Just got the UPA-7 delivered today.... I have not opened it yet can't wait....

sweet, i'll gather your using the dennon as a pre-pro? what interconnects did you go with? make sure you play somethings you have before you change to the emo amp, then play them again to compare the avr vs the amp! make sure one of the things is music and at least one is a 5.1 & a 7.1 blu movie. keep us posted please and congrats on your new emo toy!

WOW!!!!! what have I been missing out on.... this amp has awaken my Def Tech up from a deep sleep. (can't wait to hear what 200 watts is going to do XPA-3 should be here tomorrow) that is correct I am going to use the Denon as a pre/pro (I was thinking of getting the UMC-1 in April) but not sure if it is worth it. I used Emotive Ultra RCA's for the cross connects. I will post a more in-depth review of both amps when i have them hooked up. I have my music cd's, SACD and DVA that I am going to use and the movies that I am going to use. stay tuned. this is going to sweet.... |

sorry to say that i have returned the UPA-7 back to Emotiva and bought a UPA-5

Hey Rang
What are your thoughts b/w the UPA-7 and the UPA-5 sound wise? Are there significant sound quality differences between both to your ears?
Reason why I ask is that I have a UPA-7 and am wondering if the UPA-5 sounds different. I believe both the UPA-7 and UPA-5 are very similar design wise except for the gain. The UPA-7 has a again of 27 or 29 db I think vs the 32db gain of the UPA-5.
