So went down to the border today and grabbed the XMC-1 waiting there for me, got back to my buddys and got the XMC-1 unpacked and set it on top of the UMC-200 he is taking out of the system and replacing with the XMC-1. removed all the cables from the UMC-200 and transferred to the XMC-1 except for the RCA cables to the amps as he changed to all Emotiva XLR's, everything was done with all power off and rear power switches off of course. The problem is there is no video showing up on the TV from the XMC-1, I tried both HDMI 1 and 2 out from the XMC but had to leave, I just sent him a message and he was saying he could get sound from his ERC-3 on the balanced input of the XMC but when adjusting volume he is getting crackling and static. Anyone else experience this, I'm thinking maybe damage from shipping(Though box is great shape) or just the luck of a defective unit ? I will be going back over there to do some trouble shooting in a while when the wife gets home from work, just seems strange as I was sure they were tested after the build was complete, just bad luck maybe Chad

If you're stupid like I was, I had the input & output jacks reversed. Might be worth checking...
If it's hooked up right, then it might be a setup issue (I have no idea how picky the unit is to set up).
If neither of the above apply, then I'd suspect a defect (sigh...).
Best of luck - Boom

Took a photo before I left, minimal stuff connected and the Black HDMI connected to HDMI 1 out is in fact going to the TV. Crappy if it is in fact defective, I don't think he has slept the past week due to excitement on putting the XMC-1 into his system hahaha

Did you make a start on the setup in the menu? Maybe it's just a setting.
Dave.

Did you change the amp to balanced using the switch on the back?
Dave.

Yeah sound is working from erc-3 using both balanced input and digital coax but not getting sound from any of the hdmi inputs on the XMC and no video from the xmc to the tv, maybe a faulty hdmi board? Will need to make a phone call on monday i guess :-(

Yes I have a green light flashing away on the inside at the back straight back from the volume control
Have you tried a factory reset ? Swapping cables around ? Are the cables directional ?

I'm sure they will take care of me as they have in the past, just strange that the board has a green LED and from what i can see there are no loose cables on the HDMI board.

So I tried and tried to figure it out and just nothing for HDMI works, the Balanced input from the ERC-3 sounds fantastic I might add but no go for HDMI use, real bummer, man my buddy is gonna have a sweet system adding this XMC-1 to his two XPA-1L's, ERC-3 and XPA-5 G2, lucky guy

Try another tv. I wonder if it is possibly a HDCP problem. The XMC-1 is HDMI 2.0 whereas the UMC-200 is HDMI 1.4a. Downward compatibility should be in play here, but who knows with the flaky HDMI/HDCP crap forced on us! A Dr. HDMI from HD Fury may be the answer.

Isn't the XMC-1 HDMI 1.4b?
Dave.

You are right - it's 1.4b. The problem still could be HDCP, however.

Just a side note...
Shouldn't a single subwoofer be connected to the left sub out RCA and not the right? I thought I read that in the manual.

Sure sounds like the XMC-1 then. It's time to call Emo and see what they will do for you (hopefully send you another new unit immediately)!
