Big Dan said at the Axpona Expo that he would be headed off to China today, so I wouldn't expect him to be logging in to give us an update.

ok then..maybe any Emo rep can give an update on the next FW revision. A shout out on details of the new remote would also be very much appreciated. Price, pics, availability, can I opt to not have the original remote included? Stuff like that. I got my email 'go ahead' to order a UMC-1 a couple of weeks ago, but would like to bundle the new remote along with it as well. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Emotiva has posted, many times, if you want to ensure that someone from the Corporate office sees your request for information you should either call or E-Mail them directly. They do not closely monitor this forum, and you are gambling that they will see your post. I am not an employee, but during my last phone conversation with Lonnie he indicated that the next FW release is tentatively scheduled for the latter part of this month. Be patient, they are working on it. ;D During my conversation with Lonnie, the new remote was discussed. Lonnie said that he had just recently received the prototype for the new remote control and that he did not like the spacing of the keys. They were too far apart and he had sent the factory new specs for the spacing. He expects the revised remotes would ship from China via air freight the third week of March. If the Customs inspection does not delay them they should be in Franklin by month end. No price was mentioned. Call Cathy for any additional information you are interested in.

Well...Emotiva has a thread dedicated to UMC updates. In light of the fact the the UMC still has issues I was hoping they would update it more often for all to see...not just me getting info from a phone call or e-mail. Dan L gave a rough estimate 2 weeks ago that the next FW update would be here about now. Now your implying that it could be another 2 weeks. I think a timely update to the status page is in order...I'm sure a lot of people are waiting for one.

I too have been checking for the official update thread from Big Dan. I am sure all of us would like "real-time" updates on the status of all UMC-1 happenings.
I know that my post was not nearly as satisfying as one from Big Dan, but I felt it was better than nothing. I spoke with Lonnie about a week ago and that was the latest info I have been able to pick up on.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Lonnie always gives very conservative estimates. This way, if Emotiva is a little late on delivering for one reason or another, people will not be as upset; and if they deliver earlier than stated everyone will be happy. With all the outside activities competing for their attention I am sure that Dan and Lonnie are snowed under. I try to filter that into my impatience on wanting an update.
I was involved in software development for a lot of years and all these FW upgrades require a lot of time to make sure they have not created new issues. I want my UMC-1 upgrade as much as anyone else, but I am aware these things take time. I am confident that we will be getting updates from Emotiva very soon.
Why am I confident? Lonnie said the FW upgrade was being tested by the software engineers as we were talking. The last thing Emotiva wants to do now is release an upgrade that causes new issues, so intensive testing is the order of the day. Additionally, this is the week that Big Dan was referring to in his last update; therefore, I would not expect to hear from him before now. Yes, it would be nice to get more frequent updates, but let's realize they do have other duties beyond keeping us notified. ;D

their track record has said enough. why any of you would hold emo to a timeline is beyond me....
on the other hand, i wish/hope they get it right SOON so it can help those like myself as to whether they want to give the umc a shot or not.

I hope that Emotiva is not regressing to their old ways of not saying anything for long periods of time. They were really keeping us well informed for awhile. One email to the update thread has got to be a lot more efficient than taking time to answer individual telephone calls from 30 of us.

I fully understand the want for an update, especially the UMC-1 owners. Take my word on it that Emotiva is in a state of evolution and growth (this is a good thing by the way , along with the fact that they've been handling the extra duties of the former webmaster, which is why I can say I've cut them some slack. It would only take one of you to give them a call and report back to the forum and everyone here would be highly thankful, otherwise as Big Dan has said in the past, we'll know something when he knows something. They are very friendly and don't bite, I swear.

A huge thanks to Big Dan for the update after a very hectic last few days! (And, might I add...I know that he's posting from China and just got there, so he must be jet lagged!)
Also an add...I just counted: 9 updates from Big Dan on the UMC-1 since 1/29. Nearly 2 per week on average (and this in the midst of personel turnover, sorting out UMC-1 issues, and keeping the rest of the business going). And, this doesn't even count some posts from Lonnie in various threads mentioning the status of the FW update, the new optional remote, etc.
I know many felt starved for info at various times in the past on the topic of the UMC-1, but the data says to me that Emotiva is being very attentive and took the feedback on lack of communication that many of us gave them.
So, all in all, I give Emotiva an A+ on communication the last few months! Great job!!!

Dan, Thanks for the update. It is really appreciated. When you get a chance would you also give an update on the time frame in which the rest of us first list up-graders might expect to hear from Emotiva. Thanks again. Ray

My guess is shipments of units may have been put on hold until the next FW is ready. I'm on list 2 (should be early on it) and am still waiting and I've not seen a flurry of "Mine is on the truck" posts recently. So fingers Xed, when the new FW is out the floodgates will open and we can all get one.

Not to mention all the PMs the folks at Emotiva have been sending out - they must be pulling 50+ hour weeks (which I know far too much about!).
