First question: Can anyone figure out if I can update it using a OSX machine where the UMC-1 was PC only update?
I was just at Emo HQ today dropping off my X-Ref 12 for repair. Wish I could have heard and seen one.

So, does anyone know, was there a 'Wait List' for the UMC-200? This holiday season is going to be a good one on these boards... I don't know about you guys but this is flippin’ cool right here… Perfect for baseball and your favorite play-by-play announcer.

That 'more like the UMC-1' for updates caught my eye. Although I've never updated one I've read about too many problems with that update. Did they not learn anything from the UMC-1 update debacle?

Well guys, In my case, this model is perfect for my needs and as a excellent match for my UPA-500 amp. Thus I have already sent out the international quote form. Talk about a quick decision !!! Lol Mel

As mentioned before, we DID learn a lot. We have a very simple to use and robust SW loader. It just works. Automatically knows what to do. Also, updates should be few and far in-between...

Notice the 25% off for life? I've always been a little disappointed that I (and others) bought the UMC-1 at the $699 price, only to see it drop to $499 in a short amount of time. Should I wait for this one to drop too, so I don't have to pay the $200 premium? Yeah, technology will always get cheaper and you can't let it keep you from enjoying what you have or buying something new when you need or want it. The UMC-200 is a lot of processor for $699, at the holiday price of $599, or the discount card price of $420 it's incredible. If you want to move up from the UMC-1 and don't want to go all the way to the XMC-1, I don't think you'll see a better price for a long time.

Thats very encouraging. I was simply reading what was posted on this thread: emotivalounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=updates&action=display&thread=25877Thanks Dan. And I agree with the cost of buying things. I've yet to buy something retail that I could sell for more than I paid. I bought a new Integra DHC 40.1 almost three years ago for $1100 - I sold it on ebay recently for $375 shipped. I think the UMC-1 has held it's used price better than that Integra.

Here's a question for ya: Is it possible to use the 40% discount card for purchase of one of the "Secret Sale" UMC-1s?

Guess I will pass on this one then I wouldn't give up just yet. If the UMC-200 is updated with a thumb drive and OSX can read and write in the required file format (probably FAT or FAT32) then the answer would be yes. I suspect Dan or Lonnie would know this. They have the product page up but as of yet I don't see a user's manual posted. If it requires a windows environment to update you should know someone that has a laptop - yes?

I could certainly borrow one but prefer to be able to do "updates" without having to depend on someone else if updates are required. I have read most of whats available but no mention of OS requirement other than what was posted earlier. I'll just wait and see what "other's" experiences are from this new processor. I really do not think I need the XMC-1 for my little system and was hoping to replace my aging Denon with something new and exciting.

I had kind of expected some change from 40% off processors with a certificate, to the new 25% off for life approach. The 25% off for life is probably wiser long term. I thought Emotiva might have scraped the program completely. I do hope the XMC-1 will be upgradable and relevant for at least a few years.
