When you say the mismatch errors will clear, how long does it take? I also have OSD errors. What is the exact sequence of things to,do after the 4 successful firmware loads? I also notice when I try the alternate method all 4 files are highlighted, yet when the process starts some become unchecked on their own.
Thanks
Mel

A general note for those that have persistent OSD mismatch errors - please ensure that the Re-program radio button is selected. By default Skip is selected so unless one is paying attention, it's easy to run the step thinking it's done but it's skipped!

Tried it this morning, following the steps outlined, but the second firmware didn't take minuets to load, it only took seconds, went from write... to successful very quickly. The same happened with the third file, just seconds. Then I try to do the fourth file and it fails, every time. The unit is stuck in upgrade mode now.
Any advice? Do I have to unplug the USB from the UMC-200 between every firmware upgrade before I turn the back panel switch on again?

I tried that too, but mine didn't load from the 4th file it went from the top down. I just don't think it's taking the second or third files properly for some reason.

I didn't know until now that it wasn't advisable to keep an USB cable plugged into my UMC-200. I had kept it plugged in ever since I first got my UMC-200 because doing that would let me use my USB extension cable to connect it to my computer in a much more convenient fashion, later on (i.e., without me having to struggle to reach the USB port on the backside of my UMC-200).
I have removed the USB cable after the firmware update was successful, as per instructions noted in the .pdf file. The update procedure went entirely trouble-free.

Well, I tried again this AM and finally got it. The breakthrough was the post that noted the software slips out of the reprogram mode, so once I put it in and ran the alternate method all was well. I'm glad it's up and running, but it would have been nice if the official instructions had worked. Thanks to the members for suggestion an alternate method.
Now if only, there was a change log.
Thanks to all for the suggestions. Great community. And a great product, but the software install was an unnecessary all night chore.

Just wanted to chime in and report that I'm experiencing exactly the same symptoms as as mjrtoo. The installation of the first firmware module completed without issues, but the second and third modules seem to take seconds instead of minutes to write (the installer, however reports they have been installed successfully), and the fourth update fails after ten seconds or so. When I try to reinstall the first three modules (with the Re-programming radio button checked), the write operation still only takes a few seconds, and a progress bar isn't displayed at all, even though the installer reports that the installation was a success. After powering on, the unit is stuck in an endless "Loading..." loop. Sadly, the alternative "denist" update method ( emotivalounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=preamps&thread=30699&page=3#527149) doesn't seem to work either. I've already contacted tech support, and am hoping Emotiva will be able to resolve this soon. And with any luck, the fix won't involve sending the unit back to the States for a reflash, since I live on the old continent. FWIW, I tried the upgrade on 32-bit XP as well as 64-bit Win 7, which should both be supported.

I can tell you what's probably happening..... When you see it "skip" like that, the module isn't really being loaded at all. Sometimes, if a module install fails (or if you exit the installer between steps using the "close x" instead of the QUIT button), a copy of the updater application gets "stuck" in Windows memory. If this happens, the next time you load the installer it loads a second copy - which won't work right. The solution is to close the updater application, then use Windows Task Manager to look for a copy that's "still running" as a process. Close this extra copy, and it should work fine the next time. If you're not comfortable with Task Manager, rebooting the computer will do the deed even more certainly - but it takes longer Just wanted to chime in and report that I'm experiencing exactly the same symptoms as as mjrtoo. Will you all be publishing the enhancements associated with this release? I have not done the update and will probably not have that time till about June 1st but would like to know what is in the new pie!

Thanks for the suggestion, but these instructions don't work for me. As mjrtoo already reported above, the installer doesn't start loading the fourth firmware module, but the first followed by the others in order.

Keith, first of all, thanks for replying so soon, considering it's the weekend and all. However, I'm afraid there isn't another copy of the installer ( TW_AVR_upgrade.exe) running when the update fails. I've verified this from Task Manager and even tried rebooting for good measure. Furthermore, I've always quit the installer using the Quit button between modules per the official instructions, since I'm really not a glutton for punishment. I have seen the installer occasionally "double load" after a fail, even if you exit it correctly, which is why I suggested the possibility. What I would suggest is to try loading the firmware using the Jumpstart method (Denist's method), but ONLY check the fourth module. If the fourth module loads successfully that way, then go back and load the other three, one at a time. If that doesn't work either, then make sure you've tried at least two USB cables, if you haven't already (it could be a funky cable). If none of THAT helps.... you could check out the new thread and see if I posted anything there that I forgot to mention to you here (it's complicated maintaining multiple conversations). Beyond THAT, if it still won't go, please e-mail me on Monday (keith@emotiva.com) - and be sure to tell me who you are (It's possible, but unlikely, that you have a hardware problem that only surfaced with the new firmware.)
