Mine too. Shame I wasn't told about the simple test when I rang Emotiva with the problem. All they said was that ARC can be flakey and I could send it in and they'd check it by plugging it in to their TV. The only downside to using Toslink is having to turn the volume on the TV down. That only applies if you use the TV standalone sometimes and with the XMC-1 at other times. ARC DOSEN'T WORK WITH XMC-1 AT ALL! AT LEAST WITH A SONY ! And it appears that they don't even care ! Had the sony tested by a tech. And it works fine on the Sony. Does your XMC-1 pass the "loopback" test as mentioned above..? If not, service will need to be required. HDMI ARC stopped working for me after the v3 HDMI board release, but it also failed the loopback test. After Emotiva serviced my XMC-1, HDMI ARC works flawlessly. But then again, I have an LG, not a Sony.

For what it's worth, the only time I've ever gotten ARC to work is from a Samsung TV and a Samsung sound bar. And even then it wasn't easy to set up. I'm very happy using Toslink when I need to get audio from my TV (native apps) to my XMC-1. Works 100% of the time and provides the same audio signal as ARC would have. Not quite Wilbur... Toslink cannot handle Dolby Digital Plus (EAC3) which is the preferred choice of most content providers these days. HDMI ARC can handle this just fine. HDMI ARC could also "theoretically" support MAT formatted Atmos over common mode ARC, but most TVs don't support common mode ARC. However, eARC guarantees support for all hi-resolution audio formats, including Atmos, and doesn't require CEC in order to use it. It does, however, require eARC support on both ends (TV and AVP/AVR). Most people like to dis ARC because it can be finicky, but when you can get it to work without other CEC induced problems, it does have its benefits...

I did confirm that my XMC-1 failed the loopback test, and was ready to send my unit in.
My plan was to wait as long as possible till I neared the end of my warranty, so I would only send the unit in one time for the Video Board and Atmos upgrade.
With the announcement, now I'll just trade the unit in for the XMC-2, and continue to use toslink in the interim.

Well ;that's let the cat out the bag ; hopefully they will accept a XMC1 with a crook chip j/k Ime sure the warranty covers it though
