Snapped a quick cellphone pic of my equipment rack in my reference theater this afternoon after realizing I haven't really shown any of you my setup. While I'll hold off showing you the rest until it's finished, here is my rack in all its "glory". Honestly, after playing with just about everything this industry has to offer, this very simple setup checks all the requisite boxes -at least for me. Proof positive you don't have to go crazy or over think things, in fact, keeping it simple often pays dividends. To that end what you're looking at is a UMC-200 (yes, in a reference system) with a Chromecast and a Roku hanging off the back. A Dune HD Max streaming Blu-rays off my NAS drive (in an adjacent room) with Crown XLS 2000 amplifiers driving Bowers & Wilkins CT8.2 LCRS loudspeakers across all five channels. Speaker cables are made from 12-gauge lamp cord from the hardware store, whereas my RCA interconnects are from Emotiva. Same is true for my single HDMI cable running from the Dune to the UMC-200. The rack is a piece of furniture I picked up from Target. I do not run EMO-Q, but have two bands of PEQ applied to my Tekton Design's Pendragon subwoofer (not pictured). Power is being handled via an APC battery backup that I bought from Office Depot. Simple. Simple. Simple. I have ZERO complaints or critiques thus far.

badong, what's the old school radio-looking thing with what looks to be a mini-X volume knob in the center?

Here's mine. Gear is in the sig. So what's the story behind the bench. It's very impressive. Is it custom? Where did you find it?

So what's the story behind the bench. It's very impressive. Is it custom? Where did you find it? It's just a bench I found at Le Targete (Target). I altered it by removing the two wooden doors and placing one of the vertical dividers in the middle. I'm very thankful that the Vandersteen still fits next to it. There's even enough room for the XMC-1 if that ever materializes. I still want to add glass doors since guests occasionally hit buttons with their feet. Another project I keep putting off.

There is this great new App called "Fingers" that works with this App I already had entitled "Legs" and how they work is like this; Legs takes Fingers over to the device then fingers touches said device and controls it in suitable fashion. (just having some fun with you) Yes, I manually turn the Crowns on before and after listening. No biggie really. Suppose I could leave them on full time as they sip power when not in use but I try and be as "green" as possible.

This is what I use to turn my QSC amp on/off.. (12V trigger) www.panamax.com/Products/Floor-Models/M8-AV-PRO.phpSo getting this will prevent you from doing that archaic thing called walking.

Oh, Papa wants that retro cabinet something awful.
With that cabinet and the correct internals, that would become the hub for your entertainment system, the ripper, the storage device and the source. How do you go about ripping BluRay?
Also, with the little GUI you can let it remain headless? I am guessing that you could then control It with something like Jriver. Is there an advantage to using this HTPC over partitioning off a drive in my home office desktop on the network?
Sorry if that is a simpleton's question, or series of questions...

Walking to a switch? Sheesh. Too much work indeed. It's too 1960s.. EDIT, apparently remotes existed in the 60's

Only the truly rich had remotes in the 60's.
