Here's a question for ya: Is it possible to use the 40% discount card for purchase of one of the "Secret Sale" UMC-1s? -RW- The Upgrade Certificate is for 40% off next-gen processors - the successors to the UMC-1. You do get an upgrade certificate if you purchase one of the Factory Renewed UMC-1s. We only have a few left!

Dang... I would have bought this right now, but I see no mention of Dolby Volume which is a must in my household so I assume it was removed on this model

Here's a question for ya: Is it possible to use the 40% discount card for purchase of one of the "Secret Sale" UMC-1s? -RW- I'm going to say No, because the card is for a next generation processor. Correct! And the rest of the pertinent info concerning the UMC-200 and -500: The UMC-1 is being discontinued, with the last shipment arriving mid-Septemberbut it will be essentially replaced by the UMC-200! Ultra will have a UMC-200 ($699, Timing ~end of year) and UMC-500 ($999, Shipping ~January 2013). Neither had legacy video support or video processing, and each use the HDMI switching that is essentially the same as on the XMC-1 but built onto another board in the unit instead of on its own board. UMC-200 has RCA outputs, UMC-500 has available XLRs. Fronts include microphone and headphone inputs, and various other buttons for controlling the unit. The UMC-200s volume control was via buttons (not a knob). The UMC-200 was demod and working, but the OSD details were not yet final. The UMC-500 was in the lab. The UMC-200 has Bluetooth connectivity, EmoQ Gen 2, all the standard decoding formats from the UMC-1 + Dolby PLIIz, 4 HDMI v 1.4 w/ARC & CEC, a balanced sub out, 3 zones, a standby video mode that allows the unit to be off but pass info on to a TV while off, and a new slim plastic remote (that includes a programmable hot key). FW updates will be more like the UMC-1 than the XMC-1. The HDMI switching was very quick in the demo. Also, it includes a parametric EQ that includes 11 filters/channel AND you can adjust which range each filter controls via the menu. That the 40% upgrade coupon will be good for any of the new processors, including the UMC-200 and UMC-500. Can't use the 40% off card on the UMC-1.

It appears the form factor is 1.5 RU. The UMC-1 was 2 RU. Will there be black trim? For that matter, will there be 3 RU trim pieces available? Or 1 RU?

How about on-the-fly trim level adjustment buttons on the remote? I think every Emo processor(and receiver)has had that, so I would hope this one does too.
Speaking of which, I still haven't seen a pic of the remote. Isn't this one plastic? That's a good thing imo. The metal remotes are very cool, but they can scratch your wristwatch to hell.

Sure looks like it, and it says 3 1/4" high ... that's different. Now we need black trim in 1U, 1.5U, & 3U (and hopefully 5U when the XPA-7 is released).

I was reading through everything, approaching the last page and expecting to be the first to ask about black trim, but you guys just beat me to it. The form factor is my only gripe with this unit. If I don't know that black trim will definitely be available (soon), I might not buy it only for that reason. We've waited a long time for black trim pieces for the XDA-1 so it will have me worried if there is no mention of black trim for this unit size.
Other than that it looks like a nice replacement for the original UMC that should suit me fine, granted everything actually does work well and that it doesn't suffer from the same kinks that still remain with the UMC-1. That would actually be my only reason to get it - I don't really need any of the new features, I just want the fundamentals to work without hiccups.

Enough of the "sneak peaks". We need a formal introduction thread of this model by Emotiva with all of the capabilities and answers to already posted questions in a sticky on top. This unit deserves it. Here is my question: I see Pro Logic IIz support. Does this mean we can assign one of the surround outs or zone outs as heights?

Manual ...i wonder when that will come?
Wow released and discounted in the same breath...
I dont like the change in height tho...makes it hard to line up with other emo gear in a horizontal plane. I hope the xsp and xmc are in the same 3U formats

How about on-the-fly trim level adjustment buttons on the remote?... This is an important feature for me... every TV program seems to have entirely different use of the front/center channels. When the fronts blare music and sound-effects to such an extent they mask the center, I go on the fly from the UMC-1 metal remote and up the center trim and turn down the general volume; different for different programs. Would be very annoying to have to navigate menus to make this happen. Could one at least program the "hot key" to dig down into the menus and raise the center channel volume? Love the HDMI pass-through but really really want to know what the UMC-500 will have in addition more than I've seen so far: XLR-outs on all channels, tempting.

If I was to get this unit would there be any need or advantage to using my XDA-1 along with it? Seems all the inputs are there already.

That's going to be an individual call, the UPA-200 (like the UPA-1) will have a built in DAC so functionally it should do all you need (unless you're using the XDA USB input, no USB DAC support on UMC).
