It's so good. I choose to listen to my music 2.0. Sans my dual subs.
(Plus I had an xsp1 in hand but didn't like the fact I could only use 1 of my two sub outs on the avr to the xsp1 bypass input)
So 2.0 it is instead of 2.2

I don't need bass mgmt or HT bypass so in theory I can replace my USP-1 with the DC-1 and should have considerably better sound. The DC-1 dac will upgrade my ERC-1 player and with better gain stage/less features of the DC-1 it will give me a better preamp sound. Am I right in assuming this? Would the improvement be great enough to be worth the cost or should I stand pat? My associated gear is an Odyssey Stratos amp & Dunlavy Athena speakers. In your situation I would highly recommend the DC-1 to use as botha DAC and preamp. IMO, the DC-1 is not only an excellent sounding DAC, it is a stellar preamp as well. The volume control on it is superior to the one on the USP-1, and if you do not require the additional features of the USP-1 (bass management/ht bypass/multiple analog inputs/etc) then I say "go for it". Good luck with whatever you choose. A big +1. Go for it.....

After reading as much as possible about the product the past few hours I pulled the trigger and decided to give the DC-1 a try. Thanks all.

I'm hoping it will take my system to another level. With all the positive comments it's hard not to be confident that it will.

Please advise why my new DC-1 shows 44.1K while playing 192K files from JRiver Media Center 19? Are there any settings?

The DC1 shows what the computer is sending.
On a Mac, that's set in Audio Midi.
On a PC, can't help.

Did you configure JRiver to use WASAPI? You need to do this in order to bypass Window's control of the audio device and allow JRiver to communicate directly with the DC-1. If you did not, Windows will still resample all output.

WOW! Did you guys see that the DC-1 is still on sale? That's awesome! Emotiva extending the sale price on this very popular item. I know for myself, I wanted the DC-1 more than any other product in the sale (aside from perhaps a couple XPR-1s LOL!) and I think there has probably been a recent surge in sales, due to the Emo getting a lot of attention on a forum that is dedicated to computer audio and headphone listening specifically. IMO, it's odd that the Emo brand has not received much attention there before. The Mini-X is popular as a planar HP driver, but even that has a limited market, so it's nice to see the DC-1 thread there growing a bit. Hopefully, this will open up a large market segment for them. IMO, the DC-1 is on par with the XSP-1 in terms of true hi-fi sound quality. I honestly feel that Lonnie and the crew poured everything they could into developing these two products, and it shows. In my initial testing of the DC-1, I used it as a preamp, then into the XSP-1, and finally moved it to my laptop for it's final spot in my home. Friday night, when I got home from work, I swapped it out for the XSP-1 again (using it as a preamp) and have been doing more listening over the weekend. I have left it powered on the entire time (as recommended by several on here) and will continue to listen like this until I get the urge to put my system back together as I am used to it. Afterwards, I plan to post some follow up thoughts on the DC-1 as a DAC/preamp only. No worries, I plan to keep the follow up thoughts as brief as I possibly can.

New user and having trouble getting 192 bit depth to play on the Dac-1. Using a macbook and Jriver. When I play a 192 file on Jriver it imports it as 192 but then resamples it to 96. I've spent hours trying to correct this but no luck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have everything uncheck in Jriver output options. Could it be problem with the Dac-1? On my Macbook pro Audio Midi only goes as high as 96 bit rate. Does that mean that I can not play 192 Flack files on this computer?

maybe.
My Macbook air shows up to 192, and that's what shows on the DC1.
How old is your Macbook?

Also, what O/S version are you on?
If not Mavericks, best to do that update as a first step.

I am no pro, but I'll take a stab at this for you.. 1) It is most probable that there is no problem with the DC-1 2) If the motherboard and/or CPU chipset in your computer can't process 24bit-192kHz audio, you cannot offer a true 24/192 signal to the DC-1 3) I'm sorry idk anything about Macs.. or Jriver, but what I can suggest is checking out the capabilities of your internal devices (CPU Chipset & Mobo) and then calling the Emotiva Tech Support Team at 1-877-366-8324. Goodluck! ..and be sure to let us know how you made out.

IMO, the DC-1 is on par with the XSP-1 in terms of true hi-fi sound quality. I honestly feel that Lonnie and the crew poured everything they could into developing these two products, and it shows. Nice to know this cause I just ordered the DC-1 over the weekend (along with the XPS-1 as I plan to venture into the vinyl world really soon). I love love love my XDA-2 (as DAC and preamp) but it's lack of analog input would not allow me to play records. So I was initially planning to order the XSP-1 but good that it is unavailable because it gave me more time to think through what I need/want in my system. I don't have a sub and while I may like to play/experiment with the tone control it is really not a major factor for me. So here's what I thought for $899 I will get a phono preamp and tone control from the XSP-1 vs $628 for the DC-1 and XPS-1 the answer became obvious. The only question in my mind was hi-fi SQ of the DC-1 vs the XSP-1.
