yes same thing!
After that i took the Matrix and played back the lobby scene and the helicopter scene and it was phenomenal!!!!!( the best I've heard anywhere since the first time I watched it at a high end movie theater.)
So then went on to Streamed music from my Squeezebox Duet via optical digital and a mix of streamed from Rhapsody and my FLAC files and both sounded just great!
Back to my PS3 I played some PCM music I put on there and some MP3s again excellent sound.
Played a PS3 game and it was fine (not a title known for awesome sound, just checking it out.)
Then I put in my SACD of Heathen by David Bowie and it also sounded fricking unreal but when going track forward or back it lost the signal (176/two channel or 176/multi channel) which I know is an issue at the moment.
Finally I went to my TiVo and watched Human Target which is a fun show and it did very very well on. Oh and the picture quality was excellent-the best I've seen broadcast look on my projector.
So to summarize yes it still has a few quirks but unless you want lower sound quality it is already very solid and worth every single penny this thing costs and still would be at $1500.00 .
My equipment:
Pre-Pro: UMC-1 previously Yamaha RX-v665, Onkyo 885, Yamaha RX-V1800, Yamaha RX-V661, Denon AVR-4806 and on and on
Amp: MPS-1
Speakers: Kef Ref 206 mains 204 center and Kef Q75 side and back surrounds
Sub: Def Tech Super Cube Reference.
BD player: PS3 and Panny 35
DVR: TiVo HD
Remote system: Harmony One and Niles IR extender.
Edit**** So I actually ended up returning the UMC-1 due to DVR audio drop outs and especially the few sound "bombs" I received. Enough to blow speakers and I did not want to take that chance! Sad though as the sound quality was phenomenal when it worked correctly so those folks without any issues I say I'm jealous.
