I found Emotiva because of a XMC-1 product page... and that was in 2011. At that point it was 'coming soon', cost only $1200, had HDMI 2.0, In 2011, the HDMI 2.0 spec was 2 years from being 'released' and longer from being 'finalized'. If I announced that I was going to release a car that met all Mars highway travel regulations, would you sign up on the list because of that? I view Tesla Motors as a similar situation. They had a lofty goal. They announced a product that a LOT of people wanted, people were excited about it. They had many delays getting it to market. When it was finally available for those who had been on the waiting list, it was a smash hit. Tesla owners are ecstatic about their vehicles. Tesla has had a hard time fulfilling demand, but does the best they can, all while putting a great car out there - Consumer Reports' highest rated vehicle ever. What's the main difference? Oh yeah, Tesla owners put serious cash down years ago to be on the waiting list. Emotiva's waiting list is a bunch of people who are holding cards for huge discounts on the product. Keep in mind that they built a new factory for this. That requires personnel. Perhaps they haven't found as many employees as they hoped to build these things by hand, causing a slower production cycle. Would you rather they hired people who weren't qualified to build the units so you can get yours sooner, only to have screws falling out? Emotiva is d@^#ed if they do, and d@^#ed if they don't with some of you people. If they shipped yours overnight today with a NET 30 invoice, you'd still find something to complain about. "The foam was discolored. There wasn't enough silica gel packets in the bottom. The shipping label on my box was crooked and it covered some of the logo." They'll ship them when they're ready. Would you want them to ship them before? Would you rather they take the time out of getting product ready to ship to produce a new podcast? The way you pick apart every syllable that comes out of that building, it would take hours of pre-production, carefully crafting the message to give you the least amount of content to obsess over. Maybe they should take a couple weeks off from producing XMC-1's to produce a couple new videos and a podcast. Maybe they should take a calligraphy class so they can write each manual by hand in a leather-bound notebook, signed and numbered. Of course, the appendix to the manual should probably be a list of all the customers and the shipping dates and serial numbers to verify when they were shipped and to whom, and we can only hope and pray that the list matches up with that podcast from 2008. You guys need to stop acting like they took your money years ago and have been sitting on a beach in Mexico sipping cervezas and not working on this thing. It'll ship when it's ready.

Try reading them everyday in one form or another for four plus years and in my opinion they are useless. What is the point of constantly posting about how Emotiva does not communicate? Dan handles his company they way he thinks it should be handled. Trying to bait him to communicate is an utter waste of time. I am quite sure that he wants it released more than anyone else. I'm not trying to bait anyone. All I'm saying is I think communicating is better then being silent. Dan can do as he see's fit. That's always understood. We just have a difference of opinion that's all. It has been a few years for me as well. I do understand the good points you made. Sometimes being silent is the best (and intended) form of communication, though.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this thread won't make it through today before it gets locked/closed.

Can we just let these people vent? There is no problem with people venting. We all vent on here. Issues arise when people start demanding things of Emotiva/Dan that they are NOT going to get on the timeline they are demanding. That isn't venting, it's making demands. I hope that makes sense. BTW, Emotiva is not building a $320 million state-of-the-art jet. They are building AV equipment. Let's keep this in perspective. Consumers now expect 0 out of box failures, 100% of implemented features to work, and at least six months of no warranty claims. This is not impossible, and many companies do it. I hope Emotiva can too make these claims when the XMC-1 is released. This I agree with. We all just want the XMC-1 to work flawlessly and have it be a success for Emotiva. Having said that, I wonder why some forum members demand that it gets released before it operates at a flawless level? I seriously doubt that that Emotiva have had 1000's of flawless XMC-1s sitting in warehouses and not releasing them while lauging about making people wait. Does that sound like a realistic scenario to anyone?

What's the biggest page count an XMC-1 thread has got to before trolls and flamers eventually get it shut down?

Note sure what the highest count is, but the lowest is <2 full pages. 23 posts, I believe.

I try not to post in these waste of time threads about the XMC-1 but... I can't help myself. To all of the people who have been whining and complaining and also speculating about just how many XMC-1's have been shipped to date - SO WHAT??? What difference does it make? Do you really lose that much sleep over it every night and endlessly mumble under your breath or even shout out in public places just how frustrated you are because no one from Emo has had the decency to tell you something that ain't none of your business in the first place? And then you bring up examples about how YOUR business worked or how this business or that business worked and how Emo should listen to your words of wisdom. It is what it is. Dan has built a successful company. You don't really know what is going on behind the walls of Emotiva's offices and you have no right to know. If you want to know so very very badly then why don't you buy the company from Dan and then you can run it just the way you want? You seem to think you know everything so you should have known how to have made enough money by now that you could just write a check and take Emotive off of Dan's hands and then go in and give out all the information to your heart's desire to those of us on the forum. The only thing you can know with certainty is that YOU don't have an XMC-1 and that YOU don't know just who has one and who doesn't. Why that is such a big deal is beyond me. If you don't like it then buy something else. Good grief.. This is the best post on this topic I've seen in a while. Good grief is right. Spot on. When I was a teenager in the 1980's people used to have a quick way to say it, probably politically incorrect now, but we used to say "GET A LIFE PEOPLE!!!" For some reason I think it fits well here. I just watched Dallas Buyers Club the other night. This is a piece of AV equipment, not a life saving drug. Geesh. How about a little perspective.
