haha, nice to know i'm not the only one cruis'in the forums while on a long con-call It provides for a nice diversion while suffering through webinars, as well. Yes or while watching a stable network with full redundancy, although I must admit I get pulled in on both pointless conference calls and webinars. It's good to be an American in the 21st Century, often boring, but always good.

I still don't understand why anybody knowledgable would ever want to run EmoQ. That feature just makes no sense at all.
I wonder what has changed in todays beta? The subwoofer EQ is still a LFE EQ...

I don't use emoQ, I would'nt if it worked. If someone does, and feels it's better, I'm glad to hear it.

Installed the beta-update. I'm pleased to say it has solved my PLIIX, Dolby Digital EX, and the dreaded "no audio" problems. I can pause, ffwd, etc to my hearts content and can't lose the audio! Yaaaayy.

Installed the beta update. Did not go to 100% on my first try but got there on about the 3rd attempt.
Fired up the system and very pleased to have PLII and Neo6 back sounding like they should.
I will continue to test but I am very happy with the direction things have taken.
Thanks so much to Lonnie and his team for the fast turn around and allowing us to hammer away at this early code. I think this is the way to go going forward.

I second "Rang's" other question??? Is a "Factory Default Reset" necessary to complete this beta update?

also are you all doing the Factory Rest after this new bata file is uploaded per the instructions in step 8? Well I was lazy, its a lot of work to customize all my input names so I risked it and didn't do a Factory Reset. I did do a complete power off before and after the update using the rear power switch. All the noted fixes seem to be working. So far so good. It's an improvement over the original V6 for me so I am happier. YMMV. -CB

I just wanted to make sure the "Factory Default Reset" wasn't necessary. This was all of a 10 minute turn-around to update.

disappointing that it doesn't address the audio dropout using FIOS or other cable.... This beta is by no-means a complete fix as Lonnie has stated in his update sticky thread. I personally think the audio dropouts are front and center in getting fixed, so your disappointment shouldn't last long.

disappointing that it doesn't address the audio dropout using FIOS or other cable.... I have not done enough testing so this is preliminary but since I did the beta flash, I don't seem to be hearing the dropouts. I'm on Fios. Take this only as an early observation. I need to test some more with my favorite test bed Bravo HD. One thing that I've noticed is with the original V6 and now with this beta, the volume gain of the UMC seems to be a tad softer than with V5. For example, with V5 I found a level setting of 42 to 44 on the UMC-1 was where I listened for normal TV watching. With V6 and now the beta I have to turn it up 46, 48 even 50 for normal viewing. Not a problem per se, but the gain structure seems to have changed through all these updates. I also noticed that with the beta my LFE level has gone down from V6 maybe back to where it was with V5. -CB

this sounds like good news guys. my umc is still in the box and it will wait for the completed update, but i am glad to hear that some issues are being resolved. hope that the good news continues.
btw...i just don't have time for set-up until the end of the semester. that is why it remains unhooked-up. i am looking forward to it being in the system.

Where did you get your LFE test tones?? Made them myself. OK..I guess I need to be more specific.... The only way to run test tones through the LFE channel is to have the pre/pro decode them as LFE signals. Running plain old low freq test tones into a pre/pro just sends them to high/low pass filter's for the mains then onto your sub. This is not testing the LFE channel. You probaly are already aware of this though. So..specifically..I am asking how you tested your LFE channel. Do you have some kind of program that encodes the low freqs as LFE information?? I would like to to this myself so I'd like to find out how you made them. Thanks Ken
