Hello Everyone:
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a pair of XPA-1s; however, I don't want to make the jump if there is going to be an XPR-1 coming out or if the XPA-1s are going to get a facelift anytime soon. Can anybody out there fill me in on this, so I can decide whether to wait or not.
Thanks!

We were told that the XPR-2 & XPR-1 would be following close behind the XPR-5 that just got released. How close behind is to be determined by Emotiva. As for the XPA-1, I doubt a facelift will be coming anytime soon. If you want more definitive answers I'd suggest calling Emotiva, I'm sure they'll tell you what you need to know. When you find out come back and give us an update.

Why would you wait for a facelift on the XPA-1? It's an amp, I can't see how they can improve it in any way, just buy them now.
If you want more power and are patient then wait for the XPR-1.
Dave.

There is a XPR-1 coming, but it won't fully balanced. Facelift? I don't think so..
Pull the trigger? You mean buy? :-) :-)

I'm pretty sure there is thread around here where Dan says "The XPA-1 is our statement amplifier and will be the only one that is truly balanced to work with the XSP-1 and ERC-2" Gotta find that quote :-)

Yup, I knew I was not crazy :-) From June 2012 emotivalounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=amps&thread=24457&page=1 #27 From Big Dan: Hi guys, The XPA-1 is the only Differential Reference amplifier in the line for now. It is designed to complement our other Differential Reference components, such as the ERC-2, the the XSP-1,etc. All of these components features truly balanced circuit topologies (not just balanced connectors). We are working on a baby brother for the XPA-1 but it's not something to think about until next year.
Now as far as lines are concerned, the XPA Series is not being replaced by the XPR series. They are two distinct lines.
X is our core line. This is the heart and soul of Emotiva. It will also be our largest line of products.
Ultra is our value line, designed to bring high performance audio to you at prices that make great sound affordable to anyone.
X Reference is our "no holds barred line", and as a general rule, it will all also feature very high power amplifiers! (You can never have too much power) It is the designed to be the biggest and the baddest. We'll put XPR up against anything out there.
There are no plans at present for an XPA-700, however we are working on an new XPA-7, as has been previously noted elsewhere.
Hope this helps, Cheers, Dan

Oh man, I am really looking forward for the baby brother in the Differential Reference line! The XPR-1 will be a "bigger brother" to the current XPA-1.

Thank you to all who replied on this thread.
Based on what I'm hearing, I think I'll hold out for the new XPR-1s. It sounds like it's going to be an awesome amp! Is there any ETA?

What truly differentiates the XPR-1 from the XPA-1? How can both co-exist within Emotiva's product lines very long?

Different power specs? Different price points? Why wouldn't they?

It's balanced the same way the XPA-1 is balanced or in a different way? For instance the thing that confuses me is quad differential and dual differential. As in it does that out of phase or inverted signal thing to cancel out distortions?

Lonnie, will we be able to listen to an XPR-1 at Emofest? I'd love to see how it's sound compares to the XPA-1. I love the look of the XPR's and the lighting flexibility is awesome.

Hello,
I am in a similar situation and I was told by a sales rep, Vince, I believe that the XPA-1 will continue to be their true audiophile amp.
The XPR-1 will have more power for home theater application.
Depending on what you are looking for that could be a guide.
