I suspect the shipping may have started again due more to cashflow issues than anything else. Well, maybe, but I suspect their main cash cow is the amp business. Fortunately those continue to be high quality and very marketable products. Plus they just started shipping subwoofers. I'm sure that the UMC's are affecting cash flow but I am not worried about that aspect of their business (but, of course this is pure speculation since I don't have any direct knowledge about their business). I'm pretty sure their cash cow is the OEM business, and not the Emotiva brand at all.

I just gave my cc info to emotiva. I did not ask for a firm delivery date, except that it arrive on a Monday. I asked if it will have the as yet unreleased firmware. He said they could load it before shipping. Great! I hope this means there will be an anouncement on firmware soon.....
I know .... it is not definitive.

I just got off the phone and the lady said they are putting a webcast together that will announce the new software in a week. The webcast I understood her to say will be out today.. but don't hold me to that. I didn't clarify that. They asked if I wanted the new update before shipping and of course I said yea. She said they will load firmware there and are getting others preloaded and to expect shipment in a week or 2.

The webcast I understood her to say will be out today.. but don't hold me to that. The 4/2 webcast is up now. Stop me if you've heard this before. The firmware is supposedly "solid as a rock" and should be out within a week or so.

if the new shipments don't have the latest and greatest firmware, consider yourselves played. You are getting shipped hardware with faulty software, do you get that? Do you actually understand that?

^ hit the button, man ... hard. ;D
Getting exciting, again! I should start lining up all the other things I need from the US of A in addition to the UMC like more Emo amps, monoprice TV wall mounts, Samsung LED TVs, etc.
With the Canadian dollar hitting parity, it should be good shopping in the next couple of weeks.

Butcher, what part of the following do you not understand? People have the choice to get the UMC delivered now without the updated firmware or wait until the update has been made and delay their shipment. Consider that those giving their card info can make the above choice. So where's the "play" in that?

Yes, of course it's all speculation and conjecture since none of us really know what's going on with their business finances. That's not any of our business anyway. I'm sure that they're financially sound as a business entity. I fail to see how this Henny-penny, the sky is falling! attitude really helps matters.. If they can afford to bring on Rachel then obviously they are hiring and I doubt they are in any financial bind. Either that or Rachel is so charming they risked bankruptcy to hire her. ;D

If you have used this you need to get your money back. It obviously doesn't work. I hope Ratmice kept his receipt, unless he bought it at Nordstrom's.

No the "Troll Spray" image wasn't OK, nor was the "Fanboy" image. Yes I have deleted what was not appropriate, and if this thread doesn't QUICKLY steer itself back on TOPIC, it will be closed!

if the "troll" image is ok, then surely a "fanboy" image can't offend either... There's only one problem. In case members haven't noticed they are in the Emotiva Family House. They are invited guests here and considered welcome but should not be surprised to find many here who like being part of the Emo Family. Like at any family house, constructive and civil discussions are welcome. However, the confrontational, everything about the family is crap attitude and I have a right to say whatever I want in this house doesn't fly here. Take a look at some members posting history, it is just one negative comment after another, as if they came here with one purpose in mind. Should it surprise folks to find Emotiva fans here or Nikon fans at the Nikonian's forum or Porsche fans at the Porsche forum? Hello!

I hate to say it, but I think the topic's done. There's nothing left to do here BUT argue. Maybe it is time to close this thread?

Whoops, I should post more often, I'm out of practice. But that choice was given to me clearly. Would you like us to send one now or would you like to wait for the one with the latest updates? I chose the second option. I don't mind waiting a bit longer and I am sure I will be happy. I sure have been with everything else I have purchased from Emotiva.

Good news from today's webcast regarding the upcoming firmware. My only concern with the announcement was frequent use of the word "final". It would be great if all I have to do is a single update and everything is spiffy but from experience realize that this is a lot to ask of a single firmware release given the number of reported bugs.
I remain cautiously optimistic and look forward to update.

I'm pretty sure their cash cow is the OEM business, and not the Emotiva brand at all. If their cash flow is fine, then why the unexpected decision to only ship 20% of each batch to upgraders? It's not unexpected. We've been clear about this policy and open about it. It's like using airline miles. There must be certain limits. If every seat is an upgrade... oops, no revenue, no business. We are selling you upgrade units below our actual cost. We must limit them to 20% of sales, or we WILL have financial issues. There is no deception or under handed policy here. It's just common sense from our perspective. It has taken longer to clear the back order list because we have had a soft launch. We are now going to go to full release and those patient and loyal customers are going to get what we have promised, no exceptions. We have many, many, many units here and in route to us to fulfill pre-orders, new orders, and upgrades. Why do we do it? We're selfish. We want you to to be a loyal, happy customer and buy more from the stuff we DO make money on. It's very simple. Our company is well financed, We have virtually NO debt. We own EVERYTHING in our warehouse. We own our facilities, we do not rent (yes, we do have mortgages on them). We pay our taxes. We are among the very few privately owned, closely held audio companies that have actually invested in, and developed an AVP solution. It's difficult and expensive. We've spent over three years doing it and invested heavily in our future. IMO, it has been money well spent. Please do not stir the pot of speculation; it can be really destructive. It is not right and serves no legitimate purpose. If you really are searching for the truth, try calling me. I'll answer your questions, and as I've said before, I'm right here at my desk. I apologize if I'm being too direct here, but I'm tired of the groundless spreading of rumors for titillation and drama. Stepping of soapbox... Big Dan
