Hey guys (and the few gals here),
I've been noticing that every once in a while the video signal gets dropped (or at least that's what I think is happening).
Recalling from my memory, it seems to happen only when watching satellite, but it could be more I'll have to test it more rigorously.
Usually what happens is I'll get a quick solid color screen (tealish green), this usually only lasts <1 second, but has been 2-3 seconds.
I've connected my dish box (Vip722) via component and toslink, outputting at 1080i. The UMC is connected to the TV via HDMI, and the output is set at "auto".
I might try changing the dish output to 720, to see if maybe there is a limitation with the component cables (there shouldn't be), or I'll try changing them out (they are cheap).
One thing I haven't tried is skipping back to see if its repeatable at the same spot. It was real bad the other evening when I was watching National Geographic Channel (HD), and it seems to be usually during commercials.
Anyone else having this issue?
Thanks

Rather than auto, set the video setting to your display's native resolution or to passthrough. I believe auto requires a polling of the display device if it loses sync (to determine ideal resolution), and this may be what is leading to brief "teal-out" screens.
Passthrough just blows the signal through at current resolution and forces the display to deal with it (uses display's scaler). Setting to native resolution would use the UMC's scaler to give your display a signal that should require no further processing.

Thanks Brett, I'll try that too. *Edit, After looking at color charts technically its more of a Cyan or Turquoise.

As long as it's not chartreuse, you'll be fine...

Just to update this, I've changed the settings in the dish box to 720, and its been stable.

If you mean Nat Geo HD, its probably working better now because that channel is 720p. Flip to a 1080 channel and the problem could resurface. I experienced this problem regularly with my UMC-1.

Its not really that big of an issue, I was just wondering if anybody else had experienced it.
There has been a report here that I read last night, that some one with a vip722 wasn't having the glitchy shutdowns that others have been experiencing while using HDMI. I may try that and see if it helps.
It seemed to be mostly when there was a solid color on a commercial. When I was playing around with it, there was a Toyota commercial that at the end would be mostly white with the Toyota logo, and I could skip back and it would happen again (I don't remember which channel it was on), then I changed the output to 720 and skipped back and I could see it without the Cyan screen.
Like I said its not a big deal, and the wife hasn't said anything yet. ;D

I'm interested as I have that receiver and still awaiting arrival of UMC. Thanks, Sips
