I just picked up a new 3D TV and would like to bring this topic back to the front page - asking those of you with 3D titles to list some of the ones you consider the best. There are many titles available, and rather expensive, so I don't want to waste money picking up some of those horrendously converted-after-the-fact titles. So please post some GOOD recommendations here. Thanks.

Now that I've got the panny 7000 projector. I'm glad I did. 3D is really great and the 7000 is ghost free too!. I'm very happy with the 3d performance!!!

Yes Nathan, most of the people who don't really care about 3D are the ones who never experienced it in their own homes.
* It must be awesome from your Panny 7000 FP!

I detailed a lot of my 3D enjoyment here: emotivalounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=ht&thread=19341&page=3#324303I was surprised to find out how useful frame creation is with 3D for movies. You are not used to viewing the world at 24 frames per second. When the immersion of the home big screen and 3D combine, 24 FPS seems more like visual jitter than a harmless movie effect. The Panasonic PT-AE7000U is great at 3D due to its high refresh rate, but its frame creation feature is also a valuable feature to have when using 3D. I do not like spending a lot of money on expensive electronics, but I do enjoy quality and I feel that it was money well spent. If you really want to enjoy 3D, prioritize your home theater upgrades with a large screen (120" or more) and a capable projector. Viewing 3D on a TV screen is more like a preview of what the 3D effect can do for you than what I would call the full 3D experience.

Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like the animated titles are overwhelmingly the best 3D available at the present time. Easier to control in the implementation I guess. The studios better get on the ball and start filming the live action stuff more with real 3D cameras or this will become another passing fad. I like animated films but not everyone does and you can't sell 3D with just "cartoons" (as some people might refer to them). The review I read about the new Pirates in 3D was not favorable, nor was "Green Lantern" nor "Thor". But "Resident Evil" was favorable and that was filmed in 3D. I'm going to pass on the converted titles - although I may pick up Transformers 3. I'm assuming it's not being released right away in 3D because they want to tweak it some more before the Blu-Ray 3D release - at least hopefully. Based on the article in Widescreen Review magazine, it's a time-consuming and expensive process to convert a title correctly.

Sony just had a sale; and their 3D Blu-ray titles were at a very reasonable price of $19.99 Canadian. That included: * Resident Evil: Afterlife. * Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. * Monster House. * Open Season. * The Green Hornet. * Priest.*** For what you're looking for right now; Avatar (coming up February 2012!), Transformers 3 (coming up soon), Drive Angry, Alice in Wonderland, A Christmas Carol, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (coming up next month); are your best choices. ***** Peter Jackson is filming The Hobbit right now, with new 3D cameras, and at 4K (or is it 48 frames per second?). James Cameron, Michael Bay, Ridley Scott, and other 'hot shots' movie directors, are big on 3D. Give it some more time, and things can only improve from now. But I am mighty impressed meself so far... And Widescreen Review as well; they love 3D, and Gary's a huge fan! {I read all his 3D Blu-ray reviews.} ==> With your new Sharp 70LE735U LED LCD HDTV, 3D should look spectacular!

I'm having a hard time getting glasses for the Sharp, so haven't beeen able to check out 3D yet, but my new Panasonic 310 player comes tomorrow. Those Sharp 3D glasses, they are the IR Active shutter type right? ...Mine, the good ones, are $150 USA per pair! Active type with USB rechargeable battery around one ear, and electronics around the other ear, and very light. {Strange though that they were not included with your Sharp HDTV set.} * I was going to buy that 3D Panny DMP-BDT310, but it ain't available (yet) in my country! ...I don't even know if it will ever! => Click: TEST: Panasonic DMP-BDT310 3D Blu-ray Player with 2 x HDMISame thing with the Samsung BD-D6700 3D BD player; not available in Canada! And Sony have none of those! And I know that you know that in both our particular cases (Onkyo PR-SC886), we do need a 3D Blu-ray player with TWO HDMI Outs. I am totally amazed that the Blu-ray players' manufacturers aren't into this more! There must be tons of older A/V Receivers and Pre/pros with HDMI version 1.3 out there; and for all of us, the only way to take full advantage of both High Def 3D Picture and High Res Audio, is to have a 3D Blu-ray player with TWO HDMI outputs, or a 7.1 Multichannel Analog Out with FULL internal Bass Management. ...Or of course buy another unit with HDMI version 1.4 for 3D Picture & Audio! *** Two HDMI Outs is much simpler and less costly; both for us, and also the manufacturers. And yet, this is a very restricted area! ...This tell us something about the industry's direction and also about 3D at this moment. ...That makes me quite sad. Well, just look at 'Avatar 3D', and FOX & Panasonic! ---> Did you know that in Canada, the coupon for the 3D Blu-ray movie 'Avatar' is not included in any Panasonic Blu-ray 3D player?!! ...Only with 3D Panasonic plasma HDTVs! Now, just think! ...eBay, or like me get lucky to know closely an Audio/Video dealer, and still pay the overprice! ...But less than eBay though. Soooo, you tell me now, is 3D going the way of eBay? Is this the new 'Transformers' 3Digitization? ...The new 3D Money flow? ...Exclusive clubs? Separate classes of our society? The rich & the poor?

I have a 3D tv I just got, a Pannasonic GT30. I got a bunch of titles in 3D just to experience, but I haven't sat through a whole movie yet. Just waiting for something new that I really want to watch in 3D.
I will say though it is interesting how different the 3D effect differs from movie to movie. One movie that I had no expectations for that really surprised me is Beauty and the Beast. It is crazy how good that looks in 3D from an old 2D animation. You would think titles like Toy Story and other CGI to be easily made into 3D, and they are, but I really thought that the pre-CGI Disney movies would look dumb. I want to try out the Lion King as well.

If you just got a Panny 3D plasma, you must also got 'Avatar 3D', right? And you're right, some 3D stuff is better done than others. * How do you like your new HDTV set? What size is it? And if I may, why did you go for that model instead of another one?

Yes I have Avatar, but it isn't really something that I am dying to watch again. I loved in Imax 3d, watched it once more...So basically I don't want to get sick of it. I really liked the new Harry Potter in 3D so I am waiting for that. I'm loving this TV. I went with the 60". I chose the gt over the vt because I thought the differences were slight. For the record I am a pro pannasonic. I try to be as un-biased as possible, and I feel like I was with this decision. I actually was more interest in the Samsung offerings this year. The Samsung has better color accuracy and the Panasonic better black levels. Those were the big determining factors between the sets. I made my decision on my past experience with Samsung. Also that the major problems with the Panasonics have been addressed and fixed where as the Samsungs have not. Both are great sets and you will find plenty of people yapping back and forth about who has the better tv. Don't regret the purchase at all. If you just got a Panny 3D plasma, you must also got 'Avatar 3D', right? And you're right, some 3D stuff is better done than others. * How do you like your new HDTV set? What size is it? And if I may, why did you go for that model instead of another one?

I am not nearly as technical as some of the people there, but I get a lot of help and help out as I can. You really learn quite a bit there. I'm sure that's what every TV manufacturer tells its consumer each year

Some of the Best 3D titles: 1. Avatar. 2. Tangled. 3. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. 4. Coraline. 5. Bolt. 6. Alice in Wonderland. 7. A Christmas Carol. 8. All 4 Shrek movies. 9. Megamind. 10. How to Train your Dragon. 11. Yogi Bear. 12. Monsters vs Aliens. 13. Mars Needs Moms. 14. Drive Angry. 15. Resident Evil: Afterlife. 16. The Lion King. 17. Monster House. 18. Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. *19. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. *20. Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon. *21. All three Toy Story movies. * Coming up. 3D is gaining ground as even I now have two 3D capable LCD's in the house the first was purchased for it's 2D performance and the second is used for 3D gaming. Something struck me funny though and I really had to smile when I read through this list. Many of these titles I can remember falling asleep when I watched them the first time and would most likely not re-purchase them on 3D just to do that again! I am really not trying to crap on the 3D parade but there has to be more compelling content for me to go all in and upgrade the HT to support it as I would be looking at several thousand dollars to do that. I went 3D when the Tangled 3D BD was released. I bought a Vizio 3D t.v. and the Tangled BD on a whim while on a date with my GF one night. I did the firmware update on my good ol' "fat" PS3, and I was set. I only have a handful of 3D titles so far. Tangled The Green Hornet Alice In Wonderland IMAX The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D The Universe (History channel documentary) Tangled is heads and shoulders my favorite all around. The IMAX title has the most impressive/cool "pop out" moments though. While it is true A.I.Wonderland was converted after the fact, I do find the 3D to be impressive none the less...which is more than I can say for the movie its self. The Green Hornets 3D made me feel fatigued while watching so I switched to 2D to finish up. I have watched it two other times in 2D since and MUCH prefer that presentation for this tile...as always...YMMV. If I were trying to sell someone a 3D setup, I would use the IMAX disc.

JD, I know exactly what you're talking about. Those 3D Blu-ray titles are only there for some of the best 3D effects, that's all. And now that list is not the same for everyone, plus there are new entries too by now. 3D is still so new and not fully developed that it is hard to judge equitably.
