My UMC-1 arrived with Ver 6 factory installed. Can anyone tell me how to do the new beta upgrade from there? I'll be using Windows 7, Thanks.

Thanks Bill, I downloaded the updated USB drivers from Emonatics but am not sure whether I need to use the unrar program. I can't recall ever doing an upgrade this way.

I would suggest writing down any EQ settings you have, any speaker level settings, and xover points before you load factory default. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up to save a step just in case you had your system dialed in already. I'm performing the update right now.

Roger, forget about RAR and all that stuff. Just use the link for: "Emotiva AVR Upgrade Program self-extracting and auto-executing (recommended)" on that page. I created a completely automated install that will unpack and start setup for you.

Everything else is explained, there are easy-install options for the upgrade program itself, and a troubleshooting section for some of the gotchas. I would actually recommend the v6Beta right now. It's basically what v6 should have been, but not a total fix.

Beta firmware installed ! All right for me except Emo-Q still useless...every time different result.
I calibrated it manualy and I think that the internal test tone for level calibration is not right...I try DVE BD test tone and the result are far away between the two.
Which test tone should I use to calibrate speakers level ?
I know that I must calibrate it to 75dB at my SPL meter for speaker but at wich level should I adjust the subwoofer if all the others speaker were at 75dB for good balance ?

The internal test tones are volume dependent. Play the tone for the FL speaker and adjust the main volume knob until SPL reads 75 dB. Then you can use the other tones, and the channel trims, to balance the other speakers. Sub should be the same, or you can adjust it if you don't like it at 75 dB.

PlIIx in movie mode, dolby 3/2 signal with my 7.1 setup is sending no information to the sides, only the back.

Actually it seems like the audio dropout behavior with DVR has reverted back to v5. Happens a lot less often but when it does you need to change input to fix it (can't pause/resume, etc. to fix anymore).

If I read Lonnie's post telling what has been corrected in this Beta release, my audio dropout should still be a problem. But the problem is gone, I have been tying all day to get the drop problem to show its ugly fase with no luck. Not one audio drop sense I programed the new beta code. Something isnt right here problems dont fix there self. Has anyone else had this happen to them? The source for this problem has been a HD DVR cable box...........

Ok, I'm going to make a joke, so don't get upset. What the hell?! Now people are complaining that they AREN'T having audio dropouts?! Talk about a no-win scenario. ;D

According to the poll the dropouts are either reduced or eliminated.

I have limited code writing experience but I do know that programming meant to fix one thing can inadvertently wreak havoc with something else. Personally the audio dropouts were my biggest worry and am quite happy they have all but stopped.

More beta thoughts: PLIIx sounding much better. Losses of audio when going from 5.1 to 2.0 and back have been dramatically reduced. I had one drop when coming out of a FF last night, it was resolved with a pause and play. This morning I had a total loss of audio that wouldn't respond to channel changes or FF/REW.....shut off the UMC, brought it back up and all is well. I have to say, even with these two glitches, this thing is night and day better than with the original v6. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel R
