Teresa, congrats and you did pick a great TV. I know from experience because I have 2 of their 58" 1080p's and just love them. It is a bit overkill in the bedroom but what great TV's.
Enjoy

For Theresa Only:
Just one reviewers suggestion for good picture quality for Theresa to try after full break in period.
Calibration Notes: Follow our picture settings below for a pleasant surprise in how this TV can make a picture pop. Reds may at times appear a little over saturated, but it's better than under-saturated. Note: Ramping the phosphors like we recommend may slightly decrease their time to half life.
Picture Mode: You must be in the Custom Mode to make the following adjustments. Pro Setting may not be adjusted in the other Picture modes.
Picture Mode: Custom Contrast: 71 Brightness: 62 Color: 49 Sharpness: 15 Tint: 0 Color Temp: Warm 2 CATS: Off Mosquito NR: Off Motion Smoother: Off Black Level: Light 24P Direct in: 60Hz In Pro Settings Menu (White Balance) W/B high R +7 W/B high G 0 W/B high B +16 W/B low R +7 W/B low G 0 W/B low B +4

Its arrived. Easy to remove outer top of box. An acquaintance is going to help put it together and into place this afternoon.

Almost all setup. Just need it to break in now. Thinking I will run it 24 hours a day for about 4 days. Its really nice having a screen 10" bigger.

I don't recommend that you go into the 'Hidden Service Menu' Theresa; it's more for the professional video calibrators.

OK, then give your flat panel plasma 100 to 200 hours of easy break in, then you can experiment with Chuckie's control settings after that.

Great Choice Theresa!I know you just copied me Theresa as I also have a 50" 1080p Panny plasma. You'll be stunned when you put a high quality Blu-Ray movie on it. Keep that brightness, color and contrast down below 50 for awhile during break-in. Turn the set off for a few minutes and then on again several times during break-in. Any old movie on replay loop is fine 24 hours a day, I used Finding Nemo and others with lots of different colors. LOTR is right about the "cinema" being the most natural setting (at least on my 2 year old set). Also sprinkle the set with holy water if you can find some. A Catholic or Greek Othodox Church is a good source. No kosher water please! If that Sony BR blows up there is an entry level Panny BDP-75 on sale at Costco for $79. I bought one for my sister for her 32" Panny LCD and it is the same video as the higher models, but no 3D and it has stunning video quality. (Don't listen to LOTR badmouth the Panny Blu-Ray's, he's a nut!). ;D Be sure you don't dust or clean that screen with anything but display or monitor cleaner and only a micro fiber cloth, no paper towels or Kleenex or sandpaper! I would try a good old fashioned traditional witchcraft method to "bless it." take some spring water and a little salt in a bowl, stir with your fingers Of your left hand in a widdershin (anticlockwise) motion, say "water and earth where you are cast, no spell nor deed nor adverse purpos last, now in complete accord with me, as my will so shall it be." sprinkle the tv with the hallowed water and state your exact inention in your own words while visualizing only positive outcomes for the tv.

I just bought a 51" Samsung plasma. It's replacing my nearly 2 year old 42" Samsung plasma. The size difference was very difficult to gauge at best buy but in the house it's almost enormous on the tv stand compared to the previous tv. Funny though, I was thinking the same thing when I bought the first one. It had replaced a 32". I should have just gone with the largest from the start but money was tight and what's great now is the prices are so much lower. Like others have said, if you're not interested in 3D, there are some great deals to be had on regular (2d) tv's.

The thing is that most 3D HDTVs excel at 2D better than just regular 2D HDTVs. Because they use a better video processor, more advanced; they have to! EDIT: typo.

I can read on screen text that I could not before. I don't know if getting the ST (3D) over the S model (non-3D) was worth it but appears that it has some features that improve picture quality and reviews seem to bare that out but some here who I respect greatly say this isn't true.

I'm surprised even DVDs look better on the larger screen.

Theresa, your giving me new TV fever! Must resist the temptation as I'm trying to save up for a pair of XPA-1's. Glad your enjoying the new TV and look forward to more updates regarding picture quality.

I was told by a Bestbuy associate that for every inch you increase in screen size (16:9) you gain 6% more visible viewing area. So if the associate is right , Theresa just increased by 10 inches or 60% more viewing pleasure if what I was told is right. I tried to research but couldn't find a link.

Audio almost always trumps video for me. I am just satisfied with everything on the audio side while my old Sony was obviously deficient and size does matter when it comes to screens. XPA-1s will be really nice.
