unfortunately, NOT AT ALL, I have all THREE OPPO BDP 83, 93, 95 for my three HD projection rooms using epson and casio led and lcd projectors. Using a sharp 3d player for my sharp quattron 70 inch 3d led tv, so I have 4 movie rooms. what do you expect from an audio fanatic? Still building up my EMOTIVA gear which will be used on my epson projector room that uses all ohm acoustic loudspeakers. I have an ohm 300 mk 2 using a janszen electrostat add on transducer to elevate the high and mid soundstage. Outside of plasma/ion transducers, electrostats are superior in the high and mid range over domes with the exception of the ribbon linesource used on megabuck systems. The BDP 95 IS WORTH the purchase if stereo audio is very important to your listening pleasure, but the BDP 93 is sufficient for multi purpose use. I don't see a point on getting a bdp 95 if you have a bdp 93 for your video and an emotiva erc 2 for your audio.

Having stepped up from an ERC-1 to an OPPO BDP95 [yes I believe it to be a good step up] I'd like to concur with hemster and his findings and add a few of my own. I'm only going to mention sound from the analog outs via my pure audio inputs thru my Marantz 7005 because we all know it does well though the video. First thing I noticed was the dynamics of the bass. The drum kicks were louder and deeper. I discovered hidden deep bass in my cds that I never heard before. Pretty cool when you can say to yourself "where did that come from?" Next I noticed a very distinctive separation of all the sounds. I could pick out an individual instrument playing at a low level and follow it all the way though the song without interverance from any other instrument or voice. And lastly, the soundstage originated right at my speakers, and not forward or recessed. These are the things that were not subtle to me. The only problem I've had with the unit is a handshake issue after listening to discs and then going back to movies. I have to shut the OPPO off and turn it back on, then everything is fine, ?? Hmm. Maybe its my Samsung, as my Marantz is bybassed in video.[not plugged in].

If it matches the one connected to the TV it'll not need to establish a handshake whenever you switch from music to movies.

Hemster, everything is hooked up right HDMI primary to samsung, HDMI 2 hooked to marantz. Even if I'm playing a CD on pure direct, if I turn on the TV, the sound burps and stutters. I don't care, though, I love my OPPO. It told me today to update my firmware. Hit a few buttons, and away it goes. I know the hiccups and will just live with them. Not a deal breaker.
