A teacher in my high school painting class used an airbrush to create wrinkles on canvas. No amount of ironing would ever make them go away. LOL!! I get a lot of these shirts of various prints...all shipped from overseas...all come in wrinkled. But I love them. Mark

I guess my latest purchase would be the college degrees for my little baby girl. Was it 16 years ago we had Emofest in 2008? If so, this young lady attended as a 6 year old. Dual degrees in Biology and Psychology from Ohio State University, with a masters in anethesia to follow. A very smart, very driven, and very independent young lady. Proud father... Mark

Mark Congratulations! You should be quite proud and pat yourself on the back for doing such a great job. No doubt she’s going to be “a mover and a shaker”, lol. 👍

I'd expect that to be a ripper, but being an audio forum. How's the factory sound system?

Thanks, it's Quite nice, Bose but with a good sub. I don't have a Porsche, but my car has a Harman Kardon system. From the factory, the bass was a bit bloated. Using House Curve app over CarPlay, I was able to dial it in to more normal levels. On my car, simply lowering the bass, seem to only effect the subwoofer. Not sure how your car is tuned stock, or what it sounds like, but in general, I feel like cars stock systems are tuned for the masses(bass boom), not audio nerds. My systems is tuned closer to decent floor standing speakers and closer to true balance. Door cards and car space IMO has always been the anti ideal sound space, but at least I got things close enough to just enjoy what it can be.

One of my 2 SVS PB-12 Plus amps died and was out of warranty at this point. Worked with SVS and bought two new 1200 watt sledge amps from the current 4000 series and flashed for my driver size with the Bluetooth capability at a very fair price from SVS. Now both subs have far better amps and control from my phone and SVS app versus the funky control knob on the back. All in all, nice purchase and refresh of those subs (still work and sound great in my space). SVS was really great to work with

The crop is needed, and I want a Canon body. My L mount 70-200mm constant F4 lens I want a native fit and more reach. Don't trust the Sony Crop bodies with my MC-11 Sigma. Kind of wonky. MC-11 works bitchin' on my A7III though. Who knew? For my FOH photography mostly and stuff and things. Can't wait to get this. Might be my new killer air show camera too. We'll see. It is the Canon M5.

Definitely made a noticeable difference all around, but I did end up moving them into my bedroom setup as I replaced them with twin PSA’s.

I'll tell you a bit of trivia... and something to look for when it arrives. (I'm pretty sure this is the actual movie I'm thinking of.)
This involves the original DVD release of the movie... And it will be interesting to see if it's fixed in the new release... (I'll bet it is)
OK, as you're probably aware, all digital video, including DVDs, is compressed... And part of what makes this possible is that the MPeG compression algorithms recognize duplication between frames... (If the algorithm recognizes the exact same pattern on two consecutive frames is only saves that area of one of the frames - sort of.)
Now, look at what happens if you start with a noisy original, like maybe an old analog videotape... You get background noise... not film grain... but that smooth noise that is the video equivalent of random noise at the pixel level. The problem is that, since every pixel is different on every frame, video with that sort of noise basically cannot be compressed. And this would be a serious problem for a DVD - which cannot physically hold two hours of video without SIGNIFICANT compression. The solution is to apply a noise filter to the video before encoding it for the DVD. The filter sets a threshold... and any differences in frames "below that threshold" is discarded as noise.
So you filter out the differences between frames that are "just noise" before encoding each frame. The catch is that, unless a human sets the parameters, sometimes this process doesn't work out exactly right...
Here's the thing... In one of those old tornado disaster movies (I think it's this one)... There are a few scenes where the background consists of a sky full of really ominous slowly swirling dark grey clouds... Or, at least, that's what you see on the VHS version... BUT, at least on the original DVD version, THE CLOUDS DON'T ALWAYS SWIRL... they sit dead still some of the time.
(The parameters were set wrong, the dark clouds are below the threshold, and the slow swirling of the dark clouds is filtered out as "noise".)
So, when you get to one of the scenes where the sky is full of angry dark swirling clouds... See if the clouds stop moving in a really odd way from time to time... I've heard many rumors about this release... it's finally available for pre-order.

Like Keith says, but I am not getting an 800 pound IMAX film copy anyway. Part of the package of digital is compromise. You only have so much space for the presentation, and other overhead.
How Kaleidescape does it with uncompressed mezzanine files is beyond me.

Come on Mark “the Official EmoFest Scribe” should know better!!! Actually, you are close, but didn't quite get it right. It is "THE" not "the". The pronunciation must be in all caps...they kind of shout it. Meanwhile...here's me and my grad! (Her boyfriend is the guy in the light blue shirt behind me over my right should...good guy...smart, worldly, and very driven) Mark

I do fear a lightning strike when I wear one. So far, so good. Post-PS...I didn't have to purchase my son's Purdue degree. He got a full scholarship from the Navy to get his Aero/Astro Engineering degree from Purdue. BONUS!!!! Here he is with a statue of Neil Armstrong in front of the home to his engineering school at Purdue. He's now wrapping up his final post-commissioning Naval training before move to San Diego for his first field assignment. This young man was also at the first Emofest...but much smaller.
