I see it as a HUGE plus. Much better than a fair deal to me. Agree - although not a gift, it is a great deal. Reminds me of the old days when XPA-5 amps were $500, and there were Secret Warehouse Sales. Good times. Wow! The XPA-5 was $800 back in February 2010 when I bought mine NIB and A-stock! They must have really jacked up their prices from whenever you saw it for $500! Either that, or they saw me coming!

Don't look a gift horse in the MouthThis is an old idiom but it is relevant for this XMC-1 to XMC-2 offer. You are getting a brand new system with a brand new 5-year warranty from a company that has done a great job of delivering the goods over its time. It is time for pure gratitude folks. You will get your friggin Dirac so peace!!! I don´t see a gift here. I see a fair deal from Emotiva, nothing more, nothing less. This deal was offered instead of the promised upgrade board for the XMC-1. With the XMC-1 in its current state I know what I have. The XMC-2 is still quite an unknown factor for me - and after my experiences with the UMC-200 and XMC-1, it is better to be safe than sorry - also an old idiom. You have your "koolaided" perspective, others have different ones. No problem with that, just don´t tell other people what to do or when to be grateful and when not. Everyone is entitled to his / her / its own personal opinion. which also means..... the ones who expressed a positive opinion are allowed theirs. you apparently don't want them to be allowed that. btw... pejoratives like "koolaided perspective" doesn't speak well to yours and your ability or lack thereof to speak objectively. tchaik....

Money invested in XMC-1 = $1,200 Money invested in V3 board = $450 Money invested in DIRAC full = $100 Total investment = $1,750 Price of XMC-2 = $3,000 Max return of XMC-1 3rd party sale = $1,750 (who gets full price for a 5 year old processor?) Price of XMC-2 after XMC-1 3rd party sale = $1,250 Sale price of XMC-2 w/XMC-1 trade-in from Emotiva = $601 Savings = $649 Yep, I'll call that a gift... or one hell of a deal! And, lets not forget that other than not having DIRAC at the moment, XMC-1 owners are trading up in every department. There’s also the less quantifiable (but great personal value) that we’ve had as much as 5+ years of enjoyable use out of the XMC-1.

Print this, attach to cardboard, fill in hole! 😎 Whenever I touch the volume knob of the cardboard cutout it makes a loud THUMP. Have you seen that problem with yours? The early models had that problem, Lonnie posted notes for a foam core upgrade that took care of that. If you send the cardboard back in the original box 📦 the upgrade is free (just a $50 shipping charge). 🤔😆

Quick update for anyone who purchased Monoprice XLR to RCA cables. It is super simple to open the XLR head and snip the connector wire between the Unbalanced pin and Ground. If I saw Keith's notice before I ordered the cables I would have ordered the ones from Emotiva...but I have these in hand. Takes about a minute to do each one.

Don't forget to include the value of having an XMC-1 to listen to for X years prior to upgrade. That also has a value. Hard to put a number on it, but it's worth something. Money invested in XMC-1 = $1,200 Money invested in V3 board = $450 Money invested in DIRAC full = $100 Total investment = $1,750 Price of XMC-2 = $3,000 Max return of XMC-1 3rd party sale = $1,750 (who gets full price for a 5 year old processor?) I paid about $850 for mine. Don't forget, the older unites were made in China. The new units are assembled and tested in Franklin, TN. Labor costs are higher, but quality control is probably better. You are also paying for newer technology. Tariffs may also play a factor on parts manufactured in China.

Not sure if I'm the only one who has this problem, but why can't I stop checking the UPS tracking status of my XMC-1 as it travels back to Franklin?! It should get there tomorrow, and it's not going to go any faster because I looked again. Seriously, I've checked the tracking at least 10 times today! WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??? Guaranteed I'll be checking it twice as often when I get a tracking number for the inbound XMC-2. Anyone have any advice to help my neurosis?

Just commenting that I don't remember the XPA-5 being less than $800 (NIB, A-stock, non-closeout/sale).

I'll be able to watch mine from the time it leaves the house to the time Emotiva takes delivery of it. The wait to ship would be too much for me to take. It's also why I'll pick the XMC-2 up a day or two later when it's ready!

Good advice, but that's frowned on by management. Think I'll pour a glass of medicine when I get home though. Thanks.

Keith said it was recommended but not necessary. Look a few posts up and you will see his post. I don't have any pictures but you can Google how to disassemble an XLR connector and see how easy it is. The pins are easy, again Google them and you will see the layout. I used a continuity tester to check the cable and found the Inverse pin and the Ground were connected.
Once the housing was opened (3 screws), you could see the short piece of wire connecting the two pins, I simply snipped it off both pins so there was no way it could reconnect.
It took about a minute to do each cable...super easy.
Hope this helps

You got it right with your first sentence, that´s exactly what I meant and wrote. Regarding your sentences after the first one, please read my post again. I did and I can´t find any paragraph where I say anything about not wanting anyone to be allowed to have an own / different opinion - actually I expressed the opposite. I just take it as you overinterpreting and maybe a litte overreacting, I don´t want to put more oil into the flames. Btw. how is "koolaided" any worse than "friggin"? I don´t even see it as pejorative, as it has often been used in this forum and imho just means that someone is very "pro Emotiva", which of course happens in an Emotiva forum. To sum it up, I don´t have a problem with different opinions (actually the differences are what makes the world a more interesting place imho) I just don´t like to be told to be grateful / hateful or whateverful and naturally and normally I also don´t tend to try to something like that myself.

I already felt lucky to get it for $1.499 with the V2 board, which actually proved to be pretty useless, at least for me. Also for us international buyers there are still the shipping costs to be added. That´s why I call it a fair or maybe even very fair deal but for me it´s just not such a no brainer as it might be for some of you. Regarding the "XMC-1 owners are trading up in every department" I am really interested what points do you mean? I won´t do ATMOS in at least the next years, so that isn´t important for me. Actually I was mostly interested in the Atmos board for the XMC-1 due to the chance that the added DSP power might enable 96kHz DIRAC. Regarding the DAC, the AKM is better on paper but the BB in the XMC-1 is still nothing to sneeze at and I am actually not so sure that the AKM will sound better - would be very interesting if anyone is able to do a A/B comparison spl calibrated. Also I am a little bit worried about the SMPS. I had to replace the one in my UMC-200 already once. So in this regard I actually like the conventional power supply of the XMC-1 better, but that may just be me.

So in this regard I actually like the conventional power supply of the XMC-1 better, but that may just be me. I understand where you're coming from. A friend of mine bought his XMC-1 within the last year at full price and with V3 board ($2,500). He only uses it for 2-channel. Other than the extra processing power for the latest version of DIRAC (the reason he bought it) he's not seeing as much of a savings as what I posted either. Additional fees, however are the cost of doing business. I have to pay taxes because I live in 10-OC that my same friend living in Illinois does not have to pay. In my example I commented that I wouldn't likely be able to get full investment if I sold 3rd party. So, even though you have more invested in your XMC-1 (excluding additional fees), the price you would be able to get for your XMC-1 would be similar to what I could get for mine. Realistically, with the XMC-1 at EOL and its replacement on the shelves and 3rd party sites, would we be able to $1,200 for our units after paying percentages and fees to the site that we listed on? Sure, one of us (or both) may know some Gomer with more money than brains to pay us $2,000. But, that would not be the norm. Likewise, you may be able to charge a premium over what I could with my unit because you've already absorbed those additional fees that a perspective buyer in your area would have to pay if buying new from Emotiva. The point I was trying to make in my original post and this one is that, pending you want and XMC-2, you're not going to get a better deal on the table.

I ended up jumping on the RMC-1L upgrade.
No more upgrades are shown. Is the upgrade no longer available now?
