I think experiences both good and bad are important here so that newcomers will not only read of the problems some may be having. They need to see the positive experiences, too. Being a fanboy or a poohboy has nothing to do with whether the processors work well for us or not. Known and continuous problems, stated on the board, are not fixed by someone responding that their processor works for them and is stable. There are obviously enough unfixable G3P specific problems for Emotiva to offer such a nice upgrade price - assuming there will be a G4P. I'm also assuming it will work as intended. These stability issues are Not going to be fixed by constant review of connected equipment. They are processor issues. All of us who have years of continuous issues have done everything to minimize potential connected equipment issues. For my own part, sources are blu-ray players and the balanced analog output of a phono preamp. That’s it. All HDMI cables are Zeskit and Ruipro 8K and and have inserted CEC-less adapters. No automation. No fancy routing. Minimal use of bass management, only for the 2 height channels, which doesn’t fully work anyway. No PEQ or room correction from the RMC. I setup the speaker layout for size, level, and distance, and add a few Preferences. IT’S THE PROCESSOR... Keying on my use of the word fanboy to make one appear to be a victim makes a nice diversionary strawman to argue about. Telling me, a frustrated 4 and 1/2 year owner with a LEMON processor, to ‘move on’ and quit ‘pissing and moaning’, is disgusting. I don’t care what color of ‘dog’ you are. People can choose to not read my posts too. This response is to several recent posts; not just yours. What kind of TV are you using? I'm wondering if it is certain brands of TVs the processor has issues working with. I have a Samsung OLED TV (S95B) and mostly use a Apple TV as my source. I'm not even using DIRAC. My music sources are all connected via Analogue. My Lumin T2 is connected via balanced and my Turntable via RCA. Running a 7.2.2 setup so only two height channels for me also. I agree 100% it is the processor. Switch the input back and forth the metallic sound goes away. Sometimes it takes a power cycle (back power switch off and on) to fix the incorrect channel mapping issue. Another thing I wonder about is how many keep their processor in stand by mode. I do this to save boot up time.

I'm going to post a short "editorial comment" here... I'm going to start by reminding EVERYONE whose forum this is... in case you forgot... it's owned and run by EMOTIVA. Some manufacturers would simply delete any negative comments... we don't... and we let everyone have their say... and that does include everyone... We assume that, these days, many potential customers will "cruise the forums" before making a purchasing decision... And, yes, we ALL know that people who have problems are more likely to post online, which tends to exaggerate the percentage of customers who have problems with any product. And, with that in mind, if we're allowing people to post complaints about issues they're having, then it only seems fair to let happy customers have their say as well. That way anyone coming in from the outside gets a more balanced view of the situation. BUT... AND THIS GOES FOR BOTH SIDES OF THE DISCUSSION... THE PURPOSE OF OUR FORUMS IS OVERALL TO BE INFORMATIVE AND HELPFUL. Obviously the fact that someone had a great experience with a product doesn't prove that the product is perfect... But the fact that someone had a bad experience equally doesn't prove that the product is badly flawed... Unfortunately, the world we live in has become very complicated, and that is especially true for things like the HDMI standard... Therefore, it is absolutely possible for two products that "both work right", or "both work pretty well", to still NOT work together... And sometimes that does include something as seemingly simple as a certain model of processor and a certain model of TV... And, all that said, it is indeed possible that "you just got a bad unit"... and that's why we have a 30 day return policy and a five year warranty. And, no, we're not perfect... but we do try. I just noticed this particular post and I think it deserves a reply. IN PRINCIPLE I agree with you wholeheartedly. However, in practice, the world we live in is far from perfect. There are always going to be priorities, and limitations, and time considerations. Yes, if we could deliver an RMC-1 for 10% more, that sounded as good as it does now, and delivered a perfect user experience, we could sell a lot of them. The problem is that this is not what we're talking about. HDMI has gotten very complicated... Which makes it more expensive to do... and even more expensive to do right... And, even if you match the spec exactly, then you have to get your product to work with all the others, which may or may not do so. You can spend 2x or 3x the price of an RMC-1 on a processor from one or two of our competitors... And they do have a few bells and whistles that we haven't incorporated into the RMC-1 yet... And, although I haven't listened to one lately, I'm sure that, at that price, they can deliver sound quality equal to ours as well. But they still aren't "flawless" by any stretch of the imagination... We think that we're providing an excellent balance between price, performance, and value. (And, yes, that includes putting sound quality at the top of our priority list.) A lot of our customers seem to agree... But, as with most things, we admit that we cannot please everyone. (But we do continue to try.) .................................... .......................... Bottom line - I think you are suggesting we accept these function flaws because the RMC sounds good. This logic doesn't work for me. Function and sound are both foundations of a good processor. A processor is too expensive to have one without the other. Pay the price for good function, and charge what is required. You will have happier customers, and more of them. If I paid 10% more for my RMC-1L to have flawless function with the same sound and features, it will still be less expensive than most processors. Price does NOT = Value.

No discernible issues with either TV. Processor is in LPS.

Price does NOT = Value. You people in the industry have to work out these fundamental function flaws. The HDMI 'Standard' is an oxymoron. HDMI was first designed in 2002. Yet, here we are in 2024 still trying to get it to play nice between components, when HDMI is the 'standard' type of connection in use, AND, while using the HDMI 'Standard' as an excuse for all bad connectivity behavior. This is a circle of much more than confusion. There ought to be Class Action and criminal negligence suits against everyone in the Industry connected to the HDMI 'Standard'. This is Not about an imperfect user experience; like having a GUI that is primitive. Connectivity should Not be an issue. It has also become a fallback to blame component connectivity when the real issue IS the processor. The minority of users who experience serious processor issues should be more a part of a troubleshooting program than to ask us to make audio recordings of the 'zingy' sound. Nor is a post comment from someone who says "Gee, mine works" very helpful. Some of us, like me, have vast audio and video technical backgrounds. None of us knows everything. But, after a 35 year career in pro audio and video, including a lot of pro audio system design, I think I know how to plug in a TV or audio component. Perhaps you could start with a questionnaire about our - the people who have serious processor issues - personal equipment and use. Perhaps there are commonalities. Perhaps there are commonalities of equipment and use with people who have few issues. Perhaps you could believe us when we tell you similar experiences of processor malfunction, that does affect sound quality, and do something proactive concerning customer support. Hint - Good Will Is Priceless. My bad experience is NOT proving that the RMC is flawed, or that others can't have good experiences. It is proving that MY RMC-1L is flawed. I wait for the G4P upgrade to fix the issues. Bottom line again - I think you are still suggesting we accept these function flaws because the RMC sounds good. This logic doesn't work for me. When your/my RMC-1L high sound quality processor produces bad sound because of poor function, please don't tell me about your prioritization of sound quality. A processor that doesn't function properly, or sounds bad because of poor function, is Not a "balance between price, performance, and value". It is of NO value at any price. Saying your processor may not function well, but when it does it sounds really good, is NOT much of a marketing strategy.

And, although I haven't listened to one lately, I'm sure that, at that price, they can deliver sound quality equal to ours as well. But they still aren't "flawless" by any stretch of the imagination... Except for the fact that the multipliers you mention are too low, Trinnov falls in the "still aren't "flawless"" category. Quotes from Trinnov owners on other forums, " random loud pops . . .You guys with the clicks and/or dropouts....what software version?sometimes "clicks", sometimes it "pops" . . .Since the Apple TV outputs PCM for everything except shows with Atmos, I was frequently noticing the “popping / clicking” sounds.Does the Trinnov website post a ChangeLog of the different versions of the Altitude firmware ? Cannot find this info.It takes at around 10-15 seconds for my Altitude 32 begin outputting sound. This is a bit annoying when demoing short Dolby demo clips. Is this normal?I am experiencing the same delays (usually 10-15 seconds) for audio lock and I have nothing else in the signal chain...The Apple TV4K requires the input to be switched on to a different one then back to it or the video won't display.I just tried changing the HDMI port type from HDMI 2.1 to HDMI 2.0b. Seems to have fixed the issue. I'll check again tomorrow. For now want to relax. I'm guessing maybe Trinnov still need to figure out some teething issues with these new HDMI 2.1 boards.they do have issues with the HDMI 2.1 boards, some people are lucky some not so much.when i toggle to my Pc the text is very very fuzzy. when i swap inputs back its then crystal clear. hdmi issue ?? (Answer from other owner: Yes)When i take this approach the post calibration result is too low LCR and too loud surrounds. I also get pops from my R speaker on loud volumes which i've never heard before. For those who have upgraded to the new HDMI 2.1 card, are you having any issues with it?" And it only takes $30K to have the same fun as these owners.

Too bad your XMC-2 has so many problems. Mine has bee stable for a long time. I for one would have zero interest in a G4 processor without Dirac. I'd like to echo your view, my unit is mostly stable also. DLBC is the only feature of interest to me, sans Dirac would be a step backward from the current unit for me. I have some interest in DSD over USB because I have a lot of DSD files. ART would also be great. I can understand why folks with 2.1 HDMI TV’s would love that feature as well.

Unfortunately there is no known way to make that metallic sound happen. Is the metallic sound problem with newer firmware or has it always happened even with the original firmware?

Concerning owners with stable processors The fact that your processor is stable does not fix the processor problems of others. Some people have continuous problems and Emotiva is unresponsive. No amount of talk about sound quality, how well Your processor works, or how great the 'service' is from Emotiva, will fix the Lemons. The 'Lemons' that some of us have are Not being fixed. Tell me again how 'wonderful' Your processor is. Perhaps Your next comment will fix My - or someone else's - 'Lemon', while we wait for G4P Godot. Mine is working just fine. No problems here.

Weren't you the 1 whining about us sharing our experience, perhaps you're the foggy 1 If I stop complaining will my processor magically become stable? If you stop saying your processor is stable when someone describes their processor instability, will your processor become unstable? Share your experiences. I will share mine. - Edited for fan-boy strawman sensitivity concerns... My RMC-1L works very well.
