How about firmware updates for the UMC-1? I think they are done. What do you need fixed?

It would be nice to know the difference with the 200 and the 500 so customers could decide if they want to wait or not. It would suck to wait for the 500 but end up only needing the 200 and missing the sale. So you're saying that this 200 will be so good there won't be any used ones floating around? I doubt that. It would appear the UMC-200 is the UMC-1 redux IMO. It has a warmed over EMO-Q second gen RCS and loses the video processing which easily enables video pass-through while powered off. Not much change other than that to be seen. I'll wait for the XMC-1.

But 11 bands of PEQ, EmoQ 2, HDMI 1.4 and 3d support, easy firmware upgrades and video on standby are nothing to sneeze at. I'm sure it will fit the bill for many people.

You might search for the thread bootman started on this after EmoFest, I think as much as is known was covered there.

So is the volume control analog like the UMC-1?

So is the volume control analog like the UMC-1? I would think that it's probably a digitally controlled analog volume control. Similar to the XSP-1 volume control, but in this case it is push button as opposed to a volume knob.

I'm glad to see that you are well rested and can hit the board so early. Can you advise if Emo-Q/Gen2 can be 'transported' to the UMC-1 and also confirm whether or not the XMC-1, although coming along nicely, is it still on the last mentioned delivery schedule?

Hoping that we could get the new 2nd gen Emo-Q. THAT would be cool... but I just don't see it happening.

Emo-Q Gen 2 will not transport to the UMC-1.
Lonnie will have more advice on the operation of the EmoQ Gen 2 in the very near future. It uses a different approach to room correction than the original Emo-Q, and is IMO, much improved. You may have noticed we use fully parametric equalizers in the UMC-200, which is a big improvement, and allows for much more accurate correction and frequency response tailoring.
The UMC-200 is not a warmed over UMC-1. Other than the the fact that we are using the well developed Cirrus decoders, it is essentially all new.
The XMC-1 and the UMC-200 are designed to serve different markets. Both are excellent products in their respective categories.
Cheers, Big Dan

Thank you Dan for the timely and exhaustive response. I do hope that the XMC-1 will have the features of the UMC-200 and much, much more. Peace out!
