Not sure how the Feb 14th date was determined. Could be based off in-house sales or financial months or quarters. Maybe it had something to do with Valentine's Day. Maybe its a start or sunset date for a legal contract preventing sales until that date. We may never know. We only know it is the date many of us have been counting down to for a long time. Maybe Dan just likes Valentines Day?

Big Dan posted that the XMC-1 will ship on Feb 14, 2014. He also verbally announced that date during Emofest 2013. Got a link to that post? Here is video of him stating it @ Emofest 2013:

The Duke Nukem Forever of AV-processors... So I guess it will ship when it´s done. And I am not really sure that this will be the Feb 14th - setting up a new manufacturing plant and getting quality output from it isn´t that easy.

And I am not really sure that this will be the Feb 14th - setting up a new manufacturing plant and getting quality output from it isn´t that easy. The longest period of setting up "quality output" from an electronics plant is the design time. The equipment to build and solder the boards are "off the shelf"; you populate and program them, verify the end product with SPC. We do this second step with every model change (and new model) in about a week at our (established) plant in Lewisburg, TN. Getting a warm body to put the boards in the box and drive a few screws takes as long as it takes to train your workers. Primates take longer to train than good workers and you get what you pay for. My company does this while we're setting up the process so there's no additional training time. Being that these boards have been built and beta tested in XMC-1's in mid-year 2013 I would say that the design time has been mostly completed. And the boards are being built in California at an established electronics plant means that they won't have to deal with actually setting up new equipment (stock it, plug in the program, verify, and go). So, to get "quality output" from the assembly facility in Franklin, TN takes as long as it takes to train workers to put the boards in the box and drive some screws (not quite that easy, but not rocket science either).

I'm sure there are quite a few people on the pre-order/reserve list(s) out there. I hope no one is expecting that there will be enough units available on Feb 14th to fulfill everybody's order. I am only bringing it up because we don't want people raising hell because they didn't get one on the 14th. This happens with game consoles, mobile phones and any number of other products from much larger companies - manufacturers sell out of stock when launching new products. They said they will make enough and that is good for me. I have the funds ready if there is one available for me on 2/14 but I won't scream bloody murder if I have to wait a few more weeks if they run out of stock before they get to me.

I know what your saying, for me I will be just as happy that the XMC-1 is being delivered to others and I get to read their reports. I signed on the second pre-order list within the first two hours of it appearing on the Emotiva website so I'm hoping I'm not too far back in the line. Cheers, Dave.

I put my name on the list as well. I am most curious about the Dirac implementation as that is the main draw for me. As I have a 2 channel system I will be getting a lot of features I won't use. Hopefully it will work as well for two full range speakers as a 7.1 setup. Wonder how many people are in the queue?

The first Pre Order List for the XMC-1 was started nearly 6 years ago. That list was open for a long time and had hundreds of people who signed up. That first list was closed and remained closed. The second list was started a couple of years ago, but I have no idea how many people signed up. It will be very difficult to even guess how many of those people who signed up are still interested in purchasing an XMC-1 once it starts shipping. If a large percentage of those on the first list opt to make a purchase it could be a fairly long wait for those who signed up on the second list. About a year ago, Emotiva e-mailed asking if I was still interested in purchasing a unit once they ship. Thus, Emotiva probably has a pretty good feel of those still interested, at least for those of us who signed up on the first list. If Emotiva follows form on previous Pre Order Lists, some one from Emotiva will call you once they start shipping and ask if you are still wanting to purchase. If you answer yes, they should be able to give you a fairly accurate guestimate before they are able to ship your unit to you. In the past, when I was called on an other product that I had signed up for it took about two weeks before they called me back for my credit card info. I hope you do not have to wait too long for them to contact you if you signed up on the second list. Don't hold your breath...

I didn't sign up until the preorder went live on the website. I fully understand I will likely be waiting a while and I am okay with that. I just hope other people are as well. We don't want claims of broken promises if every single person in the world can't have one right away when 2/14 rolls around.

I signed up less than a year ago. I don't have the $$$ yet anyway so I won't be sweating it. Really looking forward to reading the reviews though!

Speaking of reviews...Sorry if I missed this around the forum, how soon can we expect pro reviewers to get their hands on the XMC-1? Is there a pretty good lag time between release and units sent to reviewers for evaluation? Ive never made a blind purchase without reviews and its served me very well thus far.

I take some pro reviews with a grain of salt as they seem like paid advertisements. It can be hard to determine which reviews are not influence by commercial gain. Dave.

+1 to topend's comment...your best reviews will be right here. There will be people who bought it and love it, people who are disappointed, and everything in-between. And, most of us here have a vested financial interest in the company...just the few staff members who post here fit that bill. So, you will get good opinions here.
