I can see clearly now. When you purchase your first Emo pre-pro without using a 40% off certificate you get a 40% off certificate for use at your discretion on your future generation second pre-pro of your choice. With that future generation second pre-pro purchase you do not get another consecutive 40% certificate. You have to wait and purchase a third pre-pro and then you would get another 40% off certificate to use on your fourth pre-pro purchase. Etc., etc., etc., .......... I will purchase the XMC-1 (instead of a Marantz pre-pro) even though I have to pay 100% of the price at that time as I have no 40% certificate from a previous Emo pre-pro. I will then be rewarded with a 40% off certificate for my next Emo pre-pro, the ultra futuristic ZMC-1 pre-pro! Buy Emo pre-pro #1 ..... Get 40% off certificate (for #2) Buy Emo pre-pro #2 ..... Use 40% off certificate Buy Emo pre-pro #3 ..... Get 40% off certificate (for #4) Buy Emo pre-pro #4 ..... Use 40% off certificate Buy Emo pre-pro #5 ..... Get 40% off certificate (for #6) Buy Emo pre-pro #6 ..... Use 40% off certificate (pre-pro purchase must be of a new generation model to use the certificate ..... pre-pro's purchased at sale price as well as regular price qualify for the certificate) Gone are the dark clouds that had me down It's gonna be a bright bright bright bright sun shiny day You know, this is all a racket. Emo should be ashamed of themselves. The UMC-1 is perfectly fine for me and when I bought it, I also looked at the preliminary description for the XMC-1 and figured it didn't really have anything I needed that wasn't already on the UMC-1. So I bought the UMC-1. It still doesn't have anything I need that the UMC-1 doesn't already have except the opportunity to get it for 40% off because of that darn certificate they send out. So now I'm thinking I should buy one just because.

Oh no! Not another Depends post... Well as we all get older, the need becomes more and more frequent. Uh, are we talking about the same "depends?" ;D

What was causing confusion was Dan's post about making the XMC-1 a 3rd generation processor because and I quote he said "it was the right thing to do" but now that the 30 day return is over the story changes like upgrading the UMC to 1.4 HDMI. So much for the right thing to do.
It now reads:
Emotiva Audio "Generation 2.3D" processors are listed as the following models: XMC-1
*Emotiva reserves the right to add, change or delete models or names as it deems prudent. If you are unsure if a particular model is eligible for the offer, please feel free to contact us for clarification.
At least we got $100 bucks for beta testing. Although last time I got an LMC-1 for free for beta testing.

I wish I'd get the UMC-1 free for beta testing; I would really review that machine, you'd better believe it! ;D * Hey Big Dan! I'm open for that if you're interested. (Free of charge to you, and a thoroughly objective review.) -> My offer expires next month, same day (December 3rd) at midnight. ...And if I like it, I'd get to keep it, but I will send you a cheque for the shipping charge for you to send it to Canada at my home address. I'll take care of the duty charge myself right from the bat. Ahhh, make it the shipping charge on my account too. *** Think about it just for few seconds here: At worst, nothing will change, but at best everything would be your good fortune. ...And by a very large margin too. And I ain't kidding you either. I'm serious. Best regards, Bob * This could be the beginning of a very serious and long friendly relationship on a venturesome business of really high stakes with some tremendous potential in a very lucrative and beneficial all around immersion of all the senses from people touching and crossing the boundaries of unlimited and gigantic proportion to the highest happyness level ever seen yet!

I'm pretty sure the podcast said the XMC is eligible for the 40% discount, even though it's not a 3rd gen processor; I seem to recall him calling it a " two and a half generation processor." Or am I misreading your statment?

I am not sure what jeff was try to say in his post, but you are right in that Big Dan did say that all "full price" purchasers of the UMC would be eligible to buy the XMC-1 with the 40% off certificate... and you are also right that Dan did say that they will not be calling the XMC a 3rd generation processor, that maybe they should call it a 2.5 generation for purposes of qualifying to use the discount certificate when buying the XMC.

The XMC-1 is technically not a "3rd generation processor" - but it is a NEXT generation processor up from the UMC-1, which means that if you purchased the UMC-1 at full price you will get the option to buy the XMC-1 at 40% off. I'm not sure if this is what you are inquiring about or not, but just thought I should clarify that. I apologize for the confusion in the naming convention of "2.3D," but please note that it is considered next generation and you can use your 40% discount on the XMC-1 if you choose to.

However, I wish Big Dan would make a statement concerning the disconnect between what he's posted in the past (both what has been noted above and otherwise) and the current policy. You don't need to hold a law degree to figure out the policy has recently changed concerning upgrades. Before anyone says "what's the big deal?" keep in mind that 2 weeks ago Emotiva claimed the policy was clearly stated, only to make changes to it 2 weeks later after forum members called them on the inconsistency. Guess we're a smart group.

Before, it was that even if we got a discount we could get another discount of a next generation. Certainly that was not good business and they changed the policy to read that you had to buy one processor at full price so you can get a discount. They said it was clearly stated but it wasn't. But hey who else offers anything like this. We just jumped on them because it was not clearly stated that you have to buy a processor at full price to get the discount on the next generation. Although I still don't think it says that. That is the way it is to be understood

Rachel
During the podcast it was mentioned that pictures and full details for the XMC-1 would be posted this week on the Lounge and on a Product Page on the Web site. Can you please check and see when we can expect that to happen? I have noticed several members are already posting that Emotiva has dropped the ball again.
If time does not allow for getting this info posted in both locations today, it would reach more people if you can get it up on the Lounge this afternoon. Thanks for your assistance.
