That's great Chuckie but where's your ERC-2 Review??? :-) It's coming, it's coming! BTW, I'll also have a ERM-6.3 review soon also but keep that secret for now. Thanks for sharing Emotiva's responses to the ERC-2 issues you brought up. I don't suppose he gave any "ball park" date on when to call back on the FW updates? I will be sure to keep your ERM-6.3 review secret, but thought I would let you know that Norah Jones played thru the 6.3 will make your jaw drop... so remove your dentures before listening to her. ;D If you close your eyes when you audition the 6.3 using your Norah Jones CDs, you will swear she is sitting at the piano right in your livingroom. Just don't reach out trying to touch her... it only sounds like she is there. ;D Enjoy your your new speaker.

The 6.3 is my favorite Emotiva speaker. Just wish they had made a tower version.

I don't suppose he gave any "ball park" date on when to call back on the FW updates? No, sorry I should have asked for an estimate. I'll try to remember and call back in a few weeks. BTW, you call there frequently ... or anyone else who might think to ask for Joe or someone in tech support and see if the FW upgrade is out yet and post the info here. ;D

ERC-2 review coming soon (don't expect much since it is basically the ERC-1 with a few upgrades). Roadrunner, as you know, I'v been extremely happy with my Emo ERM-1's LCR (and also my ERD-1's), slightly smaller brother of the Emo 6.2's. The ERM-1's IMO are the real hidden secret of Emo's original speaker line. I say that because so many folks dismissed them due to their smaller size. However, a bookshelf with the same tweeter as in the 8.3 and two very high power handling 5.25's in a 18lb enclosure is no slouch. I think Emo missed the boat by not taking the five star review from Audioholics and running with it. I could have sold a million of them. That said, I have been hearing a voice the last few months. It is Monkumonku, The Speaker Whisperer, ..... "upgrade" ..... "upgrade" ..... "upgrade" ..... "upgrade"................ I can't get it out of my mind. During the 4th of July sale the subliminal message entered my impressionable elderly mind. However, the left ERM-1 on its Bello stand partially blocks the recessed shelves behind it. Usually it is no problem. A 6.3/8.3 or 6.3 LCR system might not be so easily to move when I need full access to the shelves. I anticipate with the 8.3 having to modify the outriggers with casters so I could easily move it a foot or two when needed. I knew that would take some effort so I decided to put that idea on hold until the next sale. Then the last day of the sale when I was hiking on Tiger Mountain, I got a sudden brainstorm, just like a revelation from above. Either an upgrade 3ea 6.3/LCR system or more likely a 6.3/2ea 8.3 system would include the 6.3. Why not order one only 6.3 now and take the time to thoroughly test and evaluate it. If I like and keep it then I can later order the additional 8.3's or 6.3's. Since I'm intimately (they're non-ported) extensively familiar with the SQ of the ERM-1's, I'm sure I have a very close idea of the SQ on the 8.3. The 8.3 is just an ERM-1 mounted on a enclosure with two 8" drivers. Emo does not reveal their crossover points but these two should be quite similar in the upper mids and highs. However, since the 6.3 is a three way versus the two way of the ERM-1 and 6.2, it has my curiosity to its possible increased clarity and definition on dialog and voices as you have frequently mentioned in your posts. Normally I would say no, I'll take the simple 2 way in a smaller enclosure for a many times superior SQ in this area IMO. However, I know that Emo and Vance do things right, so my curiosity to test the 6.3 has overwhelmed any hesitation. I'll do a general SQ evaluation on the 6.3 in a mono mode away from and nearer to the wall using all the tweeter, midrange and boundary compensation controls. I'll also do an A/B comparison side by side (probably not blind since my wife is in Japan for quite some time) with the 6.3 and the ERM-1 both in a vertical mode such as left channel and also in a horizontal mode on top of my Emotiva SS-6 center speaker stand. I will also do some frequency response and speaker sensitivity (efficiency) tests. This is just a short ( ;D) post to wet your appetite for my upcoming review/mini-mono-shootout. It will take some time and effort so please be patient. I do promise my review will be posted (perhaps with nice 8 x 10 blow-ups) before the release of the XMC-1! ;D ;D ;D
