Ok looking at the tiny picture of the backside looks like it has 9.2 channel connections So.....this may very well be an option.

The XMC-1 will hopefully ship Jan or Feb 2011 and yes, I heard it from Big Dan's mouth.... So is it safe to assume this will hit the market around 2012? ;D while i don't doubt their optimism, history has a way of repeating itself. let's hope not, for everyone's sanity!

Who know's maybe they've been working on production in secrecy. Wouldn't surprise me with everything that happened with the UMC-1.

Well there is a box around 2 outputs that look to be the sub outs. THen there is a long box around a bunch of other outputs 9 to be exact I'd imagine these are the speaker outputs.
Edit: Ok nevermind I think you're right.....well this sucks lol. It appears to have a pair of balanced inputs on the far left, then the speakers are next to that, the last 2 connections on the right appear to say SUB.

The word at the 11 a.m. discussion was that they are waiting for a "glue" guy to write the program for all the different components to "work together". This thing looks like a beast!
I don't know what to do about the Wii either as it doesn't have HDMI (that I know of).

The text above the back panel picture says "with ethernet connectivity"......does anyone see an ethernet port on that back panel? I suppose it 'might' have wifi built in....but can't imagine it wouldnt also have an ethernet port.

Nice to hear that the XMC-1 is a 3rd generation platform. Can one infer that this means it will not share any commonality with the UMC-1 then?
If so, I would be interested in the XMC-1 again as it sounds like it may provide a true video pass through option. Q1' may be a bit optimistic if there are only pictures of it at this time. I for one would like to see this ready for beta testing with users here at least a few months prior to its official launch.

This is awesome news for sure. If the XMC-1 is everything it's looking like it's going to be (and that price holds) then I will DEFINITELY be in line for one.

There will be a RJ-45 jack back there on the final production version. The unit will not be Wi-Fi but there will be a "dongle" that you can hook up to it that will alow it to have Wi-Fi access.

I'm not sure. They specifically said at the 11 a.m. discussion that it would share some commonality with the UMC but that it would also be different enough to warrant it being called a different generation processor. I think the big difference will be on the video side of it.

UMC owners that paid full price will be able to get 40%. You can't double dip on the 40% offer by chaining discounts that way. How is it double dipping if the XMC-1 is a third generation processor? If someone had a 40% discount on the UMC-1 that is because they bought the LMC-1. Now they bought the UMC-1 why should it matter if they paid full price or not. The idea I would think is to reward customer loyalty. If someone is a new customer of Emotiva's and buys the UMC-1 as their first purchase gets rewarded where a long time customer is not. Doesn't make sense to me from a view point of rewarding long time Emotiva customers. Bill I thought you were worried about Emo's bottom line in fullfilling upgrade orders in your earlier post? lol If the upgrade certificate is in the box, then I guess you are ok, right? Those that received the UMC at the 40% discount, was an upgrade certificate included?

Hey, everyone. I just got home from a long return trip my Emofest visit. I can probably answer a lot of the questions here, but I'm too tired at the moment. I will do my best to write up some of the early-ish details on the XMC-1, post some pictures, and make some conjectures. I'll also have updates on a few other things, and as time goes on, there will be more to share.

Yes, you are entitled to one 40% off. So you can use it on the UMC or the XMC but not both. I thought the talk from Emofest was that one would get the 40% off on the XMC-1 if they bought a UMC-1. Is that not correct? Maybe it would be best to wait for the offical word from Emotiva. But if that is true then one could use the 40% discount to buy the UMC-1 (from the LMC-1) then use that 40% discount for the XMC-1. But if there are a lot of people that would be applying the 40% discount on the XMC-1 that could possibly be an issue for Emotiva's bottom line when that time comes. Bill I spoke with Dan and Lonnie, both said you could use the discount from the UMC-1 on the XMC-1. Moreover, Dan told me that I could even use it on the high-end pre-pro. That made buying a UMC at $549 a no brainer! Last I had heard, the top end pre-pro was going to be $2000-2500. 40% off is a bargain!

I think the big difference will be on the video side of it. From listening to the presentation, it's my understanding that the XMC is basically a UMC with a fully differential stereo section (I specifically asked Lonnie if the multichannel section was balanced too and he said no) and a better video section. This will help it come out in time with hopefully less firmware updates, as much of it will likely borrow from the UMC. I should also add that they stated the XMC would also use upgraded parts in the output stages.

Any info on the top end pre/pro would be appreciated as I didn't ask/hear about this one. I know that there were units in the pipeline for the new Emotiva Pro but that was direct to installers only and not to the general public. So, I didn't check on those.

Those that received the UMC at the 40% discount, was an upgrade certificate included? ?? I paid normal price for the UMC-1 and didn't get a upgrade certificate lol. I'd be very temped to upgrade to the XMC-1 depending on the features/SQ/PQ but most importantly the stability lol. Is it true for certain it will have a Phono stage, that would be a bonus for me as well as I'm looking at buying a sep Phono to go with my UMC-1
