Does anyone else have an issue with the moto qip 7100 constantly rebooting/power cycling when i shut down the UMC-1? Setup has the STB feeding the UMC-1 which then feeding the TV, all via HDMI. There were no issues with my Onkyo and the same stb, and there are no issues i output the stb directly to my display via HDMI. Even more bizarre, If I hook the STB up to my TV directly via HDMI, and then pull the HDMI cable from the TV the STB does not power cycle. If I do the same with the UMC-1, the STB will power cycle all night long. Any ideas? Non HDMI solutions are a deal breaker (less mess is what the wife says).

Call Emotiva tech support. Given them all of the information you gave here. (don't assume they can or will read every post, always better to call) If they can't resolve your problem, then you will have to decide if you will need to return it or wait until a future firmware hopefully deals with the issue.

I have the same problem with the QIP-7216 ver 1. I asked about the problem in email but they did not have a solution.

I have been in touch with Emotiva Tech support about this crazy problem, and they appear to be a bit befuddled, but willing to look for a solution. The sound and video are great, having to unplug my STB every day not so much.

Of all the reported issues, this one scares me the most because it feels like it might require a hardware fix. Anybody try a Verizon FiOS QIP6416-2?

Verizon just updated the STB software, and the UMC-1 no longer works at ALL....just says DU1, and vzn says it is an HDMI issue. The upside is the STB no longer cycles when I shut down the UMC-1!!!

This certainly is a show stopper for me since I have FIOS. Hopefully it will be fixed prior to my having to take delivery...because if it doesn't work with the FIOS STB, the UMC-1 is useless to me (as well as many other potential buyers).
It would probably be comforting to know if Emotiva has an up to date Motorola Verizon STB in house so they can test it......

This has been my experience with Fios. I have a QIP 6416-1. Eveything was fine when i first connected it to the UMC. After verizon rolled out the IMG update(1.7.1) I lost the handshake between the box(just showing DU1) n the UMC. I tried different inputs on the UMC and the TV, no luck. So i powered on my sony blu ray and got a/v. when i switched over to the input for fios, i had a/v. well the other day when i powered everything up. Idecide to try raising the volume up n down. well wouldn't you know it, i got a/v after that.
Hope This Helps

I hate HDMI.
Could I connect my FIOS box to the UMC-1 using an RGB cable and connect the sound on a digital input .....and then connect my TV using HDMI out of the UMC-1 (for video only). I'd be ok with that until Emotiva works out the HDMI issues.
Have any of you with the motorola FIOS boxes tried that setup?

Do any of you have both component and hdmi cable connected at the same time? I had both connected when I tried hdmi after the fios firmware update. I have not tried disconnecting the componet cable and rebooting to see if I get the same error but it might be worth a try.

My remote controlling the umc. Got a/v after that. I do have the latest firmware on the umc.
