The 5005 is good. Really good. Just out the Outlaw people. They're selling it. Still.
I'm happy with mine. It's serving my needs in the family room just great, and the SQ is excellent. Granted it can be anemic at very loud volumes. But hemsterwife doesn't like very loud volumes. So that's that.

just save your money and get emotiva HT components. You can't go wrong. I'm waiting for the new processor, then I will be complete since I already have an xpa 5 along with too many gear like sunfire and carver including the pioneer sc 37. Emotiva is the most cost effective high end HT system you can get in my opinion especially the technology and engineering involved. It's nice to have HT receivers from other manufacturers but if you don't have the funds, it's better to get emotiva quality gear. They use very well made electronic parts and spend a lot of time designing and developing best bang for your buck.

Does anyone just listen to music anymore or is it all just movies and TV?
Any serious audio listeners? Or am I the only one who listens to 2 chainnel? Then goes to a HT room for TV?
After buying a pair of 8.3's I can see where this is going. Good HT speakers. That's about it.

I know people that listen to audio are pretty serious about their equipment and listening time, maybe more so than the videophiles. Honestly, I have a pretty weak music collection and for me it's more about ease of access to the music I have than it is about quality. My ears just are not that good and aside from the occasional Bluray concert I don't find myself sitting alone listening to music that much. For me it's more of a background thing when I'm tinkering around the house or cleaning, etc.

I listen to 2 channel music all day downstairs, then use the HT upstairs after the kids go to bed. Of course with kids, I can't seriously listen all day, but it's at least in the background the whole day.

Nowadays it's about Music files and Music servers.
The true hardcore 2-channel Stereo listeners (Audiophiles) have a dedicated room with better loudspeakers and electronic components.
Home Theater for Blu-ray Music Concerts and Movies in Hi Res also demands good gear, and good setup (the setup is very important).
Now, the material used (the Music recordings: CDs, LPs, Open Reel tapes, music files on various formats and resolutions, and the Movies: Blu-ray, HD DVD, DVDs, Laser Discs) is the most important ingredient in the overall auditory result.
The Quality of the recordings (microphones, engineer mixes, consoles, cabling, studio properties, artists, instruments, etc.) is the definitive and ultimate resolution.
To capture the space, the ambiance, the air, and all that Jazz in their proper context with taste and naturalness is an art in itself, and the reproduction is only as good as the recorded medium.
And then there is Preference, and particular taste for some type of material (music generally), which is better recorded with special attention (Classical, Jazz, Blues, Folk in general). Rock, Pop, Rap, Electronic, and other type of music is generally more commercial and dynamic compression is generally applied, so they sound loud consistently, without real life, without SOUL.
That's my experience.
