I kinda can't wait for the McIntosh C-2200 I won on eBay to come in ,I've had mine in my system over a decade & it's my all time favorite tube preamp ,I love it's tone control circuits too ,only problem is I've gotta give up my remote control to my son so he can have a fully functional C-2200 ,I'm excited my son's getting his first non pro audio tube preamp,I'll post unboxing pics when it arrives in a week or so ,it's coming LTL shipping strapped to a pallet so chances are good for no damages .

I decided to ruin my son's life and initiate him to the joy of music beyond compressed streaming through earbuds . At $350 down from $500 this was hard to pass on as a Christmas present for a 16-yr old. Denon RCD-M41 micro system.

I did this when my son was like 10 y.o. or so. He thought he would never need anything beyond his iTouch. Wait for the BIG smile when he truly hears his music for the 1st time.

Good morning David, you are up early as well on this rainy New England morning. The youngster is used to decent music, thanks to our main system in our family room. However, having something in his room should save him from the horrors of Spotify π. He has a good ear, he plays several instruments, including violin in his school orchestra. The bug of listening to correctly reproduced music has not bitten him yet, though. When I point out that I can tell without looking whether he is streaming via Bluetooth or listening a CD on our Emotiva gear, he laughs and tells me "You are such an audiophile, dad!" We'll see who has the last laugh π

My son loves vinyl the most now. Enjoy!

If you would like to try something different, I recommend this: theriverboston.com/discover/radio-programs/acoustic-cafe/If you do not get good reception where you live, they stream it too. Interesting you mention vinyl, my son is very intrigued by it (and by tube gear). In fact, he has been asking me why we don't buy a turntable for our main system. Unfortunately, the current physical setup makes very difficult to find a good spot for it. However one of the reason I picked this Denon system (besides having read good things from multiple sources on its audio qualities) is the several inputs it has. It is not at all unlikely that we may get a turntable for his system π.

I recapped my Carver MXR150 receiver and found an original pair of Klipsch Heresy and added a Teac DAC for his iTouch. I then got him a pair of Polk RTA12C - meh; so since I restore AR speakers I got him a pair of TSW610. He often asks to use my tube amp and rare AR10Pi speakers, It's all good.

Wow, nice setup for probably not much money. The AR10Pi are from before my time with audio stuff, but the TSW610 is the kind of speaker I grew up with as a teenager in the 80's. All good indeed.

Denon RCD-M41 micro system. weather you know it or not your son will have learned the importance of high quality music reproduction from his father , I don't know your son's age but as soon as my eldest moved out he ebayed his 1st real stereo ,you & I wouldn't own gear that cheap but he was proud & it reminded me of when I was a kid , trust me in this brother ,your some love for audio equipment is already instilled within him ,when he asks for a pair of Class A Krell Monoblocks is when ya know we've went too far lol ,merry Christmas all .

I too go in spurts ,for the last few months my Sunday morning music has been 70s funk like Parliment Funkadelic ,Rick James and Bootsy Collins ,prior to that I was on a Flamenco guitar kick ,what makes me happiest is when my wife says " no more " and takes over the music & plays what she likes ,I hate 99% of it but it brightens her day listening to Shania Twain .

Time to get a new phone. 6S was getting old in the tooth and a third battery just isnβt going to outlast the next IOS upgrade! My opinion there. So a rebate gets me an IPhone XR 128 GB
