(I admit that this is an aside, but is slightly related...) Does the RMC-1 exhibit the same input switch behavior as the XMC-1 where the image appears for 1 second, disappears for 3 seconds and then reappears again? I'm hoping that Emotiva has fixed that annoying feature. I wouldn't want to pay for an XMC-2 only to find that it switches in the same way. I’d be very happy if the XMC-2 switches as fast as my XMC-1 does, with the Samsung panel it’s more than acceptably speedy. Cheers Gary

I am kind of jealous of this offer :-)
I have own a XMC-1 in the past but sold it to go faster to the HDMI 2.0b and 4k route.
But maybe I should have keep it. For sure Emotiva impress me with this offer. For a very low investment one can upgrade there couples years old processor for a brand new one with all the latest tech and start with a new 5 years warranty. For my part, I think it's the first time I ever heard something like that in the industry.
I now have a Anthem 720 receiver that I use as a pre/pro but I have a Emotiva 40% upgrade card and intent to use it for my next pre/pro. Just not sure witch model yet. XMC-2 best value for money but with the RMC-1/RMC-1L maybe the the upgrade monkey will leave me alone ;-) ... Will see...
Also maybe I will be influence by the availability. The RMC-1L and XMC-2 is not out yet, wondering witch one will be out first?

The last podcast announced the XMC-2 would be available ‘the end of July’ and the RMC-1L about a month later, with no other info we’d expect the XMC-2 ‘soon’ and then the 1L.

Well end of July has come and gone and we are all but a week into August. At this rate my Smyth Research A16 will be here first and I’ll just use cans for late night and and let the A16 drive my amps directly for atmos when the time comes...maybe that’s all I need.

I am in the process of trading in my XMC-1 for the RMC-1. Of interest to those contemplating this possibility, the following information is provided. I am sure that this info would also go for those considering the RMC-1L or XMC-2: Following is a listing of the accessories along with their value and the info to be provided before the trade can continue: "The individual value of the accessories is as follows: Microphone: $30 Microphone stand with clip: $10 Microphone digitizer cable: $15 Remote control: $30 Power cord: $10 Radio antennas: $5 Packing Materials: $25 Before we are able to offer the trade, we will need to verify that you are eligible for the upgrade. To begin the process, please reply to let us know you are ready. In your reply, please verify: 1. Shipping address for your new processor 2. Any missing accessories or packing material 3. Any known hardware issues with your XMC-1 (if applicable) 4. XMC-1 Serial Number 5. HDMI board version (if you know) 6. If you ordered from a dealer, please also include you purchase receipt" This morning I have requested that the evaluation/return period be confirmed for the RMC-1. I have also asked what the status of a returned XMC-1 would be if for some reason the RMC-1/RMC-1L/XMC-2 upgrade unit was returned. Would the XMC-1 or replacement be returned or would a credit for the cost of the purchased unit be applied to our account. If I recall correctly, I saw (either here or an email to me from Emotiva) that the XMC-1 would not be returned. That is about it. Will let all know what info I get back. Best Regards, Steve How long did the process take? How soon after they received your XMC-1 did they ship out your RMC 1. Im currently also going through the trade in process and am curious what to expect. Joe

I placed my order on July 15th and received my RMC on the 23rd. They received my XMC on a Thursday or Friday and because of the weekend did not get the RMC out until Monday or maybe Tuesday. I live in Northern Virginia so travel time for the shipments was only a couple of days. All in all it was a week or a little more for the entire process (including that weekend).
Regards,
Steve

That's not to bad at all. Per UPS Emotiva is supposed to receive my XMC-1 tomorrow. So hopefully I should have my RMC 1 next week. Joe

Does anyone know if the XMC-2 or RMC-1L will have eARC or just ARC. Just got a Samsung 82" Q90R so I'll be trading in my XMC-1 ASP for either the XMC-2 or the RMC-1L most likely the XMC-2. Samsung is adding eARC in the next firmware update.

As I recall, the V3 board requires a hardware change to support eARC. I suspect they will wait for the 2.1 board. The LG C9 OLED is HDMI 2.1 and input changes have gone from over 10 seconds to about 4 seconds. HDMI 2.1 may be an opportunity to improve HDMI compatibility and performance. - Rich

It would make no sense for them to not discontinue the upgrade path before that release. I’d hold on to mine for sure.

Some manufacturers with an HDMI 2.0b implementation have been able to add eARC features with firmware, though nothing that requires the extra bandwidth. m.emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/972178/threadNote to self: Wait until the XMC-2 starts shipping with the 2.1 video board before considering trading in your XMC-1. (All other things being equal). I have much more use for Atmos/DTS:X than HDMI 2.1, so I’m ready to go now. With what’s on their plate I’d be surprised if we see 2.1 before next summer. Sure, the reports of faster switching are encouraging, maybe I’ll be ready to go from the XMC-2 to the RMC-1 by then?

Note to self: Wait until the XMC-2 starts shipping with the 2.1 video board before considering trading in your XMC-1. (All other things being equal). Erm…. this is Emotiva….. The XMC-2 mark 1 isn't even released yet and the RMC-1 is not up to release spec yet! (Experimental firmwares for the RMC-1 are still being released and the unaddressed lack of Dirac and possible implementation issues are still an issue) (Is the dual DSP processing power even going to be enough to do Dirac Live on the 16 channels at 24/96??) Waiting for the release of an XMC-2 mark 2 with HDMI 2.1 seems a rather disappointing and over optimistic purgatory to put yourself through!
