I only counted 9 xlr outputs on the back photo and two of them are sub outputs. I was hoping to see front wide and front height on the XMC but I guess it is not going to happen. I already have a 7.1 pre-pro ( Onkyo 885) I want a 9.2 or 11.2.

UMC owners that paid full price will be able to get 40%. You can't double dip on the 40% offer by chaining discounts that way. How is it double dipping if the XMC-1 is a third generation processor? If someone had a 40% discount on the UMC-1 that is because they bought the LMC-1. Now they bought the UMC-1 why should it matter if they paid full price or not. The idea I would think is to reward customer loyalty. If someone is a new customer of Emotiva's and buys the UMC-1 as their first purchase gets rewarded where a long time customer is not. Doesn't make sense to me from a view point of rewarding long time Emotiva customers. Bill Here's where I'm at on the 40%.I bought a LMC full price, got 40% off on the UMC(or if I want wait for the XMC).That's the end, if I buy a new prepro full price then I get 40% off the next gen, end of discounts. To expect any more than that you'd have to really have no understanding of biz and profits plus be hard core.

I never understood why the certificates are a big deal as Emotiva knows who have bought processors in the past therefore calling to order the next processor would be verified on the phone thus no need for certificates. There was a long set of posts about the certs. Basically you could sell your processor and keep the cert or you could sell the processor with the cert. It was an interesting discussion. Lose the cert no discount purchase on the next gen. It sort of implied that it made the end user responsible for the upgrade certificate and possibly (don't shoot me), Emo was hoping like all the mfgs who have mail in rebates, that some would get lost/not used. I remember talking to a mfg rep at a trade show about mail in rebates. He stated that less than 10% were ever submitted and paid.

Is Feb 2011 the real release date for this? Or is history going to repeat itself and we will see it in June/July the earliest? A real public beta program will help get this product ready for prime time. Hint hint.

Umc actually started to ship 2/2010. Stable enough to start 30 day trial 9/2010. That is two years from announcement to final product! See why I really can't see a 1/2 full glass at the moment? June is actually reducing the last effort by over 70%!

Kind of wondering what the feature set of the top end unit is going to be or even if they have an idea of where they are going with it. Doesn't sound like they have much planned yet. Will it be 9.1 or 12.4 (max that blu-ray supports). For 2000-2500 I would sure hope it includes everything you'd ever want Don't be fooled. They have been working/designing it for some time. I was told at Emofest that the "loose estimated time of arrival" is 12-18 months. From what I have been told, and unfortunately I was asked to keep it secret, it will be VERY impressive on a performance standpoint and quite different from the UMC and XMC. What I think I can repeat involves the asthetics. Lonnie talked (with myself and 2 other people) about this upper-end line having super asthetics. He even mentioned an older cd player that actually opened the top automaticaly when touched, so one could put in a cd.

Well 12-18 months is too far off, but if it does have the presence channels at the very least it could be an upgrade path for me further down the road. But I will be purchasing something in the next 6-8 months.

I already have a 7.1 pre-pro ( Onkyo 885) I want a 9.2 or 11.2. That is correct, it has 7 Channels for speakers, and 2 for subs. So it's only 7.2, the other set of XLR/RCA's are analog/balanced inputs.

Well majority of blu-rays do 7.1....... Really?? Most Blu-rays have HD audio 5.1 and 7.1 tracks. The Blu-ray spec can have up to 12.4 tracks though.

You are a pragmatist. However, you can only take that position if you have concluded that Emo learned nothing from the debacle with the UMC-1.
Also, the truth is: We need to have the official release, know if the same chipset is being utilized. Then, we need a period of questions and answers regarding Emo-q, and bass management at least before we voice any negativity.

... and dare I say pick some of us lounge members to assist with a closed beta a few months before release (I'm on the XMC pre-order, hint, hint).

We'll provide detailed product advice by the end of next week, along with lots of other news. In the meantime, let's enjoy this beautiful day! Best regards, Dan I can't wait to hear more! Let me salute you for the awesome range Emotiva presented yesterday. Since I am in Belgium, being there was impossible (although, what's that French guy doing there?). XPR-1 will become a legend. PS: anyone want to buy two XPA-1 from Belgium? You may want to hang onto your XPA's. I asked both Dan and Lonnie their honest timpressions regarding the comparison of the XPA-1 and the XPR-1. Both, I stress BOTH, opined that they preferred the sound of the XPA-1 and stated it had slightly better SQ than the XRP-1. However, the XPR-1 has double the power of the XPA-1. So, I guess if you had really inefficient speakers, you might want to change amps. I had a lot of fairly specific questions regarding E's product line and I was fortunate to get all the answers I needed. I can honestly say that neither Dan nor Lonnie tried to upsale me on anything and honestly gave the the answers I was seeking. For example, this is a little off topic, but Lonnie told me point blank that the XSP-1 would have a slight edge in stereo SQ over the XMC, but the XMC would be a definate upgrade in SQ over the UMC.

I'm sure that was a Bang & Olufsen unit. They have been doing stuff like that since the 80's.
They take a philips CD player and add the fancy touches (pun intended) and sell it at B&O prices.

When Emotiva talk about SQ upgrades on the processors, do they just mean the stereo/analogue or for the 7.1+ surround/HT?

Lonnie & Dan: Please, please come to a decision to use some choiced members of this forum to do beta tersting of the XMC-1. These folks must have selected equipment and bound to utter secrecy.
I believe that I know quite well the dispositions of most of the regular posters to this forum. I can provide assistance in selecting the group from which the the beta tester would be selected.

Thanks for the info! The XPA-1 are already more than enough @ 1000 W in 4 ohm while the Jamo's are rated for 550 W / 4 ohm. Anyway, the house build is already 35K over the estimate, so it looks we will be eating sandwiches with nothing in them for a while No amp upgrading then! And of course the XSP-1 is better for 2ch vs the XMC-1, that's it's reason d'être...

To expect any more than that you'd have to really have no understanding of biz and profits plus be hard core. Why can't you use the 40% discount on the UMC-1 (2nd gen.) from the LMC-1 (1st gen.) then use the 40% from the UMC-1 for the XMC-1 (third gen.)? I mean those that are buying the UMC-1 now (say a new customer) will get 40% off of the XMC-1. Why can't long standing loyal customers be taken care of? I'm sure Emotiva will clear this up. I understand business and profits quite well. It is Emotiva that is saying the XMC-1 will be a 3rd generation prepro where as before it was a 2nd generation unit. When it was a 2nd generation prepro one had to chose between the UMC-1 or the XMC-1 for the 40% discount. It is also Emotiva's choice to do the 40% discount offer to increase sales. You get that right ? Bill

I have no clue what the CD loading has to do with the ZMC-1, but you do know when they asked to keep it secret this excluded the Lounge. We promise not to tell! From the few things that were told before, I remember the HDMI matrix. I remember Mr Laufman writing about his "skeptism" on more speakers (DSX etc), but it would be bad business not to give in to it: more speakers = more amps to sell! I can live with 18 months. Starting now!

If Emotiva GAVE some forum members one of everything they ever make, those people would still find something to stir the pot about. Not pointing at anyone in particular......just making an observation. Oh wait....I almost forgot the obligatory smiley face Ok, I should be safe now.
