According to the last podcast, it'll be about 4 weeks for the pre-order to start.
Can't wait.

XSP-1?

I can see the delay in the XMC as the market is a moving target (HDMI 1.4, dual HDMI output, and every feature anyone could come up with being thrown at them in a few different threads). But, I'm not sure what the hold up is on the XSP? They had a working model (prototype) on display at Emofest and I'm not aware of any major snafu's or redesigns that were talked about or hinted at.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe they're robbing from XSP production buckets (process time) to build more XDAs as they are selling those hot and heavy?
That was just specualtion on my part!

I too have been wondering what the latest info is on the XSP-1. Anyone from Emotiva care to chime in? I have noticed that the Emo staff has been pretty quiet as of late. I assume it is due to the recent deal with Sherbourne eating up a LOT of their time...don't forget about us guys! ;D

I'm getting his tube buffer kit. less than the xsp-1 and likely to blow it away. The only way I'd be swayed is just to match my xda-1 and erc-1. xsp-1 does have a ton of inputs, but everyone I respect in this game says Dodd is cream of the crop.

I can see how it could be very good, but what about when the batteries are completely dead and won't recharge? Where do you get more, and how much are they?

I have no doubt that any product from Dodd will be quite exceptional. I just wonder what your reasoning for using the Dodd Audio tube buffer in lieu of the Emotiva XSP-1. These two products being compared is an apples to oranges exercise. I understand why you might be considering the XSP-1 with the XDA-1 -- HT Bypass, Analog Bass Management, Dual Differential Balanced Signal Path, XLR input/output, and Lonnie's super low noise dual differential output stage (the same circuitry as used in the XDA-1). However, I am not sure what you hope to gain by using the Dodd tube buffer. Dodd Audio does not offer any dual differential balanced products. Choosing to design its products around battery power economically deters using fully balanced designs -- double component parts and cutting battery life in half. The XDA-1 already has a very robust preamp built-in with extremely low noise analog volume control and it needs no gear between it and the power amps unless you need to add HT Bypass or Analog Bass Management. Am I overlooking something?

Dodd's equipment is used in absolute top top top of the line systems, his built pre-amp is several thousand dollars.
The tube buffer (all I will need in this setup) is under 600 with all the bells and whistles, but you have to build it.
I'm excited about using batteries, it negates the need for cleaned power on the preamp and has tremendous advantages for SQ. You don't have to use batteries btw, it's an option.
Preamp will be the last thing I add, but I'm pretty dead set on going with the Dodd. For what it's worth, the only other unit I'd consider is the XSP-1 as I absolutely LOVE my Emotiva gear.

I am getting the XDA-1 on the 15th Feb shipment and I am eyeing the XSP-1 as my next purchase, I would also like to get an idea from Emotiva on what is the current status of this product.
