Brand spanking new member.
Winter brings plenty of time for sitting inside listening to music and watching movies. I have recently resumed my basement finishing project and plan on having it mostly done by this time next year. At this time I will think about going the separates route and am looking forward to the XMC-1 release and the 5 channel amp.
I am more of a do-it-yourselfer when it comes to speakers as I have built my mains, center and sub. Have used them for years and love them. I've always been curious as to how they would sound with more power. Currently running a Marantz SR7500 which for the most part is plenty for my 11X20x8 room. I'm fairly certain I'd notice a difference with more power however, and look forward to a processor with HDMI and those gorgeous blue lights! Come on, that's eye candy everyone likes, right?
I hope to learn a lot more in the upcoming months and plan on doing some more critical listening on my system as I have expanded my music tastes to some types I have not given much notice previously.
My speakers are MTM designs custom built by me using Peerless and Vifa drivers. The sub is a JL Audio 12W2 in a bandpass enclosure powered by an NHT MA-1A 60 watt amp. I know, sounds as wimpy as the kid down the block with the coke bottle glasses that is afraid to leave the house. However, the sound of the sub and output never cease to blow me away. I was watching Cowboys vs Aliens lastnight and I thought I was actually an actor in the movie standing next to the space ship as it lifted off.
As I eventually move equipment to the basement, I will be eager to get some new Emotiva gear and turn it up a notch. Glad I stumbled across Emotiva and look forward to being an owner in the near future!
