Video passthrough when the unit is turned off? Anyone try the unit with a 4K display? Video standby when enabled, also allows the user to change inputs as well, so without turning on the XMC-1 you can change from your cable box to your blu-ray player.

The questions are coming in quickly, so some of these may have been asked already, but...
Now that you've had the XMC-1 in your rooms with your equipment, how does it sound compared to the other Emotiva pre/pros you have (or have had) or other brands of pre/pros you have? Both HT and 2-channel. In 2-channel - has anyone compared to the XSP-1 or USP-1 to the XMC-1 - is a pre-amp still necessary to get the best 2-channel sound or is the XMC-1 really "hot-rodded" & superior (or at least equal) for 2-channel?
How well does the manual PEQ work? Have you been able to dial in the sound more effectively than with the UMC models (either manually or with Emo-Q)?
Tell us more about how subwoofer/bass management works - the good, the bad, the ugly?
Streaming/networking capabilities?
What features have you found most valuable/better than previous pre/pros you've used?
How are the firmware updates - easy to complete? Any problems/issues?

Video passthrough when the unit is turned off? Anyone try the unit with a 4K display? How does the online menu scale? (or does it at all and is therefore tiny on a 4K display) Yes, there is select-able input video pass through when the unit is off so you can switch between sources by simply hitting the input button on the remote. The default video can also be set for when the unit is powered on.

I hope to have more on the sound quality soon. My HTPC is giving me some issues and haven't been able to do a really fair A/B comparison. I will tell you that I did listen to some vinyl the other day with an outboard phono then through the XMC-1. It sounded quite nice and I wondered why I hadn't listened to vinyl more on this system. I also found that my subs integrated better via the XMC-1 than when I was using the MMC-1 and the Behringer Feedback Destroyer.

For 5.1 users are the other pair of surrounds reconfigurable? (heights, wides) Honestly didn't even think to check this as I don't have other zones, etc... I will add it to the list and get you an answer.

Anyone try the unit with a 4K display? How does the online menu scale? (or does it at all and is therefore tiny on a 4K display) The XMC-1 works great with existing 4K model TVs. The menu scales just fine. The XMC-1 doesn't do any of the scaling so that's on your display (or source), the XMC-1 just passes the video signal on through. Tested on Seiki monitors as well as LG ones -both UltraHD/4K native. No issues.

Video standby when enabled, also allows the user to change inputs as well, so without turning on the XMC-1 you can change from your cable box to your blu-ray player. This is huge IMHO! I love the pass-thru in standby on the UMC-200, but being able to switch input in standby as well...BRAVO!

Xmc crossover question . This hypothetical system consists of main speakers crossed over at 50hz and center crossed over at 180hz and sur channels at 80hz but my sub can play from 100hz and down .Can xmc cross center speaker to main speakers than send mains to sub .This situation seems to exist with some magnepan systems.I know that some pre/pros have a "enhanced bass" mode where all channels set to small will route to mains if mains are set to large but this seems to produce a less than satisfying result because both mains and sub BOTH play the same crossed over signal from the channels set to small.

Can you program "EQ" settings (for example... Preset 1/Preset 2/Preset 3/Dirac/Off) on a "per input" basis like you could with the UMC-1... I really liked that capability and miss it with the UMC-200.

With its network capabilities, can you access the XMC in any way over the network?
Example: Is there a HTTP interface?

To add on to this both sub outs independently configurable, correct? Different xo and 11 bands of PEQ each?

I really liked that capability and miss it with the UMC-200. Each of the inputs can choose from 1 of 3 presets. Preset 1/2 or Dirac. Within each input you can then adjust what mode it uses based upon the preset. I actually had a conversation with Lonnie about this earlier today. There is lots of flexibility in how you set up each input. If you have a specific example, I can try and give you the approach that needs to be taken. Unfortunately there isn't an general answer.

On the spec sheet it says "audio file player (supports FLAC/ AAC/ WAV/MP3)." What methods of input, and which inputs, does this apply to (HDMI, USB . . . .) and does it support multichannel audio files?
Again, with respect to the spec sheet it says "USB-type B "USB DAC" input for PCM digital audio up to 24/192" does this include multichannel PCM?
Thanks, in advance, for taking the time to answer our questions.

Have any of you beta guys attempted control via IP, hopefully with iRule? Will the IP control specification be available soon? How about EMO provided iRule device profiles?
Thanks

I'd like to get 100% confirmation on the inputs and how selectable they are. #1. How many selectable inputs are there? Are inputs linked or totally separate? For example, there are 3 RCA and 3 toslink digital inputs, but they appear to be arranged as if they are linked, as in, use one or the other. So are there 3 selectable inputs, or are all 6 totally independent? Same example could be used on the analog input #1. Is it 1 selectable input and you use the RCA or the XLR, or can both be totally independently selectable? For example, could you hook up an ERC-3 via the XLR for CD's, and then hook up an Oppo to the RCAs for SACD and DVD-A? Bottom line, of the 22 (going off of memory here) total physical inputs, how many are independently selectable, 22 or less, like 18? #2. The front panel has 8 direct access input buttons. The remote has 7. How do you access the rest of the inputs? #3. And one other I don't think I've asked before, are they fully nameable? Using the ERC-3 / Oppo example above, can the 2 inputs be named something like Emotiva CD Player and Oppo SACD/DVD-A as seen on the front panel screen? If so, and this is really trivial of me but I'm asking just for the hell of it, how many characters long can the name be? Thank you! Cheers --- Bonzo
