You know how much I luv that avatar Pauly, it suits you just real fine! * And besides, you, I, and other members here at the Lounge, are not preaching what we don't believe in. And we're not even showing what we truly luv either. And that is humility, modesty, simplicity, real science, and pure dedication to the real good things of life.

After having once owned a USP-1, and currently owning two UPA-1s, two Ultra 12" subs, an XPA-5, and with two XPA-1s on the way, with plans to pick up two X series xlr cables and an X series digital coax cable during the current sale (waiting for payday) and XDA-1 (and possibly the XSP-1) in the future...you could say I am a bit of a believer in Emo... What can I say, Emotiva audio sells gear that will FAR out perform what the price tags would lead you to believe. When you get your Emo gear, you will become a believer as well. Welcome to the forum!

you can't use the word belief and UMC-1 in the same sentence... I agree though on XPA-5

I believe in their amplifiers and, for the most part, in their customer service. I don't believe in their UMC-1. YMMV. ... Give Emo some time with high rez multi-channel processors and they will get it right. Just remember, there are many UMC-1 owners that are very happy with it. I have no doubt that Emotiva will eventually "get it right" with processors, and I have no doubt that many UMC-1 owners are happy with their units. But seeing as how I was replying to the OP's question ("DO YOU BELIEF IN EMOTIVA?"), neither of these points has anything to do with my personal lack of belief in the UMC-1. And, anyway, like I said in my original post: YMMV.

I was skeptical at first, had problems with my UMC-1 but Emotiva took care of me and is still working on one more issue with handshaking and HDMI. At least thats the only problem I have.
Other than that I would say you are in for a real treat with the equipment they sell. I just started with a UPA-5 and now I have the itch for a couple of XPA-1s since I really love music.
I have 3 of their products so far and the sound is overwelming compared to my old Sony AVR.
I can only imagine how much better the other amps sound because the UPA-5 with the UMC-1 sound great.

Last January I decided I wanted to upgrade the power driving my speakers from my Denon 4802 AVR being my speakers are 4 ohms and the Denon was not rated to 4 ohms. I ordered a UPA-7 when it was on sale connected it to the analog out of the Denon and was I surprised with the difference in sound coming from my speakers they never sounded so good. In February my son was having problems with his AVR’s amp section (note he lives 438 miles away) his birthday was coming and we went to see him, I took my UPA-7 to try on his AVR it took cared of his problem, he loved the way his system sounded. Now it was his birthday and I did not want to carry that heavy amp all the way home I left it there and I ordered a XPA-5. Things went down hill from there XPA-5 = even more power and better sound then came the UMC-1 (which I love) then an ERC-1 and just added 2 XPA-1’s the only thing I can say about the XPA-1’s is WOW. Think I’m a believer? ;D ;D ;D ;D

Why speculate when some of the Emotiva amps have been bench tested, and you can compare the results to the specs.
Note that Emotiva is not the the only player in the budget amp market. Many pro amps also have good power for the dollar.

i just purchased the XPA-5 AND THE UMC-1 hope emotiva is all that and more than a bag of chips. Emotiva has CLAIMED CRAZY SPEC ON ALL OF THE Amplifier. I CAN'T FIND matching SPEC ON OTHER Amplifier BRAND except MCINTOSH BUT THAT starts at $10,000. THE EMOTIVA SPEC IS so good it hard to BELIEF. DO YOU BELIEF IN EMOTIVA? HOPE emotiva is a great product . I HAVE GREAT confidence IN EMOTIVA. BUT SOMETIME I THINK IT'S TO GOOD TO BE TRUE. I just found this thread so I am sorry for the late reply. We have always tried to be as open and honest about the specs on the gear as possible. We publish all the test data so everyone can see for themselves and if anyone is in the area and wants to get something, we are happy to put it on the bench and run the test on their amp. We have had a couple of typos on a couple of things but when brought to our attention we corrected it quickly. I encourage you to seek out remarks from others (like you are doing here), but also check out independant test made by other companies doing reviews. Most will publish their own test data which is a good indicator that we are being honest. I think once you get the gear, you won't be disappointed. ;D

I believe! IMC-1 , upa 5, upa 1 (X2), USP and etc... I believe all the way around. And for the record. I bought my imc after the latest firmware update and have had zero problems. What are the specs of this new "IMC-1"?

Hi Lonnie, Speaking of test data, can you point me to (or email) some fequency/SPL graphs for the reference speakers please? The ERD-1 and ERM-6.3 in particular for obvious reasons. Thanks!

I've owned every amp Emotiva makes, except for the XPA-1 and all of their speakers except the 8.3. Actually I've owned multiple EMO amps & speakers, multiple times over the years. Currently I own an XPA-2, XPA-3, UPA-1, RPA-2, RSP-1 and a pair of ERDs. I've also owned a LMC-1 & a UMC-1.
My personal experience with the amps has been fantastic, awesome and basically trouble free. My experience with the processors has not been very good.
But I am a believer, a fanboy, a customer for life and a supporter of Emotiva. I will be honest in my assessment and will say what I think because of what I have experienced -- fair & balanced -- good or bad!! ;D

In the end you get what you pay for. Does specs mean everything. No. Emo is a good budget entry level amp. Will it best a Krell , McIntosh, etc. No and I would never expect it to as its a different build design, quality, type, etc.
If you are using this for solely HT its a ok amp. If you are into serious 2 channel there are better choices out there IMO. Spec are not everything, SQ is and SQ on these for 2 channel is not what I seek.

You get what you pay for to an extent IMO. I've heard some pretty expensive gear that doesn't sound much better than Emo, Outlaw, Parasound etc. I feel that you have to fork over a great deal of money to get a big improvement over the top of the line Emo gear, like the XPA-1's. My Emo XPA-5 is just as good as the Parasound 5125, and the 5250. It's actually amazingly close to the Halo gear as well. The UPA-1's that I borrowed from my Dad were definitely better than my Halo A23, and were more on par with the A21. So I think you can safely say that the main competition to Emo as far as SQ goes, is most of the Parasound stuff, Higher end NAD, Cambridge Audio etc. IMO, if you want to get much better SQ than all of those, you're going to be paying a butt load of money. I'm very happy that I found Emo, because I've had Cambridge and Parasound stuff before, and the Emotiva gear is easily on par with them, and sometimes better for a lot less in most cases.

I truly enjoy my entry level RPA-1. Maybe when I win the lottery I'll buy a Krell to hear what I'm missing or not missing. Or if Emo made a mono block with bad a** meters on the front like McIntosh I would buy a pair of those and truly be done buying amplifiers.
I have to agree with Pauly though that you would have to spend a considerable amount more to get a worthwhile improvement in SQ.
