I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I just got an XPA-5, and it has turned out to be a very impressive amp indeed. I also have a UMC-1, which is just flat out incredible for the price IMO. The XPA-5 compares very well against some big name brands out there, I know that from experience. Same goes for the UMC. The UMC doesn't have the bells and whistles like the Onkyos and Denon's, and it has had it's problems since it came out, but with the latest updates, it has proven to be pretty stable, and the SQ really is great. It is also one of the most flexible pre/pros out there for tuning and tweaking. If you are expecting Emo to out perform the multi thousand dollar equipment, then you might be let down. But it does get you surprisingly close for a whole lot less, and the customer service can't be beat.

Mannyg35 After you get your gear you are going to graduate from hoping and go to knowing. Emotiva routinely posts very conservative specs on their web site. Just go to the XPA-5's product page and scroll down toward the bottom of the page. You will see that Emotiva posts the actual test results in a PDF for both 8 Ohm and 4 Ohm loads. Just click on one of them and you can see the results from the Audio Precision Test for a randomly chosen unit. There is good reason why Secrets of Home Theater HiFi and Audioholics rave about the Emotiva products. They simply offer extraordinary performance for unheard of affordable prices. The build quality and the sound quality of Emotiva gear competes with products from the Big Names of A/V equipment.

...And specs are just that; small tiny dots in the sky of the vast horizon. The TRUE REAL proof is in the PUDDING!

Look at one of Emo's units in person and you can see how solidly built they are. They've gotten great reviews. You can look at pictures of the internal structure and see the quality. But all that is secondary to how the equipment sounds. That's the proof right there and all the specs in the world are meaningless unless the sound is there. Which it is.

I believe in their amplifiers and, for the most part, in their customer service. I don't believe in their UMC-1. YMMV.

I believe in their amplifiers and, for the most part, in their customer service. I don't believe in their UMC-1. YMMV. Even the great Toyota Motors Corp had their hiccup. They got things corrected and the Camry is once again the best selling vehicle. Give Emo some time with high rez multi-channel processors and they will get it right. Just remember, there are many UMC-1 owners that are very happy with it. Many of the reported problems with the UMC-1 turned out not to have originated with the UMC-1. This should have its own sticky thread. And yes, there are some with genuine issues, but these appears to be the minority. jamrock

Do I Believe In Emotiva?
You bet your life I do.
I love my RPA-1 amplifier. It would be the last piece of my system I would ever part with if it ever came down to it.
My ERC-1 is a great cd player. Sounds as good as my $1200 Pioneer Elite DVD SACD player and much more solidly built to boot.
The USP-1 is an incredible value. I will hate to part with it when the XSP-1 arrives. I can't believe they only get $399 for it. What a steal.
Customer service has been nothing but outstanding for me. I'm a customer for life.
So, Do I Believe In Emotiva? HELL YES!!!

I bought the UMC after the 7.2 firmware came out, and I don't see anything wrong with it. It has video switching hiccups here and there, but big deal. The thing just sounds great! IMO, and I'm sure others with good units will say too, the pluses far outweigh the negatives. There are negatives with any piece of gear out there, and I feel there are very few with the UMC.
Anyway, every piece of Emo gear I've bought has sounded great, looked great, been reliable, and they're all cheap. What more could you ask for? I probably sound like the "typical fanboy" but...well...I guess I am lol.

Pauly, You're such a "typical fanboy". ;D ;D Look who's talking! I have always tried NOT to be a fanboy of anything(except for my Portland Trailblazers lol) but I have come to the realization lately, that I can't keep from being a fanboy of Emo, and am not ashamed to say so
