I'd guess quite a few customers received notification emails that aren't posters on here. The Emotiva email is how I found out about the pre sale, before I even looked on here. Cheers Gary If you are referring to the pre-sale, then you are referring to units that have not shipped yet. I'm talking about the Nov 15th release that did not include a presale. RMC sales went live shortly after midnight on the 15th. If you are speaking about the Nov 15th release, when you both woke up the morning of Nov 15th and found out the RMC was for sale via email, how long after your alarm until the RMC's first batch was sold out? If I remember correctly the RMC was sold out around 8am Eastern. I'm not saying people didn't find out it was for sale via email, what I am suggesting is many who found out via email found the RMC sold out by the time they logged into the Emotiva website. Several even posted about their disappointment they missed the initial release. I believe cwt also made a great point about actual beta testers. When the XMC was released there were several beta testers who got units prior to the item going on sale who began posting few first impressions before anyone else got their XMC installed. I didn't see any of those types of comments this time around. Someone even asked for the beta testers to post some details, but the forum remained silent. First impressions came from a paying customer. Maybe the beta testers couldn't say anything as part of the NDA for being a beta tester, or maybe there were no real beta testers this time around outside of those who purchased on Nov 15th. Who knows and it doesn't really matter since what is done is done. For as great as the Emotiva tech support is, their general communication that sets expectations leaves a lot to be desired. I look forward to hearing back today about the 30 day return policy and will then decide what, if anything, I need to do to get a working home theater that I can enjoy over the Christmas holiday.

I'm from Asia, and they told me RMC-1 is available in January for international order.
If that batch have the same problem as mention in here, there is no way i will buy it.

UPDATE - THREAD STARTED HERE: RMC Issues, firmware releases and updatesI am considering starting a new thread to track all the known issues for the RMC, firmware updates and resolutions or workarounds. Here is the format I was thinking of making for the first post which would be updated as new issues are found or firmware updates are pushed out. I would ask that ONLY issues not already reported or solutions to issues would be posted in that thread. This owners thread makes it a bit difficult to track and know all the issues for the RMC. Items in black font are unresolved, green shows a possible workaround and red are resolved. Going forward I would also try to do a better job keeping track of who reports the issue so if a workaround or solution is found they can test. Or so anyone with a question regarding the issue could be sent directly to someone experiencing the issue. Thoughts? Firmware 1.0 – Release date 11/19/2018User Reported issues with this firmware: - Using HDMI input no bass management from any sound MODE except "Surround". Reported by Geronimo
- Using HDMI input and USB DAC, delayed sound at beginning of track. Reported by multiple users
- Using HDMI input and USB DAC, drops signal if there is not a continuous sound streaming. Example: playing youtube videos back to back. Reported by Geronimo
- Using HDMI input and Oppo player – when using balanced input on reference stereo mode there is a hum at the same volume and RMC will lock up. Reported by rhale64
- HDR video “banding” - RESOLVED with firmware 1.1
- 24db sub slope does not survive cold reboot - RESOLVED with firmware 1.1
- Incorrect video status when using internal black screen - RESOLVED with firmware 1.1
- Incorrect mode displayed (Reference Stereo) was shown for dtsHD5.1 when in “Auto”. - RESOLVED with firmware 1.1
- OLED do not always refresh when exiting out of menus. - RESOLVED with firmware 1.1
- DSD playback has pops and clicks. Lonnie communicated to avoid playing DSD files on 11/28/2018.
- Using HDMI input and Oppo 203, media from disc and network files exhibit a chirp at same volume at roughly 8-10 minute intervals. Chirp does not occur if same timestamp is played back, but will occur in another 8-10 minutes. Chirp is RESOLVED with firmware 1.1, possible new audio click introduced
- During cold restart, RMC will freeze and require a full reboot. WORKAROUND - can be avoided by putting your unit in "low power" standby, or turn off the source device feeding the input, or switch the RMC to an input with nothing connected before turning the RMC off. RMC should be fine at next startup.
- HDMI sync issues when switching inputs. RMC tends to have problems locking on to audio signal. Reported by multiple users
Firmware 1.1 – Release date 12/07/2018Additional user reported issues with this firmware: - RMC cycles through audio playback modes when fed a PCM signal. RMC may choose reference stereo mode when fed surround format. Reported by multiple users
- DSP will sometimes lock up and only output a buzzing sound. Reported by multiple users
- Audio Dropouts – Dropouts can range from 5 seconds to a complete loss requiring a full reboot to get audio back. Reported by multiple users
- RMC has a quick audio click at roughly 8-10 minute intervals. Audio click does not occur if same timestamp is played back, but will occur in another 8-10 minutes.

deewan ... I think starting that thread is a great idea. I would, however, suggest working with a moderator and keeping the thread "locked". That would avoid the inevitable derailment of what would be a very useful thread. Also, the "HDR Banding" issue is resolved. You have it noted as such, but not highlighted in red...

Thanks doc1963. I figured I would miss something like that and I've updated my post. I'm always happy to have another set of eyes on my work.

Getting back on topic of Roc operation and performance. I watched many of the same movies I showed the kids last night. Polar Express (disc and played through the Oppo) which induced the first instance of buzzing I had heard out of the RMC was played without a single issue. No buzzing, no audio breaks, click or pops of any sort. Next I threw in Big Hero 6 (file and played through movie streamer) which produced audio dropouts. About 11 minutes into the movie I lost all audio. Switching inputs was the only way to get audio back. I then went back to the Oppo and Home Alone. 18 minutes into that movie I heard a quick audio dropout for a fraction of a second but audio instantly returned. I am at a complete loss as to the cause and the remedy. So the movie night was canceled. I actually canceled next weekends movie night too since I have no idea if the RMC will have a new firmware that fixes these issues by then. No idea what to do, but I will be sending an email asking about the return policy. The quick audio dropouts are tolerable, but how the Roc is acting now it's a joke. All good will I had for Emotiva is gone. They still provide excellent customer service and great value for things like amps, speakers and DACS, but I'm to the end of the line with their processors. Which is really to bad. I want to support them, but I don't want to make my rooms perform suffer only to support a company. If I hear from Emotiva about possible fixes I will stick it out some. If it doesn't like like they have a remedy, let the shopping begin for a new processor. Has Emotiva swapped out your RMC for a new one already? I thought maybe they had, but I can’t quite remember. I think that the RMC will be a great unit, but it may take 6-8 months to get it there. The Emotiva staff is just not big enough to test out these processors with all of the various combinations of equipment out there. They do in a way depend on the first round of buyers to be somewhat beta testers. I do believe that early adopters should be given some sort of extra return period, but that’s a different topic. Extended return period as well as a deep discount...

I’d like to at least see an optional discount for when orders open up on expansions. I’m aware we are beta testers and not being able to apply the 40% off with expansions and having a unpolished product should at least result in some early adopter incentive with all these issues. Hopefully most will be resolved when mine comes in though.

Damn.... I'm considering calling in to delay my unit's shipping until they have a stable FW release. I don't physically have time to be a test dummy for this unit.

I was debating the same thing. I don’t want to replace tweeters or worry about the hard resets. It does sound like the loud chirping has been dealt with though but does the audio click pose a threat? I’m using a Oppo 203.

I don’t want to replace tweeters or worry about the hard resets. This will clearly send a message if that is the intent. But I want to hear of those with no issues and what their current setup is like. That will be just as valuable of a data set as those 1/2 dozen folks with issues posting here.

I wanna help out but if it’s all risk and no reward it makes me want to have them hold on to it till they fix the issues. I’m not going to want to watch new movies with audio drop outs. In no way am I saying I can possibly have my needs met with another pre pro without breaking the bank. It will be the RMC in my room.

I was attracted by the $400 future purchase credit that expires this year which I intend to use towards an expansion module. So one way to look at it is getting $400 to be a beta tester.

Thanks deewan for putting the list together. Each time I come to this thread I see more described of what I'm experiencing with my unit. I have the same issues as described, but with the addition of noise coming from the unit itself. Can't embed, but have a video link: RMC-1I contacted Emotiva for clarity on the return window. The reply was 30 days from the date of receipt of the unit. No extended window due to missing Dirac, firmware, etc.

The credit expires in 6 months. I would give long odds they have any expansion modules available within that time period, just based on history. Maybe 1.

I have bass management now, just not under Mode "STEREO" after the last firmware update.
Also, multi channel PCM sources are not stable. It keeps switching the number of speakers (2.0, the. 0.0, then 5.1, then 7.1, in succession over, and over), and, or cutting off the sound completely.

So, I was using REW and a cross-spectrum calibrated UMIK-1. Does anyone know if the "DUAL MONO" and "MONO" subs setting supposed to have two different readings? I'm using two identical subwoofers, and they are connected to "Left/Right Sub" Toggling the setting between MONO and Dual Mono give me different results, but shouldn't they be the same?

Perhaps along with the known issues I should publish details of folks who willingly give information about their system so we can find out if certain equipment works better or worse with the RMC. Sounds like several of us have the Oppo 203 or 205 and have issues (just as an example).

No extended window due to missing Dirac, firmware, etc. I just got off the phone with Emotiva as well. I voiced my concerns about the 30 day return window and the issues causing the RMC to not function properly. I was asked if I had been in contact with anyone at Emotiva about the issues. I mentioned I had emailed Damon a few times and I had already received one replacement unit. I was unable to get an answer because Big Dan was on a different phone call. I was told I would get an answer today or tomorrow.
