That review is nothing but a preview, something audioholics does which is nothing more than a promotional like blurb. They do this with many of their 'reviews' and they don't tell much.

Some real haters out there... don't get it. Whenever I go to other forums I am blown away by the anger and venom, and not all of it towards us... but plenty of it is. Most of the people have never even touched the gear they have their strong opinions about, but that doesn't keep them from shooting their mouths off... it's amazing what people can say when they are hiding behind an avatar. Life it too short.

People do seem to love to argue and complain an awful lot.And I think they do it more online because they don't have to face their opponents directly. In real life they might just get a serious case of "whoop ass" if they got too offensive but online they have no fear and no respect. So many arm chair experts are just sure that they are right when in fact they are nothing but ignorant at best.

I'd be willing to bet that not one of the jerks on that thread owns any Emotiva products, and certainly none of them have likely even seen an XPR-5 amp. Idiots. Ignore idiots.

Big Dan is so right when he said life is too short. Some people are always just looking for anything to be negative.

Actually a lot of the "idiots" and "jerks" that have commented in that thread have owned/own Emotiva amps. It's just not their cup of tea, no skin off my back.

I think they just assume that something that cheap with the words emotiva and those specs must be lies or poorly reported specs. Because there's no way that their loved brands could be beaten or matched by cheaper equipment.

Two of my favorite quotes, one about speaking with authority, but without knowledge, and the other about argument and irony.
Scarecrow: I haven't got a brain... only straw. Dorothy: How can you talk if you haven't got a brain? Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they? Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right. __________________________________
M: An argument isn't just contradiction. A: It can be. M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition. A: No it isn't. M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction. A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position. M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.' A: Yes it is! M: No it isn't!

I make sure Emotiva gets its due on other forums. In fact I just got to demo a prototype cdp from another company and the ERC-2 beat it handily. I was tactful in my review, but honest. The problem with forums like Audioholics though is that they cater to the middle ground. Any HT focused forum is going to be full of goombahs. No disrespect to any HT guys here, of course

Right on Dan. As Cartman would say, "Screw those guys!" He doesn't use those exact words, now does he? He uses the F-word... South Park is always on the teevees in the gym, so I have no choice but to watch it.

I found Emotiva products by accident browsing the internet looking for a cheap good preamp. I was only looking to spend up to $150. I then came across the UMC-1 which was alot more than the budget. I figured I would give it a try only wanted it for stereo use. Once I got it I was amazed at how awesome it was and quickly moved it to the media room to se its full potential then 2 days later ordered an XPA-5. I love the stuff they make so far exceeds all my expectations and then some. I am not an Audiophile by any means just a guy who likes music and movies and video games all to sound great! I know the XPR-5 Is on the wants list just need to sell some stuff and save up to get it as the wife says.

It is interesting to note that back a few months ago all of a sudden on the Audioholics forums there was a real hate on for Axiom speakers and it continued unabated for quite some time, UNTIL, it was proven that because the principals at both Axiom and Audioholics(who had a prior long-term positive relationship) had a disagreement about something or other all followed up by Axiom eventually pulling their advertising, that much of the venom that was continually being spewed out on their forum and encouraged was eventually traced back to one of the principals at Audioholics who later apologized(after being caught, of course).
One may or may not like Axiom speakers but after that episode, to me, Audioholics credibility AND objectivity disappeared and I couldn't be bothered again with their reviews in the concern there was always some other questionable motive on the part of the principals at that publication.
