Hi all. Happy New Year! Ok, I'm calling this a quirk cause it really isn't a problem. I've had these amps about 6 weeks now and they are great. The quirk that's not a problem is that one little blue LED on the left channel is always on while on the right channel they all disappear when there's not enuff juice to light them up. Anybody have an idea why one would stay lit? I know, if I don't like it shut them off. Actually, I kinda like to see them dance.

I am not clear on what the OP means - is he saying that when the XPA-1's are on, that only 1 blue LED is lit and there are none lit on the other one? Or is that only when they are turned off?
If they are on, then at least 1 LED should always be on regardless of the volume/power being used. It shouldn't be that the LED's only come on if you are sending a signal through the amp.
Mine did the same thing the other day - turned off the amps and one LED stayed lit. Strange.

Yes, one blue light should be on at idle. I've had an odd problem (twice), that when I shut them down that one blue light remains on even after the power is off. It's only happened twice and cycling them on and off corrects it...

Ok, so I'm not alone, kinda. I'll describe what's happening again. When my amps are off or in standby the leds are all off. Black panels. Zip. When they are on, and nothing is playing, the left channel always has one blue light on and the right has nothing. As soon as I turn them on the left lights one up and the right stays dark. When they are playing, they both light up as they should. I'm not about to make a big deal out of it. I was just wondering if anyone had an idea of why it was like that.

Both amps should have one blue light at idle. Somethings funky about the LED board. Like I said I've had one (first one) stay on even after I've powered the amp down. Turn the amp on/off and it resets. Only happened twice in over a year so I'm not to worried about it...

As Porscheguy said, when the amps are on but idle, one blue LED should be lit. Perhaps your right channel amp's LED panel is not calibrated properly, and it is requiring some signal to be played in order for the first one to light up. If your audio is coming through okay then it should be fine.

When I had my XPA-1s. I had an issue of a light staying on when it was off. It only happened once and was more likely related to my homemade trigger wires. Assuming you are triggering these amps on and off, you could try turning them on without the 12v triggers.

hmmmm....there's only one channel on the XPA-1 so I'm not sure why you'd see two blue lights until you cranked it up.

If the status leds switch is turned off on one and not the other they would do what the op describes. I have them turned off on mine, having only the meters working.

I have the same issue once in the while when I turn off XPA-1’s with the trigger from the UMC and every once in the while the blue led on my left amp will stay on. If I turn the amp back on and off it will go out. Now here’s what’s strange I always check them when I turn them off but a couple of times I have found it on the next day. Maybe a power spike or I have a ghost.

I always have one blue LED on when the amp is turned on, and they dance as I drive the speakers. Every now and then (about once or twice a year) I will see the blue LED remain lit after I turned the amps off in stand by mode. When this happens, I just turn them on again then back off and that fixes it right away.

I have a UPA-2 and when its on there is only one blue light lit in each window....should more come on as the music gets turned up? Sorry for asking about it here but didn't know I had a question till I saw this post.

Only the xpa-1 has dancing lights (vu meters). Maybe the xpa-2 has also but none of the upa series have them

Okay guyz I've got the same issue as rather and vermont99: since a few months, when I turned my XPA-1s off, the left or right channel status LED remains ON although the units were put into stand by. I couldn't have this fixed so I just sent an email to the support team to have a return 'cause ths is getting me upset, as I have to turn the units ON and back then off again to see the status led turn OFF finally. Anyone knows the cause of this ? It seems several users encountered the same issue with the XPA-1. I'm wiating for the feed-back from the Emotiva's support team, but If I should send both units back for service, that'd be quite costly.

I've had a same issue on one of my XPA-1s.
When powered down, the power button goes to orange and the first blue LED remains illuminated when it should be extinguished. I then recycle the amp on to off and then the first blue LED goes out like it should.
This had happened about 4 times within the last two months.
I've had my XPA-1s for about 35 months and love the SQ.
I've got over 2 years of warranty left so I'm just keeping an eye on this for now.

I experience that too when I own a pair of XPA-1, I got a scary loud sound to go with it out of speaker of course.
Called Emo and they fixed it.
