I was watching the Blu Ray for "Amelia" yesterday - in the movie previews that come up first, before the first trailer came up the UMC-1 was showing "no audio" (that was true), but when the first MPAA rating screen (green screen, white text) came up there was a momentary delay while apparently the audio processor had to decide what kind of signal it was reading. There was a loud, very brief burst of static, and then the Dolby Digital banner came up on the UMC panel. In between each of the trailers, the display switches to "no audio", and on a 2nd trailer (out of about 4 of them) I got another loud, very brief burst of static through all my speakers, then the regular sound track kicked in.
This is very disconcerting - makes you jump, and is probably very hard on your speaker drivers.
Why is the UMC-1 doing this, and is it something that can be corrected in a future FW update? I already have the latest FW in place.

I already have the latest FW in place. Most AVR/pre have an option for the audio input mapped to a video input that offers three modes. "auto" "digital" and "analog". Once you've mapped the audio to the right video input perhaps for that audio input you can turn off the auto function and set it to just "digital" or what ever naming conventions/paradigm Emo using in the GUI design.
