Yeah, 50hrs is a light week these days. I even cut short my vacation so I could do some more work. ;-)
This is another thing that has a very low GFAF/WAF. ;-)

I think it's great he gave the update, but why just to Al? Why not all of us?? I don't know who this Al guy is but if he gets his ahead of me, I won't be a happy customer!

Thanks for the update Dan...I was hoping to hear something along the lines of "...expect a FW update at the end of this week or the beginning of next". Oh well. The fact of the matter is...after having a UMC in my posession for a bit I want a functioning one in my hands in the worst way. I don't want to buy anything else...And that's a good thing isn't it?  |

Emotiva has posted, many times, if you want to ensure that someone from the Corporate office sees your request for information you should either call or E-Mail them directly. They do not closely monitor this forum, and you are gambling that they will see your post. I am not an employee, but during my last phone conversation with Lonnie he indicated that the next FW release is tentatively scheduled for the latter part of this month. Be patient, they are working on it. ;D During my conversation with Lonnie, the new remote was discussed. Lonnie said that he had just recently received the prototype for the new remote control and that he did not like the spacing of the keys. They were too far apart and he had sent the factory new specs for the spacing. He expects the revised remotes would ship from China via air freight the third week of March. If the Customs inspection does not delay them they should be in Franklin by month end. No price was mentioned. Call Cathy for any additional information you are interested in. Well...Emotiva has a thread dedicated to UMC updates. In light of the fact the the UMC still has issues I was hoping they would update it more often for all to see...not just me getting info from a phone call or e-mail. Dan L gave a rough estimate 2 weeks ago that the next FW update would be here about now. Now your implying that it could be another 2 weeks. I think a timely update to the status page is in order...I'm sure a lot of people are waiting for one. It does seem to be Emo's place in life to shout it out, then not follow-up...Dan did say it would be two weeks (approx) two weeks ago. There has not been an Emo statement on "when" the 30 days starts outside of Dan't initial message that the 30 days starts "...when the firmware is released" which is nearly 30 days ago. I am certainly glad my UMC is more than 30 days away still!!!! I don't have to sweat it out...YET. |

I fully understand the want for an update, especially the UMC-1 owners. Take my word on it that Emotiva is in a state of evolution and growth (this is a good thing by the way  , along with the fact that they've been handling the extra duties of the former webmaster, which is why I can say I've cut them some slack. It would only take one of you to give them a call and report back to the forum and everyone here would be highly thankful, otherwise as Big Dan has said in the past, we'll know something when he knows something. They are very friendly and don't bite, I swear. I think you missed the point. An official update would calm many, and would bring a level of confidence. Having a forum member post is useless, it would probably start another he said she said thread.  Next Emo will hire Toyota's PR firm... LOL PLEASE Dan ...DON'T DO IT!!! |

What the h.... are you guys so worried about  ?? even as it is the umc (for i guess 90 % of the buyers without an untold number of more or less weird gadgets to connect) is a bargain ! I`m more than happy to have recived mine and have total confidence in emo to sort out the last issues , so what if it takes a month more , just say no to your pre order and wait and see how it turns out (or buy ,try ,and sell if your not happy , wont cost you a dollar anyway). And for the updates , name one other company staying this close and personal with theit customers , if say denon put out a product and waited for a couple of months with a update , who would go nuts about the chairman personally not replying to a forum post in 5-6 days ? |

I'm pretty sure that is just a "time frame" to give an idea of appx when. That may be true in YOUR context, but in other context that kind of BS "timeline" wouldn't fly. A lot of people are held to time estimates, and may even have penalties asssociated with missing them. An update as to progress is certainly warranted in any case. Now I'm not saying that we should demand EMO give us hard and fast timelines, and certainly there are no penalities assesed(except maybe lost sales), but an update (as Dan did) should be forthcoming when it's known that a "deadline" will be met, or not. This is especially true in this forum where we know the posts will start immediately when a time estimate is passed. |
