Will there be AM/FM tuner? Yes, I would like to know that also. That was one of my main attractions for the XMC-1. I'm afraid it has been dropped? I am the only real old fart here so I am not into computer connectability. Does all this: "..........Venice 6.2 streaming engine; allows live internet radio broadcast reception, Pandora, Sirius/XM internet radio, FM, etc..........." mean that all radio must be accessed over the internet? What the hell is a Venice 6.2 streaming engine and Pandora. Can someone explain in senior citizen language? ;D

Lonnie, couple of questions:
- still support two separate video feeds from the HDMI out?
- Does it have HDMI support for multi-channel audio? I guess since is 1.3 compliant, that's a yes.
- Is there a discrete analog pass-through that doesn't use digital conversion?
Looking forward to this replacing my MMC!

So for that pure analog balanced input, shall I assume that doesn't include independant analog bass management? If it does....

no idea what the Venice 6.3 streaming engine is, but Pandora is aaaaawwwwesome!!!! www.pandora.com/Do you have to subscribe/pay for Pandora and do I have to have my computer running to get this? Pandora is one of the best deals going on the internet. It is free and you can build radio stations based on bands or songs you like as they play you see the artist notes and other information. Pandora has a massive database of music and they have algorithms that try and match similar materials. You can vote thumbs up and it will keep the song on your station or thumbs down and it will stop playing, not play again and spin another tune plus there are other options. I have personally found many new sources of music from Pandora and write down the ones I like and check em out. Getting internet radio and you tube through my home stereo is a very cool. I have not used FM or AM in 2 Denon's now which is over 10 years. The sound quality is so bad on those guys but I do like them in my car for football games when I drive. I think it will be worth your while to start studying this new platform as you will be really jazzed once you get it figured out. I definitely see a new thread once these processors come out and maybe Emotiva will have some instructional videos that can educate folks as well. I know what you mean about keeping pace with technology but it is better to get going now as this train won't be stopping anytime soon. I have never gotten into video games which is probably my age showing but learning new things for music sake is a easy decision for me.

chuckienut,
i had the samsung blu-ray 3600 for about 3 weeks before i retuned it when oppo sent me an e-mail that i was next in line for the bdp-83. the samsung had pandora and you can access it through your wireless router. i don't know, but i am assuming the xmc will be easily hooked up to a wireless router.

Only 2 sub outputs... bummer I was hoping for 3 like the MMC-1 has. Simple fix with a "Y" splitter though.

Thanks Reg. I guess now that I'm retired I need to spend some time figuring out what my computer is good for besides, checking e-mails, Emo Lounge, research, visiting X-rated websites, Googling and paying bills. ;D

So that means, that the XMC-1 will connect with my wireless DSL modem like my laptops will? Is a wireless modem the same as a wireless router? I still have to bring up Pandora on my desktop computer to have it communicate with my XMC-1? Sorry about the rookie questions. ;D

Did a little digging. The Frontier Silicon Venice 6.2 does suppose UPNP/DLNA so there is a chance that you will be able to stream content from your PC to the XMC. Here are some highlights I pulled from their site: www.frontier-silicon.com/products/modules/venice6.2.htm* UPnP support - (DLNA compliant) * Supports: AAC+, MP3, Real, WMA and FLAC * USB support (if it ever were hooked up) * iPod/iPhone control including audio playback (Presumably via standard UPNP/DLNA controls) * FM support (on some models.) It looks like quite a cool little device to drop into a system. It will be interesting to see how the interface plays out. I could now see having a separate little monitor 8-10" that was used just for music control. (Speaking of which, does anyone know whether you can output two signals via HDMI that are the same content but different resolutions? And will it support computer resolutions?)

DAB radio would be cool, we have that over in Europe. 2 sub outs, again more would have been nice, but if they are independantly configurable, yay! No side-axis/PLII-z though. I will likely go with the UMC to start with and then probably pick one of these up as well once the features and connectors are firmed up a bit. I was hoping for a spec more like the Onkyo PR-SC5507 but with Emotiva quality, the Onkyo is too expensive though.

On the topic of only 2 sub woofer outputs, most people don't realize that Emotiva buffers there outputs so that you can have upto 6 cevices connected to a single output without negatively impacting the quality of the output signal. With the XMC-1 you could have 10 to 12 sub woofers running off of those 2 ouputs -- just use a Y-adaptor to keep adding more subs.
I am not sure who would ever want to use that many subs, but I am sure there is someone who would give it a try. ;D
