I had a Genesis IM-8300 - and that speaker hated toe-in. Most of the pictures of the Genesis 1 don't show any toe-in. The Genesis circular ribbon tweeter has a very, very wide dispersion, and I think that's why it didn't like toe-in. With my Quad 57 ESL (the "old" Quad), the centre of the tweeter panel had to be aimed directly at my ears - and that speaker had very little dispersion in the high frequencies.
I've toed in all my other speakers, to varying degrees. I didn't like having the speakers toed in so that they "cross" in front of my face. I think a lot depends on the tweeter design, and the room.
And Audio Physic, the German speaker manufacturer, says that you don't have to have the same toe in for both speakers! You face one speaker directly forward, without toe in. Then you toe in the other speaker until.... the soundstage suddenly pops into view. A sales rep demo'd this and it did work... but it looks really strange and I haven't been able to bring myself to try this in my room.

My speakers are toed in according to Dr. Hsu's recommendations. He says point them so the sound crosses slightly in front of the listener. I've tried them at various angles and find that Dr. Hsu's recommendation works the best in terms of having a balanced sound and a very nice soundstage. Interesting....mine cross about 1 foot behind my head, per Revel's instructions. Apparently the only "recommendation" is for people to experiment and settle on what sounds best to them. Agreed. Most recommendations are to toe them so the sound crosses behind the head but I guess Dr. Hsu wanted you to be crosseyed or crosseared. All I know is it works. The soundstage is wider when doing it that way but the instruments and voices are focused.

Mine are very similar to geebo's. They seem to sound better not pointed directly at the sweet spot. Same here. Forgot to mention that I also tilt them back using higher spikes in front than in back. Probably about 1/2" or so higher in front, maybe 5/8".

Hempster You mean CDO, it's like OCD but the letters are in the correct order Strictly it's O.C.D. and there's no "p" in my name! Also there should be a period after your comment. Other than that I'm not analyzing it much!

Bi-poles spiked higher in the front and toed in slightly -- sides same and rear bipoles bounced off the corners for HT.

As with everything audio I have looked into, the answer seems to be: "it depends". Throw on some unicorn horn dust, and I think I will have it perfect in about 6 hours.

Absolutely! However my toe-in is nothing dramatic and my 803's are not directly pointing to the center seating listening position. In truth they are aimed more to the side of the listeners' ears, (or behind)this way I achieve a pseudo 3dimensional sound. Also my 803's are tilted using the spikes that were supplied. This setup gives the illusion of of an active center channel.

My Vandersteen speakers don't seem to benefit from toe-in but the ELAC B6 pair sound better with a bit of toe.
