Glad it worked for you. The few DTS-HD MA 5.1 movies that have given me this problem we’re fixed with this work around. Weird thing is that most DTS movies don’t give me a problem. The common factor is you are only decoding the "carrier" dts hd 5.1/7.1 bitstream and ignoring the neural metadata for the ceilings where the problems locking on reside I would imagine there are many UHD pana's in service ; hopefully they can also switch tracks on the fly as a workaround No direct audio button on my UB900 but maybe the options pop up can manage it..? The metadata is only present on DTS:X tracks which the RMC-1 picks up perfectly fine. The issue has been on the "older" DTS-HD tracks which are only 5.1 to 7.1, thus no metadata. Also while watching Dark Knight Rises in Neutral:X last night I also found the low end to be lacking somewhat. It was later at night so I did not put the volume really loud, but even at -20dB or so I felt like the Atmos tracks had more low end which should not be the case.

No audio today, but with OPPO203 Main Video/Audio Out connected to Input1 of RMC-1. This is the seventh time, first with OPPO203 Main Video/Audio connected to RMC-1 (i.e. not in "audio only" mode). Movie: 4K Harry Potter #5 (Order of the Pheonix), dts HDMA/DTS:X, 2160p/24 12bits YCbCr 444 HDR. Weird because the audio played during the menu selection, but did not play during the movie. Different sound tracks ... menu sound track: PCM2.0/DD_Surround. So far, all "no audio" issues upon power up were DTS related movies (7 total). EDIT: Just had 2 more DTS related "no audio" issues. So I’ve got my first bug with the RMC. Trying to watch 4K Dark Knight Rises DTS-HD sound track and I get no sound. Audio in shows PCM 0.0. I also tried Creed 2 in DTS-HD and the same thing, PCM 0.0 and no sound. I’ve fully powered off the RMC-1 with no success. The source is my Panasonic 820 4K Player. I’ll try a DTS-X movie and report back. 3 other owners have identified this bug. I've had this happen 6 times using audio only with DTS ... on power up. The last time it happened ... did not post about it ... but it was a little different than the other 5 times ... because turning off/on power to OPPO203 use to fix the audio, but this time it did not as explained below: 1. No sound on power up using audio only from OPPO203 to RMC-1. 2. DTS 4k movie. 3. RMC-1 readout: PCM2.0 4. Turn off/on power to OPPO203 ... this usually fixes it ... no audio this time. 5. RMC-1 came back with PCM0.0 ... thought "boy, I've seen everything now" lol. 6. Turn off/on power to OPPO203 ... no audio ... 7. Turn off/on power to RMC-1 ... audio works. I've tested for "no audio" for the last 3 wks in "audio only" mode and this issue has not surfaced. No longer using "audio only" because I need the OSD to configure 9.1.6. So 4 owners have now posted this issue, Lonnie said he would look into it couple of weeks ago ... lonnie : any update? Just reposting some old posts about "No Audio" Seen "No Audio" upon power up many times, posted 7 times so far. Shifting sound tracks seem to work (eng > spainish > eng). Happened with DTS tracks.Yesterday, "no audio" happened when sound format was PCM0.0. What is PCM 0.0? Should of been DD2.0 Also, one time got music to play during menu (Dolby), but when DTS sound format was supposed to play, "No Audio".Work arounds: Switch sound formats back and forth, switch HDMI inputs back and forth, POR, hard reset. Asked for a cmd to do a hard reset several times in past posts.

Aah ; I thought it was a metadata thing ; not a straight lossless track About tracks lacking low end I would try something simpler than BEQ by picking a low pass frequency that is a lowest common denominator among tracks [ say 20hz or so] and set a PEQ preset for it ;)Not a flat frequency response but easily implemented ?

Heads up here.
During our testing we found an issue using the Apple 4K TV, Netflix playing an Atmos movie. The issue is the sound field changing states and speaker assignments moving around. After doing some internal test and research we found this to be a common factor for all brands of AVR/AVPs. From our testing we can play Netflix on a Roku and get proper ATMOS, but if you play the same thing on ATV 4K its messed up. Some of the reports on the web state this has been brought to the attention of Apple. I feel confident that Apple will resolve this.
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up in case you run into it.

Better yet fix all the problems that cause constant needs for power cycles! I’ve found VOS to be unusable with constant HDMI issues. Low power standby take ~93 seconds to fully boot which is way too long for any kind of automation/macros. I agree that a software full reboot from menu should be added, but please fix all the sh** causing the needs for reboots! Consumer electronics shouldn’t require multiple power cycles just to be used normally, it shouldn’t be a roll of the dice to see if the damn thing will work correctly! +10.....Pretty much can't watch a DTS movie without having to cold reboot the unit or try and find a title in DTS:X to get it to lock on. Used to be sporadic but has since become more frequent; as if the unit is getting worse with time?! The HDMI board on this is garbage and they know it. The chipset on it has been nothing but problematic since its' inception on the XMC-1 and instead of a re-design and new manufacturer, they just stuck it into the RMC-1. Now they are wanting to work on a 2.1 board version. Hopefully they accept what people are telling them about the video board and find a new manufacturer. Lyngdorf had similar issues with their 2.0b board and rejected everything for nearly 2 years until they finally got a stable rock solid component to put into production.
As for lower power startup time, all automation would have to do is choose the input as all the other variables are pre-selected at boot. A Harmony remote handles that quite nicely and is easy for the family to use.
I have no problem with DTS, neither 5.1/7.1 MA or DTS:X material,, What’s the problem your having? Everything is pretty much solid when watching movies from bluray on my setup. I have a Oppo 103, Pioneer LX-800, AppleTV 4k, a TV box connected to RMC. I have a Sony 4k TV and a Panasonic 1080p projector. I used to have ALOT of hdmi resyncs.. These, I found out, were caused by the TV box which I then reconfigured and almost all my problems has gone away. You probably have one or two devices connected through hdmi that causes havoc with RMC.. Have you tried to remove all hdmi devices and reconnect them one by one to find out which is causing the problem?

While I’ve had a few DTS-HD MA 5.1 tracks with the “No Audio” issue, I’ve simply changed the audio to another track and then back and I’m back in business. Yes it’s a workaround, and yes it needs to be fixed, I’m confident it will be addressed in the next firmware. At this point for me, this is the only bug I’ve run into, but I’m also only on 7.1 as well. So any immersive channel problems there might be, I’m not affected at this point. I can’t make that work on any DTS-HD movie though. I have not figured out any way to watch say The Dark Knight 4K disc for instance. I have the whole trilogy in 4k.. None of the movies are any problem watching in DTS.. Again, some hdmi device in the chain must be making havoc to RMC..

*Sigh*
The big brown truck dropped off my new RMC-1L today. I was as giddy as a little school boy...opened the box and set the unit on top of my soon to be replaced Marantz AV8802a, unplugged and re-plugged into the RMC-1L...then I had to go pick up dinner...didn't even turn it on.
Speed dated my dinner, powered up the RMC, ran into my theater...BAM...I got picture (HTPC)...sweet. Set out to start doing the set-up. Ran through distance, size..then got to Levels...clicked over to low...no sound...moved up to med...no sound...ok, made sure my amps were on..yup...all on...well let me shut it off and turn it back on..works for computers right? I used the remote, shut it down...waited...power button pushed...waited...waited...then
err: Init AXMC1...
Hard restart power off from the back switch...back on...waited...err: Init AXMC1... WTF!!!! Brand new...and of course it's too late to call tonight...am I doing something wrong? Not starting out good Emotiva...That Marantz 8805 sure is looking good...oh but the RMC sounds so much better....REALLY because I wouldn't know!

Try disconnecting every cable (including power) for a few minutes to drain all the capacitors (can also flip the power switch, press the main button, etc.), and then reconnect only the power and see if it turns on without error. AXMC1 seems to be the main connection board from what I can tell with a quick search.

For those that have a library, it is problematic as they don’t store multiple language formats on what they rip. Haven’t seen this problem with any of the other processors that we have installed.

Yes best to unplug everything and see if you can get past the error message and boot screen. HTPC is not always the most stable with the RMC1, but you were initially having issues with the test tone generator which was pointing to the amps or interconnects. If you get it started I would flash it again with a new copy of the firmware to see if it resolves the issue. If not, then plug in a different source and see if the audio issue disappears without the HTPC in the chain. At this point if that doesn’t work then just return it and wait a month for the rest of the products to hit the market.

Lonnie Can you link the online reports? I'd like to read up on it. My Google Fu couldn't find anything.... I’ve been seeing reports about this at AVS in the ATV thread, here’s one comment. “ There is a widespread speaker channel mapping issue occurring on your Netflix Apple TV4K app when playing any content with Dolby Atmos audio. The issue results in sound from one channel incorrectly being mapped to another speaker at random sporadic times, resulting in sound "jumping around" in an unnatural way.
This is only occurring on your Apple TV 4K app - all other Netflix apps are unaffected and play Dolby Atmos streams without this bug occurring. I believe the bug may be due to how your stream delivers Dolby Atmos sound in Apple TV's Dolby MAT 2.0 container and is triggered whenever the audio stream bitrate changes (it's as though the stream forgets how many channels are in the sound system).
You can see widespread reports of this at the following links. It is affecting users with different AVRs / systems but the common denominator is the Apple TV 4K Netflix app + Dolby Atmos content: 1. www.reddit.com/r/appletv/com...tflix_atv_app/ 2. www.avsforum.com/forum/39-ne...l#post58679484
Please let me know if you need further information regarding this bug.”

Out of curiosity the ddrc-88a has a $100 bass management add on. Do you know what the difference will be between that and this new top tier Dirac offering? I thought I remember hearing about 3 tiers so I figured the 88bm will be essentially the 2nd tier. Thanks nospam. The 88BM plug-in adds support for multi-way (active) speaker x-overs. My understanding of the new DL premium BM is that the speakers and subs must all be processed in a single device. It is not likely that this is added to the miniDSP DDRCs unless they come out with next-gen versions. The current DDRCs use 4th-gen ADI SHARCs. DL premium BM is still in beta (aka delayed).

Personally I would have started with a nice clean 4K BD in a know player and then progressed up the difficulty scale in regards to sources. Starting with the worst possible candidate is quite some risk taking, hats off to you for being that confident. Cheers Gary

I thought I had read posts which described Emotiva's RMC-1 volume control as a stepped resistor ladder network similar to Benchmark's. I believe this was given as a reason for the RMC-1 being limited to 0.5dB steps in channel and overall volume adjustments. I stumbled onto a slick I received at CES 2017 which reads: * Cirrus CS3318 lossless resistor ladder volume controls for main zone, 0.5dB resolution * Cirrus CS3310 lossless resistor ladder volume controls for secondary zones, 0.5dB resolution I see on the RMC-1 product page, "high-quality analog ladder network volume control". Is this still the Cirrus CS3318 and CS3310 (-96 dB to +22 dB in ¼ dB steps)? While I can see how one can refer to these volume controls as analog or resistor ladders, I do not believe they are comparable to the Benchmark design. www.cirrus.com/products/cs3308-18/BTW: This XMR-1 AVR would have been awesome!

The recent updates have made it more difficult to troubleshoot HDMI audio issues. You need to look at your sound settings and make sure that RMC-1 is selected as the current output device. Sometimes you need to go the classic Sound Control Panel and run Configure (choose 7.1). You can activate test tones here. Sound Settings/Sound Control Panel (under Related Settings)
