Hello everyone, I am new here and this is my first post. I have a 7.2 HT system that is my first and was completed as a 5.2 system in late 2018. My current 7.2 system consists of the following.
Denon AVR4400hr 2-RF-7lll,s RC-64lll 2-SVS SB-Ultra 16,s 2-RP205,s 2-RP600m,s Emotiva XPA-5 250wpc for surrounds and center Emotiva XPR-DR2 550wpc for L/R fronts Sony ES1000 4k blue ray LG 65'' 4K OLED
I would like to up grade my Denon AVR to the Emotiva RMC-1L. The more I read about it the more I want the RMC-1L. I use Spotify for my music streaming. Can anyone tell me if the RMC-1L handles Spotify?? I have not been able to confirm this with everything I have read about the RMC-1L. Also will I still be able to use my I-Pad with the Spotify App to select songs to play? I just cant imagine with all great things about the RMC-1L that it would not have the ability to run Spotify, but if it does not, then will there still be a way to do it?
Thank you.

There are no ‘Apps’ on any of the Emotiva processors, you will need an outboard streamer for Spotify (or anything else). That streamer would also need the remote iPad function you want to maintain. Not stupid at all.

What AudioHTIT said. Most internal apps on receivers or other processors, aren't so hot any way. External devices handling your content is the best. The most advanced and capable systems use other streaming devices for the job of Qobuz,Tidal,Spotify and so on. There really is no reason at all why any AV product needs to handle these services other than marketing bragging fodder. These do nothing to aid in performance of the Processor, or AV Receiver.

There are no stupid questions.

Thank you AUTIO HTIT, VCAUTOKID, and DavidR. I have only been in the hobby about two years and learning more each day. I never even knew there were external devices to handle music streaming like Spotify, Tidal and such. That makes total sense.

One option you might consider would be to use something like an Apple TV4K for both Spotify audio, and whatever video streaming you might do (Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc). If you’re not an Apple guy, a Roku is another video streamer that probably does Spotify. I don’t know if either allows for a Spotify iPad remote, but there is a general iPad remote for TV. It’s worth exploring the idea of a single streamer for audio and video.

You mention in your equipment list a LG 65" OLED. It must be a smart TV, as such I'd bet there is a Spotify app you can download from the LG app store.
I'd say that is the easiest way of streaming Spotify. You may already have setup your TV to feed audio to your AVR. If not, you can easily do that using HDMI and the ARC function or the TV optical output.

So your Denon has what called Spotify Connect. Which honestly is very cool. Your iPhone/iPad works as a remote and your Denon pulls the Spotify data directly from the internet. It works really well. If you go to a RMC/XMC processor you will need to get an external streamer box. I have a Bluesound Node 2i that I use and it’s great, but there are several other streamer boxes you could look at.

Congrats on the upgrades ranger61.
I suspect Denon, Onkyo, etc get paid for those "features" apps built-in. Then those "features" can get into your pocket also.

Something like this Arylic S10 would be perfect for Spotify use, you would simply connect it to one of the RMC-1L analog inputs, there is an app you download to use it and add your streaming accounts such as Spotify, it's only $79, otherwise if you were going with a higher quality streaming service like Tidal or Qobuz I would suggest the S50 Pro+ as it has a digital output to take advantage of the RMC-1L's DAC but if just Spotify the cheaper S10 will be fine Chad

Plus if he gets a phone call etc it will disrupt the music that is playing. The better choice in the Arylic lineup would be the S50 Pro+. It has Spotify Connect built in to it, plus Airplay and built in support for a variety of other streaming music. Priced at $219 it is less than half of the Bluesound Node. www.arylic.com/products/s50pro-wireless-preamplifier

Hello everyone, This is a update to my previous post. First I want to thank all of you that gave advice and shared your knowledge with me. After learning from you guys that the RMC1-L processor does not have a Spotify app and that a outboard network player would be a good choice if I was not going to use my LG OLED smart tv Spotify app, I went with a outboard network player. I went with the Cambridge Audio CXN-V2. It was pricey at $1,100 but I really liked the options and performance it offers. So I did also replace my Denon AVR-X4400H with the Emotiva RMC-1L as well. I have many questions about the vast amount of options and features the RMC-1L has. Being that I have only been in the hobby since late 2018 a lot of these features and options are like a different language to me. So I read and re-read the manual looking for answers to my questions. I have everything connected and took great care in making sure my connections were correct. At this point I am able to play Spotify thru my Network player then to my RMC-1L. My TV works and has sound when streaming Netflix but no sound for watching just TV. Also I cant figure out how to switch to movie mode or get my Sony Blue ray player to play a disk. One last question...when I was using my Denon AVR it put off a lot of heat so I used a AC Infinity cooling fan. I noticed on my RMC-1L it has a much smaller cooling vent area on top. Do I need to run a cooling fan on my new RMC-1L?? I would think it would run much cooler than the Denon. I am sorry for my verbose post. I just wanted make sure you understand what Iam trying to say. Thank you in advance for your help.
