Your comments regarding sound quality vs. Rotel are reassuring to me. My ancient Rotel prepro sounds very good. I'm doing all the speaker and bass management in the Oppo bluray player and feeding analog into my Rotel. I really look forward to having a prepro with more flexible speaker management (crossover and EQ).

I'm watching the forums to stay abreast of the software updates. Hopefully things will be mostly working when the "buy" button shows up on the product page.

Someone mentioned the 1056, I had one and it's a cut above any mass mrkt avrs for music.The 1056 is not even in the same class audio wise as the UMC, the 1056 led me to the 1068 in search of better, and it was a nice upgrade, the UMC ended the search quickly.
