I just want to get this back on page 1 since I know of several others that do have this issue. It may be very possible that most others have this issue without realizing it. I double checked mine today, and only the surrounds are doing it. If everyone would, without changing any of your speaker level settings, power down, then power on your UMC. Then go straight to the setup>speaker setup>level calibration part of the menu. This is where the test tones are for setting all channels at the same level. Arrow over through all of the speakers and bump each one up and back just 0.5 db and see if it makes it much louder than just a half of a decibel. My surrounds are set at +10 db. When I go to the surrounds, I can go up + and the level jumps up dramatically. It is the difference from going from 0 to +10 db. In other words, the screen shows it set at +10, but it is actually at 0. For those of you who only have your surrounds set at +1 or there about, you probably would be hard pressed to notice it. Try setting it much higher before powering it off and on again to hear the difference.

Well I have the same problem, just checked it out. I think alot of them have this problem just dont know it, will call Monday first thing and report this problem. For your information I received mine last Friday and there was a note in box that FW had already been updated.

Yeah, my firmware is the latest as well. It seems as if the UMC is not storing these settings in the permanent settings, but only as temporary 'on the fly' settings. Should be an easy fix with firmware. I first thought it was just a glitch with just the test tones setup page, but after further tweaking revealed that it is also not storing the settings as shown. Obviously resulting in noticable differences during playback.

Just a thought, it could also be that most have speaker level settings that are barely above or below 0 db, like +1 or -1 so the difference isn't as noticeable and may be why the issue hasn't had much attention. But I do agree I think it'd be worth having as many people check if the issue is on their unit. I'd suspect that there's more out there with the issue. Also, when checking for this issue, if your speaker levels are below 0, bumping the trim should should make the relative channel sound lower.

Grrrr. My unit just expereinced the same issue. I went to trim the level on the surrounds thinking they were too quiet and when I increased the level by 0.5 dB the level jumped MUCH more than this. Just to be sure I decreased the level on the other one and got the same affect. The levels got noticably louder.

On my side this morning I sent one for the PLIIx issue..

i am having the same problem, and in addition my center channel sound sounds low and muffled. I will try for a few more days. I am sure my unit is functioning correctly, It seems I am too damn stupid to figger it out. I will keep trying, and call Emo for help. this really is frustrating. I know a lot of you say its ez to set up. I seem to be having some problems. I went back to stereo for now so I can at least get the doggone thing working and watch a dvd. Video playback is very good.

Be sure this issue is not confused with setting your levels in proper menu(level or calibration in setup, not parameter or on the fly). This issue shows all channel levels correctly, but the surrounds are not actually outputing shown levels until you toggle .5 up or down.If as mentioned your surround levels are set close to 0 you would not notice.
