LOL - this thread has devolved into whining over XLR connectors.... I bought mine, really - is it that important?
I would rather see discussion actually ABOUT the RMC-1 and issues, workarounds etc..
I still have issues with switching inputs, and am looking for solutions! ROKU is particularly obnoxious unit that I often have to cold boot the RMC together working.
Has anyone tried different HDMI cables and found any one type better than another? That’s about all I can do at this point....
Thanks for any suggestions!

Any news with RMC-1 upmixing? Using Neural:X with Dolby True HD? DD_Sound with DTS MAHD? DTS:X Pro? I've heard only rumors, nothing official other than "considering" from KeithL.

I also have not heard anything, and I really don't see Emotiva doing this (Dolby-DTS and DTS-Dolby) any time soon. I do think they said they most likely will support DTS:X Pro once it is commercial. I'm just hoping they fix the DTS-HD locking issue in FW 1.7 (they say its one of the fixes on the FM)

With no new firmware since august it’s easy to see why the conversation would devolve into talk about XLR->RCA adapters. Not like anything else has changed. 🤷🏻♂️

I always liked the remote control of the XMC1 and RMC1 because I find direct access to different volume settings very convenient against I ask the question with the RMC1 have access to: center, sub, surr. & height and for the "wides" how do we do it?

As a workaround, had to put white tape on key buttons on RMC-1 remote so I can locate them in a darken environment.
Watched 4k Hobbs and Shaw (disc) last night. Music sounded very good.

In FW 1.2, I placed HDfury products on the RMC-1's inputs and outputs and had very few to no DTS issues using OPPO203 disc movies. 1.2 was very bad with DTS 2k and 4k movies. All the RMC-1 saw was 4k coming in and 4k going out. Had a 2k tv and a 4k projector at the time. Used HDfury Linker to down rez 4k to 2k (RMC-1/4kout2 > 4kIn/Linker/2kOut>2kIn/2k_Sony_TV) . 2k TiVO worked with no issues as well (2k to 4k via HDfury Vertex: Tivo/2kout > 2kIn/Vertex/4kout>4kIn/RMC-1).

While we await the imminent release of FW 1.7 (which will solve all the issues), it is worth noting the existence of similar compatibility and syncing problems that have been creeping up on more and more installs. As more of the 16 channel processors are in beta or releasing, more testers are reporting similar problems that have been discussed on this thread. In a nutshell, it would appear that while many new processors are about to hit the scene, in their haste to release product, other companies are experiencing the same lack of beta testing to flesh out the issues that have been reported on this thread. Our advice to new clients remains to hold off on any new purchases until adequate time has passed to arrive at a stable firmware version. Emotiva has a final opportunity here to step away from the pack by being the first to arrive at a stable affordable processor, but version 1.7 has got to be the definitive fix!

Feel free to pm me as to not muddy the RMC thread.

Nothing to really elaborate on publicly other than the problems being reported here are not unique to Emo, as we are seeing them pop up on other projects or beta testers reporting. What will differentiate companies will be how they are able to resolve them and their attention to their customer base in becoming the dominant player in that market.

Ide say Emo are being practical as the options on the remote are available to be tweaked with most codecs but wides aren't available for some dsp's like DSU and the other channels are more likely to be used if you don't have a wide room and set up with more "standard" channels ? Since the remote has the same number of keys as the XMC1;s the back surrounds adjustment were better allocated to the heights than the wides is another way to look at it

However, I like that they have ‘ganged’ the side and back channels together on the current remote, letting you control them together with the ‘surround’ buttons. I assume the heights do the same thing, but I only have two.

I'll be ready to pay if Emotiva develop a new remote control for RMC-1 with sensitive backlight, with 8 HDMI input (remove the tuner key from HDMI), Dirac preset, a volume key for "wides" and I think you other would also have some good ideas for a new remote control. yes I know ... after Dirac, after the modul extension and after DTS: X pro, Imax, eArc and Auro 3D in about 5 years if it goes fast ...

Not having a RMC1 I didn't know they had ganged together the side/back surrounds which is at least logical from the standpoint of back surrounds not being as important as sounds panning from the front due to our ears perception . Yes separate IP code controls for a tablet too would be welcome ; I would think a small % only of users use the brick ; most using a harmony like the XMC1 RC thread once showed Too much emphasis on the bricks handicapping buttons limitations.. Multiple seating rows would seem to point to ganged heights indeed

I have a Harmony Elite and I have a Neeo ... hum! but good for the RMC-1 I always have the brick at hand.
it's a habit of the XMC-1

I would like to discuss the latest firmware 1.7 ... ah it's true it is still not available? Call Emotiva and see if there's an update. On Saturday, Dan, Ray, and Damon said they considered it done/ready and just awaiting Lonnie's sign-off, but Lonnie was out of town for family events. Mark
